Ethan is a grade A con artist.  Please help Justin to see through him.

I forgot to comment on Ethan purchasing a new bow. No WONDER they were broke. My granddaughter plays violin down in Virginia. First chair. She's been playing for eleven years. They recently replaced her bow, and it was $875.00. And that wasn't even the most expensive one.

The Crook!

I really hope Justin INSISTS on seeing the actual cost of the bills. He better ask to see rent costs, and what all the rent includes. If Ethan won't tell him, go to the building super or something.

Yes... I'm upset!

Author's Response:

Yep, violin bows ARE super expensive. No wonder Justin's extra $800 disappeared. But, keep in mind that, just because an abuser promises something, it doesn't mean they'll follow through. If anyone actually thinks that Ethan will show justin all the bills, they are even more naïve than justin is. Empty promises are great way to end an argument tho... TAG

WHAT A PIECE OF WORK!

When Ethan feels backed in a corner, and doesn't know how to convince you he's right, he goes on the defensive and gets raging mad, making Justin feel bad for angering him. I had a very good friend in an abusive relationship, and did everything short of dragging her out of it. But it all comes to a head one day. Just like an alcoholic hits rock bottom, something will happen that Justin won't have any choice but to get out.

Hopefully, he's still alive to get out.

And I can't believe Justin didn't retort or get angry at Ethan for calling Daphne a cunt. He should have decked Ethan for calling his BEST FRIEND that! That was wrong on so very many accounts.

And yes, let's apologize with the poem - that he didn't really write - (where did he rip it off from? Justin didn't question him if he knows calligraphy.) and a gift, making Justin once more, happy and content.

ASSHOLE!

Daphne... run to Brian!!!!

Wonderful writing.  I can understand the way it is going.  Of course, we are always looking for that happy ending, but we are willing to endure since the adventure will be worth it.  Fantastic as always.

Another great update.

I must say, I didn't think it was possible to dislike this Ethan any more than I already did. But then he had to go and call Daphne a cunt, and I realized that it was, indeed, possible. Grrr.

Poor Daphne, she might think that she got Justin to better consider his finances, but her influence won't be sufficient.

The beginning of your chapters are always informative and this one shows how Ethan could dupe Justin and make him see a "reality" very far from the truth.

If only Justin could quit this job and go back to the diner; Ethan could be able to use this trick twice.

I know I might get strong reactions, but when you have difficulties to buy your own food, isn't it weird to get a pet? While I'm angering people, I also doubt that Justin was able to afford a mobile phone with a camera in 2003 or one which could host a GPS tracker. Sorry, sometimes I can't overlook technicalities.

Author's Response:

As for the pet . . . keep in mind that, just because Ethan says they're having financial problems, doesn't mean it's necessarily true. He's got his own motives for keeping Justin guessing about money. *grrrr*

As for the phone . . . I'm not writing this as if it was 2003 - in my mind it's set in current day. Guess I need to make that more clear in the story. Thanks for letting me know that was confusing you.
