Interesting chapter with some historical facts and a mystery that is pending to be solved: they found the cat and the other side of the stairs! Great chapter!

Wow we have a long way to go before our boys can physically connect because of Brian’s many deep mental health issues. However a trusting bond is building and that will be a basis to a lasting relationship hopefully. I am loving all the twists and turns this story takes as we wander through this lovely building

Mysteries AND easter eggs.
Have to admit that I'm dying to know the story of the hidden stairs and room. All kinds of things run through one's head when it gets to this point in a mystery story, from dungeons to secret treasures to simply a vehicle for reconciling one's ocd with one's past. This is seriously good plotting, my sisters! And I'm damn proud of Eggy for actually making it all the way to the basement - and beyond - without totally freaking. Seems his brat is imbuing him with some courage - or simply making him aware of the courage he's always used in other ways.
Watching Brian bloom here is wonderful. Not too fast, even with the shock therapy of Justin Taylor.
And I gotta say I love Bill!

Another few humorous moments. And least this is a fun read so far. happy-go-lucky, and lacking the angst and seriousness we get in so many stories. I have to admit that the title had me feeling a little squicked out. I had immediately thought of the song, and upon further contemplation, I remembered the horror movie, "Don't Look In The Basement." Wasn't the song kind of a honor to horror movies? Anyways, it turned out to not be anything with what my imagination came up with. For some reason though, I don't think you ladies are done with us yet.
HE'S ALIVE! HEAR, HEAR. LONG LIVE BILL! HE'S RETURNED FROM THE DEEP DEPTHS OF THE PIT OF DESPAIR.
Pray tell, how is Eggy gonna get a clean cat? One that's acceptable to live in his home? I think Bill may protest about getting a bath. And Justin is the one that would have to bathe the damn thing. But oh the comedy Justin's mind would come up with during that time.
My heart went out to Justin's, Brian. Donal was a mean-spirited, crotchety old man, who shouldn't have been a parental figure in the first place. The horrors that man put the child through, are going to have everlasting effects
Is the opening going to lead further down the secret staircase, but maybe be a cleaner area to go down? How will Justin get Eggy back down there again?
I did notice the nod to last years story. Could Justin and Brian really find a time portal? Is there such a thing? Nah, even Justin realized that was kind of a crazy, foolish thought.

First of all, I get so wrapped up in reading that I sometimes forget to mention that the pictures you add are amazing. Secondly, did not miss the "sly" mention of portals and time travel. Nice going ladies. Now as for this chapter, absolutely amazing. One thing that I love about reading Brian and Justin stories is that we know what the characters look like from QAF and that makes it so much fun to imagine them in these situations. When I read other novels (which is rare now that I am hooked on these stories), I can imagine the characters from the writer's descriptions, but it is not the same. So thank you again for sharing all the wonderful ideas that you come up with. I hope you are both planning a wonderful holiday season.
