Very Good Story. such insightfulness at the look of Debbie and Vic's life. It's such a believable prequel to canon. It also shows why Debbie was so grudgingly against Vic finding happiness with a partner, when she was left with nothing. The way you spinned this story, I have to wonder if Deb ever had another sexual experience other than her unsatisfied 10 minutes. You really did good with this story...

I am so excited to receive your review on this particular story, Bjluv. It is one that gets far less attention than most of mine but is very dear to my heart. I loved the relationship between Debbie and Vic and always wanted to know more about them and why they were such a close brother and sister team. One day I decided I would just give their story my own interpretation. I'm so happy you like where I took them.
Actually, I don't think Deb wanted to keep Vic all to herself all the time, but I do think she couldn't help feeling left out when Vic spent more time with his lover than with her. If you think about it, the apple doesn't fall from the tree. Mikey didn't care if Brian had sex with other men, but was only threatened when Justin became the center of Brian's attention. Both Debbie and Michael craved being #1 in the lives of the two men they loved so deeply. It may be flawed thinking, but it is very human.

I like this glimpse into the lives of Deb and Vic pre Liberty Avenue. Vic remains one of my favorite, although under-developed, characters in the series - I love fandom stories where he plays a larger fatherly or supportive friend role in Brian's life. Your story explains the very close relationship between the siblings but also makes you see how Deb's jealousy over Vic finally moving forward with his own life, caused her to act so irrationally and hastily. Their closeness and co-depency on each other was sadly bound to lead to heartache whether through new relationships or death. Would very happily read more if you do consider writing further storylines centering around Vic and/or Debbie :-)

I love your comments on this story, Nickknack. They are so thoughtful. This story received the least amount of reads and comments of all my work, but I'm very proud of it. I think Deb and Vic were an integral part of the entire QAF story. Vic represented what the past was like being gay, while the others represented what it was like in the present and future. Deb was, of course, the heart of the show. Everyone, especially Brian (even more so, I believe, than Michael) needed her as a steady hand and unfailing support in their lives.
I agree that we needed to know more about the two of them, which is why I decided to tackle their own personal stories. And I am especially pleased that you approve of my take on what made them the people they became. I wanted to understand why they were so close and why they tolerated each other's behaviors. I haven't written anything new in quite a while, so I can't say if I will be able to tackle more of their story, but I appreciate your thoughts on the matter. Deb's treatment of Vic at the end of his life always felt wrong to me. Life didn't turn out the way she wanted it so she did her best to make others follow her tune.

I agree with you that Debbie made some big mistakes with Vic towards the end of his life, but I do feel that she had terrible regrets over it later on. I think the relationship between brother and sister was complicated, thus I wanted to give them a background that might explain why they were so attached to each other.
