I was in Atlanta when I first started noticing the strange, intermittent numbness and tingling in the fingers of my right hand. I was finishing up some paperwork, and I was having a hard time holding onto the pen, though at the time I thought it was just because I couldn't feel my fingers in the way that I was used to. I knew I'd been pushing myself too hard, spending too much time working on my laptop and not enough time doing yoga, so I thought it was probably just stress. I needed a break, although I wasn't sure when I was going to get one, because I was only scheduled to have two days at home before I had to leave again to travel to Dallas.

Rob has a health scare that leads him to reevaluate his life. Brian helps support him along the way.

Leaning back against the leather headrest, Brian let out a shaky breath, already feeling sweaty and a little disoriented. He realized he had two choices here, both potentially impacting his dignity in a major way. As much as he wanted to try to tough it out the additional half hour, to endure whatever happened next in the comfort of a Four Seasons Hotel suite, the reality of the situation was that Lindsay and Melanie’s neighborhood was much closer. And it was absolutely inevitable that Brian's body was going to revolt sooner than later.

Well, fuck.

Brian's planned trip to Toronto to spend time with Gus is interrupted by a very-much-unplanned illness, which gives him a lot of time to think, and leads to some unexpected revelations.

I apologize for the delay in getting my holiday story to you, but I hope you will still enjoy it.  It seems that Brian has a problem being around for Justin whenever a big holiday comes up. They've been living together for several years, and this year is the straw that broke the camel's back.  Brian again misses every holiday for the last few months of the year, so Justin decides it is time to do something about it.

Soon after settling in to one of the largest mansions in the area with his two dogs, he meets his neighbor, Justin Taylor. Justin is a world renowned cellist who has recently moved into a nearby mansion.  He loves fast cars, adorable cats, and has the annoying habit of practicing….loudly, (at least according to Brian) for hours on end. Despite his initial annoyance, Brian soon grows fond of the music and the cellist, but after experiencing a broken heart in the past has vowed to never allow himself to love again.  The problem is, the heart wants what the heart wants, and there's not much the brain can do to stop it.

Brian has been acting strange for several weeks. Michael decides to search the loft while Brian is out of town on business to see if he can find any clues to his best friend's recent behavior. What he finds is a copy of Brian's will. And now he wants to know... just who the hell is Justin Taylor and why is Brian leaving him his entire estate?

Consequences - How Brian met Justin tells you how Brian met his husband. After that one shot, I'll start working on a multi-chapter story to wrap this storyline up.
