Great insight into Brian‘s emotions and why he doesn’t feel loved. TAG

Author's Response:

Thank you! It should be very clear now why Kindred Souls resonated so well with me...

It's a shame Brian's past keeps coming to haunt him. He'll never escape it.

Cynthia is too intuitive. She knows something isn't right but will she find out before his treatments are over is the question.

All Justin can be is understanding. Brian needs him to be so. I guess lemon bars and coffee will make a good breakfast for the next morning. If they can enjoy themselves after their unexpected guest leaves.

I was so happy to see an update. Thank you so much for that. Good chapter. Brian had a lot of introspection. Hope the visit with Deb goes good.

Hugs, Cathy

Brian should tell Cynthia as she can handle this kind of news and she could manage to avoid disruption of service to Kinnetik clients. What is Debbie up to?

Author's Response:

We're about to bounce back to a familiar scene from the series at Kinnetik...soon. I took the encounter with Debbie at the diner out of order from canon, on purpose. ;)

Brian better watch out; Cynthia is a very clever woman and will probably figure out what's going on sooner than he would like.

Brian is definitely right about not telling Michael because he would make it all about him and try to butt in just like he told Justin.

The diner scene was heartbreaking with Deb rushing past Brian without acknowledging him. But now she's on his doorstep! Wonder what's up with that!

Love how Justin is taking care of Brian already; trying to prepare him for what's to come and keeping his strength up.

Looking forward to more!

*Hugs*

Deb

Author's Response:

Thanks :) Sorry for the cliffhanger, but it helps me get the next chapter started with a good hook. I have lots of plans, and things are going to get WAY complicated.

If anyone ever wondered why Brian Kinney was the way he was, they needn’t look any further than how he was raised.

^

This is SO accurate. My heart hurts for what Brian went through as a child, but it explains so much about the way he is.

I'm glad Debbie has come to visit, as much as I love Debbie, for someone who says she loves him like a son, I don't like the way she's treated him in the past (when Brian outed him to his work colleagues, yes that was bad, but she acted like she'd never speak to him ever again when she told him to look after himself) but maybe I am just overprotective.

Cynthia is going to know something isn't right with Brian, I wonder if she'll be able to stay quiet and monitor him from the sidelines, or if she'll confront him?

Fantastic chapter as always :)

Author's Response:

I sort of think she knew in the series...in the scene where Ted does the Dandy Lube presentation and she shoves him off toward the bathroom telling him to, "Make [Brian] proud," she doesn't seem to be totally unaware of the situation that led to Ted doing the presentation.

And it's no secret that I love overanalyzing this character and his past. ;)

Great chapter.  Different from the series, but still similar in ways.  Terrific writing.

Author's Response:

I'm planning to still weave in things from the series. I chose to take this particular part out of order. But I'm not skipping over what happens in the middle of what I've already used, I promise.
