Brian wants to be sober for Gus. Having Gus in the loft at the time was a huge encouragement to not take the drink. Now for him to do the same when Gus isn't around.

I'm wondering why Justin didn't suggest Brian to empty the bottles in the sink. It could lessen the risk to drink.
I think it's good for Brian to unload some of his past on Justin.
