So... since I just finished Entwined, I came over here to read The Date. I feel awful that I have never read it before, because it was awesome... light-hearted, and comical. I loved the 'slightly more romantic' Brian, even though he still possess his snark and 'eye-rolling'. (I could see it!)
I loved Jack's playfullness, and him and Justin constantly playing 'Gotcha'!
Gus is definitely becoming his father's son... oozing charm and apparently has everyone 'falling and wanting' him... (okay, so we have one with 'men' and one with 'women'.) LOL
Lily was a hoot. I loved how she latched onto Brian - "play up Dad, so he'll like me!" She was VERY mature for an eight-year-old, and seemed certain who and what she wanted in life.
Overall, a very good read. As I said, light-hearted and fun, just what I needed.

We're thrilled that you enjoyed this tale, Cathy, and that you followed up with it after finishing "Entwined." Alois' epic story (well, one of them :D) was where the idea for "The Date" was conceived. I (Karynn) still feel privileged to have been one of the betas for that story and had great fun helping develop a couple of plot lines. I'm still in awe of the way Alois redeemed Jack; I've never read anything else like it. Not only is Jack redeemed, he becomes a loveable character that we want to see more of. <3
Brian doesn't stand a chance against Jack and Justin. :D Never mind Gus and Lily. :D :D
Gus is such a player... at eight years old! He may go for the opposite sex, but he's definitely a chip off the old block, lol.

That was really funny (Gus and Lily acting like adults and ordering Brian to keep his lips away from Justin's; Gus as a womanizer was hilarious)! I'm not sure about the kind of food they had: not what I thought they would order for a Valentine's date.

Relationship advice from Gus was probably good for Brian since he's not exactly skilled with actual 'dates'. LOL
Jamie's is a favorite restaurant for Jack and Gus, which means they periodically 'force' Brian to eat there. Lily certainly seemed to buy into it as the perfect place to celebrate Valentine's. Although Justin isn't a growing teen any longer, he just had to order some of his favorite dishes and have a bit of fun with his partner. Who wouldn't want all that artery-clogging food? *snicker*

Love Jack. He's just too cute. Lily is adorable and it's easy to see why Gus cares. Justin, on the other hand, is downright sneaky.

Can u tell me where I can read 'Entwined' before I read this? I checked both the authors fic lists and couldn't see it. I searched under title and found 'Entwined' by Triciaqaf which doesn't appear to be the story to which you are referring. Maybe I am super dense and the answer is obvious but please take pity and point me in the right direction

I'll tag you with the links on my latest FB posting for 'The Date' - third and final chapter posted this morning. (For some reason, I have you twice as an FB friend, although we have more mutual friends on one of your profiles. I'll see if I can tag you via both.)

Brian definitely fell in love with Gus when he was born - and he can allow himself to do silly things for that wonderful little boy. He might even occasionally enjoy said activities, although he won't be pleased if you mention that. LOL
