Side note - Was actually getting ready to watch 'Imitation Game' again. This movie about Alan Turing is phenomenal (and Benedict Cumberbatch as a bonus!). For those who don't know Turing's astounding and heartbreaking story (though it's obvious our distinguished authors are WELL aware of this piece of LGBTQ WWII history), please please correct that lack quickly! He pretty much single-handedly saved the freaking world and was chemically castrated for homosexuality as repayment. Took his own life at the devastatingly young age of 42. I'm so thrilled that this little tid-bit is here - and I'm glad Brian is having a bit of a historic come-to-Jesus moment as to the strength and breadth of the shoulders upon which his freedom as a gay man was so heroically borne.

Can we just say ‘Ditto’ to everything you wrote here? Yes, we both have seen ‘The Imitaion Game’ in doing our research for this story, and it’s a wonderful movie. The idea that gay men were chemically castrated in the past has haunted me (TAG) ever since, and our attempts to show this fact - and how it would impact a modern gay man - is one of the driving motivations behind our writing. This is an incredible story. I'm loving it. Just like one reviewer said, it's reminiscent of Midnight in Paris. So true. One of my all time fav movies.

Love this chapter! The lock-in party is something right out of prohibition! I like that link to yet a third era of history. Seems that no matter how far forward or backward we go in history, there is always a group of people hiding from some arcane law somewhere.
As entertaining as this story is, it is also very educational. Thank you, both, for putting in so much research and getting into the little details that flesh out historial writing. Good job, ladies!
