OK, I’m just gonna give up and write ‘Poor Brian’ as my review for every single chapter from here on out. LOL. TAG

Author's Response:

Ha, I was thinking with the last one that you were going to be thinking that through the whole story. ;)

Wow, powerful chapter written so well.  Could feel the pain that Brian was experiencing both physical and emotional.  You write the complex character that Brian is so perfectly.

Author's Response:

Thank you so much! <3 It makes me happy to hear I've accomplished what I was going for!

I fucking love this man so much, and I hate how Jack and Joan broke him emotionally as a child. He's spent so long being dependent on himself, that he feels he's a burden to anyone when he needs them most. It really shows what sort of shitty childhood he had if that's his mentality, you know?

I hope he ends up telling Cynthia. In my head, I can see her being crushed, but knowing just how to "deal with him", you know?

I do love how you have him recognising that he loves Justin and that he DOES want a future with him, it's just so sad that he can't yet verbalise it.

But I am glad that Justin is there taking care of him and just being there for him when he needs it most.

Author's Response:

As much as I wish they'd explored more of his childhood in the series, the fact that they didn't gives us more room to explore it in fanfic, I suppose. I think he knew what he wanted in the series, from much earlier on than we're "told." But because we can't "see" his thoughts on TV like we can in a story like this, we weren't privy to it. That's another thing I get to play with here.

Justin knows how to read him...he knows what to do. He's read the Kinney Operating Manual, cover to cover. ;)

I love that you're loving the story.

Thank you so much for this update. Your writing is so descriptive...  glasses clinked against one another on the shelf in the kitchen, the refrigerator opened and closed, and plastic crackled as Justin unscrewed the lid on a bottle... Amazing!

Thank goodness Justin was in the loft when Brian got home. Brian needs to let those thoughts and feelings of control and vulnerability, out of his system, and quit berating himself for needing the caring comfort and love from the few people that are aware of his circumstances. And quit saying, "I'm Fine"!

Poor Brian... scared of the feelings of love. Of rejection. Boy, his parents needed to be arrested and have the key thrown away for their abusive upbringing of him.

Aprepitant is a drug that helps control nausea during radiation treatments. Take it one hour before your radiation treatment. (my grandmother and mother have both had breast cancer) which is why I'm aware of foods and medications during radiation. So far at 62, I'm happy to say I seem to have broken that tradition.

Looking forward to your continuation of this wonderful story.

XOXO ~ Cathy

Author's Response:

This is Brian Kinney we're talking about...nothing is ever easy when it comes to feelings. ;)

I owe the attention to sensory detail to my high school creative writing teacher...I wanted to work a lot of that in here because we are working from Brian's POV in 3rd person limited, and if he has his eyes closed, his focus will be more on what he's hearing going on.

Jack and Joan are two of my least favorite characters, for sure. Pretty sure they're only topped by Chris Hobbs.

I'm sorry to hear of your mother and grandmother, but I'm glad that you seem to have broken the tradition so far. The same is true for me and I hope that continues.

Thanks for reading and always taking the time to comment!

Oh my! Another heartbreaking chapter. You can tell Justin is treading a fine line while trying hard not to 'mother' Brian. And Brian is doing the same with trying not to push Justin away becuase it's so hard for him to accept help from anyone.

I hope Brian will soon realize that Justin truly does love him.

Looking forward to more!

*Hugs*

Hard lessons finally forced upon himself to learn. Justin being there will a big help. Brian just has to face it. Like justin said needing help doesn't make him weak

. It only makes him human.

Author's Response:

Exactly. This is a tough situation for someone with a personality and life philosophy like Brian's.

Poor guys: Brian for being stubborn and needing to hide; Justin for wanting to help and be there for Brian. And it's the first day...

Author's Response:

Yep...it's the first day. This is very difficult for someone who likes to be in control and doesn't like to show weakness or vulnerability.
