I have to wonder if Brian was being extra careful, not wanting to hurt Justin, especially having him face some of his past, and how it had hurt so badly.
I was thinking after reading the previous chapter, when they were talking about others using Brian when he was bad, well, we already heard about two other men.

I assume that since Justin's working at the gallery, that leaves Brian home alone every day. How good is that for him?
I'm a little nervous about Brian telling Michael some candid info, especially since your tag: Anti-Michael. Question, though, just how much does Michael know about this case? Is he aware this has been ongoing since Brian was five?
Also, I've been hearing Melanie's voice in my head these last couple of chapters. I can just hear the vitriol coming from her voice. I just loved the lawyer in Alterations who went up against Mel, and how they had overextended their financial woes.
A person has to know just how bad it was that Brian begged to go home, when home was just another prison.

Daphne needs to relate during her talk with Langley, and not just with Joan. Also how Joan said how the 'school' paid for all of Brian's fees and how Langley took him out of town with him? Or wait... don't they also have her conversation with Joan on tape?
I think this is something Brian has buried and is scared to admit all the stuff with Langley, rather than a dissociation.
I started to get my ire up when Justin kept telling Daphne how he HAD to go back to NY, but that little sweetie of a friend did just fine. Gotta love Daphne.

Date: Jul 16, 2025 7:26 am Title: Chapter 9 - Come on, Buddy
So Langley likes expensive cars... with a teacher/coach salary, that alone is not gonna make him enough money for expensive cars. So it makes sense that he's highly amid the kiddie porn. I have to wonder just how much money that slimeball made just off Brian? Where did he put all that money? Can't these people access bank records?
Brian might not have admitted that was he and Langley in the video, but isn't it revealing that he called him "Coach?"
I totally understand Brian not wanting to remember any of this, but pictures don't lie. I'm also surprised that Brian didn't shut down completely. If he shut down so badly in NY, just from a photo, all this should have him going catatonic.
Not just castration ~ make the guy a total eunuch, snipping off his balls a piece at a time.

Date: Jul 16, 2025 6:13 am Title: Chapter 8 - Mandatory Reporting
When I saw your chapter notes, I was like - yikes! I was surprised that Brian sat there so calmly while Justin was explaining everything to Carl.
So the ending of this chapter hit even harder. How do you get a statement from - more or less - a zombie?

Date: Jul 15, 2025 8:09 pm Title: Chapter 7 - Celluloid Nightmares
At the beginning of this chapter, I found a couple of areas that I thought about making glib comments about. But when I got to the ending, all thoughts of making a joke, totally left my stomach.
I know the right thing to do is to take it to the authorities, but does Langley have friends in the precinct?
I'm sure you've read Alterations. I read it a couple of years after it was posted. Roni even managed to answer my comment. When I got to the part where 'little boy' was revealed and what happened, I pushed my computer against the wall, got up, and tried to breathe through the panic attack that started. I didn't even care if my computer was destroyed. It took me until the next day before I could start on the story again. I honestly think that part is the worst thing I have ever read. Over the years I've read the story a number of times. My stomach still clenches, and a few times I just skip that part. She did such a marvelous job on that story. However, she responded with there was research, but some came from personal experience. That just about kills me.
Worse yet, I went into that story blind. I had no idea what I was getting into. There was no prior knowledge of what it consisted of.
So I have no idea where you will take us, or how far your story will go into what actually happened. All I know is Brian is such a strong character, and to put him in a verse of this sort is almost harder to read than if it happened to another character.
Anyway... I wonder what Ted and Cynthia are dealing with Brian at Kinnetik?

Date: Jul 15, 2025 11:52 am Title: Chapter 6 - Conversation
I feel heartsick. It's one thing to suspect, but another to have concrete evidence.
That was ingenious on your part for how the information was relayed to them.
Gotta wonder if the coach has a family at home?
Did you see any of the documentaries about Larry Nassar, the Olympic gymnast doctor charged with molestation from years ago to present? Payment to all the victims was over one billion.
Then there were coaches who looked the other way. Well, he's rotting away in prison, given over a few hundred years in sentencing. Which is how I hope Langley ends up (after the castration.)

Date: Jul 15, 2025 10:59 am Title: Chapter 5 - Meet The Prescotts
This guy needs to be castrated. All in favor, step in line. It can go off piece by piece. His comment about enjoying the little ones the most? My stomach recoiled.
If Gus wanted to learn hockey that badly, why couldn't Brian teach him?
Oh, Joanie! Please give these two a helping insight into the coach. Maybe if Justin goes in there with Daphne as his "girlfriend," she might be more receptive to talking to him.

Date: Jul 15, 2025 10:11 am Title: Chapter 4 - Coach
Daphne? I got my first laugh with this story! :D I can just imagine the sleuthing those two will get up to. "Nancy Drew and Columbo, at your service." Everybody, watch out! ;)
Dirty ole coach! I remember a few old stories about the gym teacher. One had the teacher falling in love with Brian, only to have the coach kill himself when it came out about the relationship. Brian's catch phrase in the story is: 'if you're going to kill yourself, don't use a gun, because it's going to be someone you love who finds you.' (paraphrased) Years later, Brian goes to therapy, and the therapist turns out to be the teacher's wife.
Another one, the teacher turns out to be Justin's uncle.
SMH - I sometimes wonder where these authors come up with plots.
Back to the story ~ Do we have to be worried about Michael? Swearing on JR's life, you'd think not. In Michael's small mind, he'll probably say he crossed his fingers. However, Michael did shed some light on the subject, more so than Deb would have. I doubt even she knows the events that Michael relayed to Justin.
Also, knowing that it's an anti-Michael burns me up, especially with Michael knowing what Brian experienced way back then.

Date: Jul 15, 2025 8:43 am Title: Chapter 3 - Heading Home
Mention of the documentary that Justin was watching reminded me of a movie a saw quite some time back, with an all-star cast. The Monuments Men - A World War II platoon of art experts tasked with rescuing stolen art and cultural artifacts from the Nazis. However, since you mentioned the documentary, I'm sure you've watched.
A couple of things... First, "playing doctor" - it's very probable Brian had a broken wrist when he was at camp - and/or from the abuse he suffered from Jack.
Lord, please don't have Justin calling Michael. Debbie would be a better choice, but only marginally. She'd badger about why Justin wanted to know. So maybe not go that route. Not sure what he'll come up with.
What kind of alarm bells will go off when Brian walks into Kinnetik? At least Ted will be there.

Date: Jul 15, 2025 12:01 am Title: Chapter 2 - Head Shrinking
Wow! But at least, the doc laid it on the line about childhood trauma. At least Justin has something to fall back on, if another attack happens. I sure hope that doctor sent home a strong sedative pill he can give to Brian, at least to get him calmed. Lord, I suppose Brian will get another phone, so I hope Justin can delete all that stuff, so Brian won’t have access to it.
And yes, it sounds like grumpy Brian woke up as same-ole, same ole.
I kind of wish now that Justin hadn’t alerted the family. Because, that’s gonna create havoc.

Date: Jul 14, 2025 11:22 pm Title: Chapter 1 - Shock To The System
I’m going to try to get through this story. Back when you wrote this, I was still on sabbatical from QAF, still recovering from my three weeks in the ICU with COVID. Then both my husband’s and my daughter’s demise. But I’m trying to get back into reading. I’m trying to find things to occupy my mind and keep it busy. It’s been a tough one this last year, too. Thus the ‘banner request.’
You started this with a powerful first chapter. You laid it out there about Brian’s problem, so we know where the story goes. To be honest, the ‘ick’ factor in this chapter is ‘playing doctor.’ My stomach recoils and feels very shaky. Think of all the kids who innocently play ‘doctor.’ But with his comment about playing doctor, how is he going to react if and when he realizes “doctors” are all around him?
With the anti-characters listed, I hope Lindsay knows she brought this on with her harassment about the camp. I also think Gus’ soccer coach in camp is going to be Brian’s coach from school.
I’m a little confused regarding the “coach.” When Brian was fourteen, and went into the shower, apparently it wasn’t his “first time.” Because the pic on the phone had boys close to Gus’ age.
I was very surprised that you had all those anti’s listed. I don’t usually see that with your stories.
I refuse to read any reviews while I read an older story. I don’t want to be swayed or have spoilers. So if I get windy, e.g. this review, just go with it.

This was a great story!!! As sad as what Brian happened to Brian was and how affected he was by it, I was so happy to see him stand up to Langley in front of everyone and tell them all what he did to him when he was their age. And I loved that Justin stuck by him every step of the way and was a true partner to Brian. They truly deserve their happily ever after!!

Oh man that was good so much angst and I never knew if you were going to amp it up more each chapter. Good ending with Brian recognising he needs in depth counselling but also knowing his life is instricably meshed to Justin as his emotional anchor for life. Great job thank you
Author's Response:
Glad you liked it. I knew there were lots of folks out there that would eat up all that angsty drama. Appreciate you reading and commenting. TAG
