Exactly! One is drowing in his loss and the other is pretending he's over his loss (which we don't really know, yet). But they are both going to find their bridge across it all. If that makes sense... hopefully it will soon.

Thank you. Glad you like the start. As is my usual, the pic came first and the story grew around that. Weird, I know, but I start playing with the images and backstories start popping into my head. LOL

Happy New Year! And thanks for being patient. I don't think as quickly as I used to. LOL. I'm thinking maybe six or seven chapters for this one - at least that's what my plan is. Then again, plans... well, you know. <G>

Fabulous start! Clearly Sonny is Justin but why is he referred to as Sonny? Is that what his Grandma used to call him?

Yep, Sonny is Justin. Sonny is his nickname from his grandpa. The reason he doesn't use 'Taylor' will come out in the next couple of chapters. It's not horrendous, but something rather run of the mill, actually. At least in that part of the country. Sonny was also my uncle's nickname, and it's kind of an homage to him. (This whole story is kind of an homage to people -and cats- from my past in KY.)

Hopefully you'll be crying before the end, but this is NOT a Major character death fic. Minor character, yeah, but neither Brian nor Justin will die in at least one of my stories - for a change! Ha!

Hopefully, all will be revealed in the next couple of chapters. I don't expect this to be a long, long saga - at least I don't think it will be - but there is a connection between these two losses.
And, yeah, Alma is a cool kitty.
