What a tragic story, yet the end is a new beginning for the three of them. The munchers were so mean to Brian and Gus, as if it was their fault Gus was behaving like this.

I'm not a fan of Lyndsay and Mel overall. I kind of used mine and my husbands reactions when it happened to us, magnified by a hundred. But I met people along our journey who were every bit as in denial, to the detriment of the child, as the munchers are here.

It was...difficult. But I knew there was something besides misbehavior. I went to a university medical library and started pulling books off the shelves, studied and read everything I could and finally, FINALLY, found something that sounded like my daughter. I took those pages to her doctor, who referred me to a pediatric neurologist. He made the official diagnosis. Took two years. We were worn out and by that time had a lot of self-esteem issues to work on for our child. She's in her 30's now and doing great!
