I'm really curious about Brian's life these last 20 years. Has "Grandpa Brian" given up a lot of his sex life? Has he had another cancer scare? Maybe another scar? Is this why he's acting so strange? So unsure of himself?
So glad you chose Jambalaya. As soon as Justin said he'd cook dinner in the last chapter, the first thing I thought was: Jambalaya. Jambalaya. for them, is like the perfect foreplay with food.
Justin let his "liquid courage" take over his better sense. That's what Brian should have done too. But why isn't Brian drinking much?
They NEED to talk. They need to get everything out in the open. Also, Justin needs to be upfront with Brian, telling him about all the pain he suffered. Until this crap is out, I don't think they can move on. So far, we don't know what all Brian is thinking, and WHY he did that stuff. And as much as Brian will want to keep it bottled up, he has to be forthright, or they don't stand a chance.

You had Brian down pat. Your descriptions of him were spot on. Justin also had very valid thoughts about Brian too. Like it was meant to be. So these two strange men had a head start.

I swear, these guys are like 16-year-old virgins; all nervous. Not even knowing how to say, "Goodnight."
We're hearing so many of Justin's thoughts, it would be interesting to know what's going on in Brian's mind. He seems so unsure of himself, which isn't normal for 30-year-old Brian. Very curious about that.

GAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! I so want to know what is going on in Brian’s head! All the enigmatic smiles and strange looks! What is he holding back in there? I feel like there’s something we don’t know.
And I’m worried about Justin’s headaches and why he doesn’t paint anymore.

Ahhh.... so, the inner-conflict isn't just one-sided. Wonderful to know! This chapter was all I needed and MORE! Loved their interactions; from shy and nostalgic to playful and innocently naughty. I love the idea that they are rediscovering each other again... Both a bit more world weary, but each still quintessentially Brian and Justin. Looking forward to the next chapter!

Brian almost seemed unsure of himself when he saw Justin talking to Peter. Has his animal magnetism declined in the last twenty years? Or has age caught up with him?
I understand that Justin wants to be cautious. He's been hurt by Brian before. So if this thing between them doesn't pan out, maybe his whole heart won't be in it.
One thing is for sure... these guys need to have a heart-to-heart.

Author's Response: Haha, yeah, that would be pretty soon, but hey, it's Brian! Anything is possible with him :D No Brian Muse is definitely one of the reasons! He's doing well financially, worse in his personal life. I honestly don't remember the timeline, I have it written down somewhere and I'm too lazy to look it up right now :D, but I know Brian didn't know about James when he broke contact with Justin. But if he ever intended to try to make amends with Justin later, that could definitely be one of the reasons he didn't end up doing it. I'm ashamed of how many unfinished stories I have, but I'm really trying to finish (almost) all of them, though it takes me a while, unfortunately.

Did Mel move out of Canada? Curious since Michael moved to be closer to them. The girls splitting up was not a shock to me. I always thought the move to Canada was one of Cowlips screw-ups. As miserable as they were before, that was a poor excuse to pick up and move. It was like the same scenario that Justin thought Brian was proposing marriage because of the bomb.
Just hearing Brian talking, you did a marvelous job of making him sound like he has really grown up. Maybe it was getting the guy away from Babylon, that helped.

Author's Response: Yes, they are aware of James, and Brian has lived in LA for eight years. No, Melanie still lives in Canada, she stayed with Brian for a while after she and Lindsay broke up, but she eventually returned to Canada. Yeah, that storyline was pretty strange, I agree with that. Dun, dun, dun, dun... That chapter was a really bad cliffhanger! Luckily I can jump to the next one right away.
Lots of deaths over the twenty years. The hardest one for me was Jennifer's. A ways back, the same thing happened to me, only I was in a halo for four months. Three breaks in my neck. So reading a death by a drunk driver hits me a little differently than other people.
I'm trying to think of a different scenario for "James and the Kids." Maybe a colleague?
I just double-checked to see if there was a Brian/Other warning... but nope. Now I'm more than a little curious.
This story has wormed it's way into me. Anxious for a lot of your stories to continue. As you've probably noticed, I haven't jumped on the MCD. I've read some in the past, but I have to be in a certain mood to read them. Yet, a couple of my favorite QAF stories, do happen to be MCD.
Well, onto reading.

Author's Response: Oh yeah, I've killed off a lot of characters and I'm right there with you, Jennifer was the hardest for me too, I didn't even want to do it at first, but I needed a reason why Jusin wasn't visiting Pittsburgh, so... well, sorry :D But my goodness, I'm so sorry this happened to you, I should have put a warning on that chapter! I understand that and I'm not going to lie, it's a sad story, but at the same time I tried to make sure there were as many beautiful moments as possible, so when you're ready, I'd love it if you read the story :)

Oh dear! It sounds like Justin did try to keep in contact with Brian. So is this mess that they're in, on Brian's shoulders?
Three chapters, and I'm still not sure how Brian let this happen. Why did Brian want to sever ties? Was there another reason, other than wanting Justin to make his NY dream come true?
The biggest question, what if Justin wasn't doing well in NY? Did Brian have a way to keep tabs on Justin, making sure he was okay?

No Place Special... for 20 years I've been waiting for someone to write a story, and use that as a title.
This is kind of scary. I know NY is a HUGE place, but it seems strange that in all these years it hasn't happened before. I'm sure Brian has been to NY many times. I'd also think Justin must have been in Pittsburgh, unless ties have been broken between him and Jennifer.
So many thoughts/questions are running through my mind.
