I haven't been reading much of late. Practiclly nothing, to be honest. But when I started reading this, I was soooo excited - a period piece that isn't a period piece!!! Jackpot! And now I find myself feeling so in tune with Brian - excuse me, with Egbert - and all his neuroses. When I got to this part, to his reaction to Justin eating a muffin, I could literally feel his pain. I have a (pretty common, actually) neurosis called misophonia. I have painfully painful visceral reactions to sounds like crinkling paper, eating noises, etc. Once I had to get up and walk out on a college final because the woman next to me was chewing gum. God I wanted to rush him out of the room right then! I don't have many other OCDs that are life interrupting, but that one - yeah, it's painful.
Okay, just had to say that while it was still beating me up. Now, off to finish the chapter.

So cute; A Jealous Egbert. That happened pretty fast, what with only a few visits. Instant attraction? Or has it been so long since he has seen anyone, that the thought Justin might not come back, devastating to him? Perhaps it's little of both. It was nice to see him not go postal when Justin shoulder bumped him, and then he managed to do it back. Ah, they are already endearing together.
So the folder held a secret. I presume our myterious B & J are two male lover's. Because, if Alma said she was 'shamed' and he 'violated the marriage bed' and his soul was ruined, I can only imagine it had to be with another man. But I thought we had a 'B' and an Andrew Peeble? Or was the 'A' of the other letter suppose to be Alma? Perhaps I need to wait for further clues. But I have a sneaking suspicion that one of the original men back then will be related to Brian. But as far as a B & J... I found the initials scarily the same as Brian and Justin.
(Sixth paragraph down): .... I was bordering on hangry (hungry?) I've been feeling a little funny about pointing out errors, but I figured if you were hoping to possibly publish this book... well, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered you with it. But it's nice to know it doesn't bother you.
I'm looking forward to the next chapter, and hopefully a closer look into all the mystery guests.

Hehe, no we don't mind at all. As I said in my previous response, we usually finish reading and editing late at night so we do tend to miss bits... but this time, hangry was actually correct. It's a clever mashup of the words hungry and angry, and an adjective that describes being irritable due to hunger. We think it perfectly describes how Justin would feel when he's not eaten LOL
We are glad you are enjoying our little mystery. The initials are creepy, huh?

Ohhh, and the mystery deepens! I love mysteries!
So glad that Justin was able to convince him that Ethan was not his boyfriend and never would be. I was worried he would end up kicking Justin out and telling him never to return.

Curiouser and curiouser! But I do believe Justin is persistent enough to stick with it. I'd love to see Daphne introduced to Eggy... she's just as stubborn as Justin! Nice to see "Eggy" trying so hard to move past his OCD.
