Very good move from Peter, and then Carol. I fear howJohn will react when Peter will ask him to clarify how his boyfriend is partner with someone else for so long and still in love with him, based on the paintings in the Carol's gallery.

John is not living in reality so his answer may not make a lot of sense.  I'm glad Peter went to the gallery and talked to Carol.
