So someone has something against Brian and Justin enough to go around killing twinks that look like them. I would say Michael since he has issues with both of them, but that would be way too easy.
Ted really should let brian know about Michael's phone call. Especially if he wants to stay Brian's friend. Best or not.

Jealousy and revenge are great motivations.
Ted has no reason to keep anything from Brian, even if the exchange between them isn't written in the story, Brian would have been told.
