Want nothing more than for you to love me. To earn your approval. For you to be proud of me. Well, Joanie, all that disappeared when you turned a blind eye to your husband's abuse of your son. However, in both Proverbs and Deuteronomy it talks about disciplining them appropriately, not beating them and breaking bones. And the fear Brian lived with, wondering if this night, it would happen again.
But then we had Gus' exuberant birthday hug and wishes, which overrode everything else.
You have a knack for taking real-life issues that can be hard to overcome, but you didn't give a miraculous recovery. They had to fight and learn how to cope. You left them with a way to overcome them with help and guidance. And love.
VERY good story!

Brian has really put his mark on such a great ad campaign. He's always the best at what he does, and this just proved it.

Date: Sep 15, 2025 9:22 am Title: Desire
With Justin's help and encouragement, Brian seems to be slowly getting back some of the confidence he lost.

Date: Sep 15, 2025 8:48 am Title: Repercussions
I'm sure Brian will have some difficulties trying to talk out loud to the therapist, but once he makes that breakthrough, it will be easier. Good for him realizing he needed help.

Date: Sep 15, 2025 8:35 am Title: Alive
Way to go, Brian! One of the hardest things in life is admitting there's a problem and seeking outside help. And the Brian he was before would have never thought or realized that.

Date: Sep 15, 2025 8:00 am Title: Reunification
At least Justin can relate to how Brian feels. This is one place the bashing has helped Justin. He also wants to make this relationship work. Brian just has to work through everything, and not wish things were like they before the accident.

Wow! What an emotional chapter. Really tugged at the heartstrings. Debbie was a true mother to him since he was 14. Which was wonderful, because we know Joanie never was.
I hope Brian gets up the nerve to ask Justin to move in with him. Maybe Justin will take the initiative show up one day with his stuff.

Date: Sep 15, 2025 5:33 am Title: Decisions
This new Brian seems to be more loving and mature. The fact that he wanted to move to NY proved that. Then referring to Justin as his partner... My heart flipped.

Date: Sep 15, 2025 4:52 am Title: Let Go
Love the way Brian's able to show Justin his emotions. Love the way he's thinking about NY.
I love the Brian/Ted relationship. Ted has really become a very good friend to Brian.

Date: Sep 14, 2025 10:32 pm Title: Invincible
So, Brian finally explained why he hadn't told Justin. I also liked that you explained Brian's acceptance of himself.
Tough on both Debbie and Michael after Brian's accident.

Date: Sep 14, 2025 10:10 pm Title: Together
Brian needs to sort out his thinking, and quit blaming himself.
I was very proud of him handling his trip on the train.

Date: Sep 14, 2025 9:52 pm Title: Changed
This is going to be a very different story. Brian has had to turn his mind around to accept this new challenge. Not sure why he hadn't told Justin.

Date: Apr 26, 2022 5:42 pm Title: Acceptance
I fucking hate Joan Kinney, what a cold, vile old lady. I am so glad he has Debbie in his life. Blood doesn't make you family, love does, and Debbie loves him like her own.
I really never knew until reading this how with this type of SCI a man couldn't ejaculate anymore, I cannot imagine how that would make him feel.
I love this change in Brian.

Date: Apr 26, 2022 5:02 pm Title: Revolution
I seriously love everything about the way you write this story.

Date: Apr 25, 2022 7:15 pm Title: Desire
what Justin said makes so much sense, until Brian sees himself as worthy again, people will see he has doubts about himself. Once he's back to his usual cocky, confident self, people will come running.

Date: Apr 25, 2022 6:41 pm Title: Reflection
I can see that hug so perfectly in my head with Debbie, and it makes my heart sing happily.
Now Brian needs to ask Justin to move in.

Date: Apr 25, 2022 6:35 pm Title: Decisions
I am so proud of how far Brian has come and how he was so honest with his feelings.

Date: Apr 25, 2022 6:15 pm Title: Let Go
His life is in NYC, not just with Justin, but because he can be himself there. No one knows him and it is more accessible.

Date: Apr 25, 2022 6:09 pm Title: Invincible
It must have been so hard for the rest of the family as well, and their nagging only shows how much they love him

Date: Apr 25, 2022 6:07 pm Title: Together
The end has me smiling so big, Justin loves him no matter what and it's about time Brian realises that.

Date: Apr 25, 2022 5:52 pm Title: Changed
Reading this for a second time and it's like reading it for the first time all over again. I am picking up bits I missed the first time around. I totally get why Brian didn't tell Justin, his reasons made perfect sense and what I loved was that Justin totally understood.

You made me cry again. You are my favourite author. I am so happy I found you.

Date: Jul 20, 2021 8:46 am Title: Revolution
That party may be a bad idea....

Date: Jul 20, 2021 8:12 am Title: Desire
Justin showed him how he still thinks of him as strong and sexy. It's easy enough to say it, but to be shown it's true is another thing. Way to go, Justin.

Date: Jul 20, 2021 7:51 am Title: Repercussions
What Justin said, about how you're not in their mind though, is so true. I think we all do this to some extent.
