Maybe they will both learn that marriage is a partnership and that no matter what is going on with you, you need to pay attention to your partner. Also, one partner should never feel that they are a burden to the other. Great connection between the two men- you could feel the emotion.

This was a HUGE wakeup call for both of them...HUGE. So, worry not, they've definitely had more than a few realizations about marriage and partnership...particularly Brian, whose demons have left him feeling like a burden for much of his life. Like he doesn't deserve to not feel that way. Of course, we know otherwise, but that's something that will always linger for him a little bit, I think. So glad you enjoyed the chapter! :)

Wonderful chapter! This re-connection is beautiful, very moving and sensual; I don't mean the way it ends, but the way they touch each other while they speak: Brian's fingers in Justin's hair are always my favorite simple thing that Brian can't help doing. This habit he has is way better than cuddling, which he allows now and crave as well.

I'm glad you enjoyed reading it just as much. :) This version of Brian is different from canon Brian in a lot of ways because he has changed and grown, but canon Brian is still there, too. It's great to feel like a weight has been lifted and to read that the Sunshine smile is making an appearance from time to time.
What is bothering me is Justin's need to stop painting/drawing. I guess there is an explanation and that he is sharing it with his therapist. I also hope it won't be definite.

Justin will explain a little more in the next chapter, as to what his thought process was behind telling Rob and Adam that he wanted to take a break from art for a while. He does have his reasons, and he has been discussing them with his therapist.
I'm loving writing the weight being lifted as well, and some aspects of this story are very personal to me, so I definitely feel that connection with the characters. Things are starting to look up. :)

You really have a talent to make my eyes water; not plain tears though because they seem on the ascending side. It tough for an adult like Brian to let go and cry. He is so inadequate for such reaction since his dreadful childhood which almost broke his sensitive side.
At least, Justin seems at peace while sleeping and he is starting to go back to the kitchen. It's not tomorrow that he will cook Jembalaya, but he will, one day.

Brian and Justin hit rock bottom in the last chapter...it's all upward from here, but the path will not be linear by any means. Such is life, though. I see Brian as a very sensitive person, because he wouldn't need those walls if he wasn't. But you are right that his childhood broke him, and made him reluctant to allow himself to feel those things, and gave him the impulse to hide it when he does. Self care is even going to be a struggle for Justin for a while, I think. And it's going to be hard for Brian to be the support during this process, but he is committed to doing it.

Thank you <3 This was an extremely difficult chapter to write because it was so emotional. I needed to be in the right headspace to do it, and that took a bit of time. And I still left it with a lot of tears shed, and a headache. But I'm pleased with how it turned out, and that it seems I've conveyed what I intended.

He's sleeping a lot, he's withdrawing, he's having mood swings, he's anxious, he's not interested in things he once was...

Ha...I know it's been a lot of cliffhangers, and I think there will be a few more as we approach and start to make our way through the climax of the story. Then those should calm down a little...maybe. ;) But you know me. LOL It's not really intended to be a mystery per se...all of Justin's symptoms are adding up to something...but don't overthink it.
