I have to say having lived through a few hurricanes that this was very realistic.  Good job.

Author's Response:

What a lovely compliment.  I've actually never been in a hurricane, but have a number of earthquacks and tornadoes.  I imagine the fear and angst is very similar, especially when worrying about what is happening to someone else that you love during that time.  Thank you for such great comments.  Huge hugs, Grammy

Another great story from an amazing writer.  You always make me happy with your stories and having lived in Fl. at the time of Andrew which luckily for us changed course since our area was supposed to be hit very hard, I felt I was living this story.  I did get thru Charlie, Frances (had to evacuate for 2 weeks) and Jeanne (no power or water for 17 days) , you realize just how powerful Mother Nature is and should not to be messed with. Living out of a bucket or bottle of water is interesting.  Makes you take nothing for granted and to appreciate love even more. Thank you, thank you.

Author's Response:

Im so happy to know that you came through those hurricanes in one piece, and I'm sure the memory will always be there to make you appreciate your survival.  My parents lived in Florida for years and luckily only suffered minor damage (the loss of a tree) during one hurricane.  However, my much younger brother lost his entire attached garage and part of his roof thanks to his hurricane experience.  He sold his house not long after and moved to California.  He was born and raised in Texas, but I'm a native Californian.  I warned him about earthquacks, but he said he'd take his chances.  I think the hurricane put the fear of Mother Nature in him and he will risk anything else to stay away from hurricane prone areas.  Thank you so much for reading this story and letting me know that you enjoyed it, Mamab.  Huge hugs, Grammy
