Now that Biden has announced the US is pulling out of Afghanistan for good, I would love to see a sequel to this series with Justin's thoughts on leaving that area of conflict. Pretty please? TAG

I loved this series. Such wonderful stories. I love AU stories about Brian and Justin meeting in different ways or their lives being different. This was very touching. Great job

I love this series so much.  I do hope you continue with some other snapshots of their life together.

OMG, this was so good.  I actually cried when Brian's knees buckled, and I KNEW Justin was ok. lol

Will there be more stories coming in this series?

Author's Response:

I could actually see and feel his relief at the point. It was so palpable! And knowing it moved someone to tears?? Such a compliment. Thank  you.

There will be more but these particular stories come from specific inspirational moments - something I see or hear gets under my skin like the sand in Justin's boots. Hang in there - I'm sure something will strike me before long.

Your Brian and Justin were definitely in character. Brian may be all big and tough, but you know if his Sunshine went missing, he'd have reacted JUST like this. So good job *claps you*

And the relationship between Gus and Justin was so beautiful and also very realistic. I loved how at first he wasn't a fan of Justin, and you explained why perfectly. Logically (to a kid) it made sense, this guy had suddenly come into his life and was taking away some of his precious time with his dad - but the way you had them bond = <3 Gus trying on Cap's uniform was so cute. And when he asked him to be his dad my ovaries literally exploded LOL.

If you ever feel like coming back to this story, I would be all for it LOL

Author's Response:

Thank you for that feedback. I am not a stickler for 'in-character' but I don't like to take them toooooo far away from canon. :)

And the series will continue, it just comes in waves at times and the inspiration is usually a photo or story I read in the news. So, who knows when the muse will strike me again!

DUDE! I am still crying reading this - but mu years of sadness are now tears of joy, because they found him AND HE'S SAFE. I legit was so nervous reading this, and I felt how scary this was for Brian and the family. Gus having panic attacks was what got me the most :( I wish this would go on forever and ever. I love this universe you have created.

Author's Response:

He's FOUND!!!

I didn't really understand the heartbreaking job that 'Messengers' with condolence calls have. If you get the opportunity, check out the trailers for a movie called The Messenger, about this very issue.

I tried my hardest to keep both Brian and Justin in character in this story. When the angst gets to a certain point it's almost impossible not to let them uncharacteristically cry themselves to sleep! Let me know if you feel the relationship between Justin and Gus is realistically represented. That was a concern and one of the reasons I seldom write Gus into my stories.

Awww, thank you! And hopefully the third and fourth reading will be just as enjoyable? LOL

I sincerely appreciate the re-read and support.

HOW HAVE I NOT READ THIS BEFORE? You're literally one of my favourite authors. I am hanging my head in shame LOL. This was SO good. And your banner totally drew me in.

Author's Response:

Fear not! You're reading it now! ;) All things in their time, right?

I'm glad you liked it. This was actually written very quickly and for me that's very, very, very unusual. And I have a special place in my heart for the military. I'll add more to it someday, 'cuz I just love me some Col. Jasper Trent! LOL

Author's Response:

Have a cuppa, wake up, do your daily thing... It'll be here later, waitin' for ya. LOL (Remember -- the ending is happy!)
