Great ending. Good closure for everyone.  A very sad tale and I'm sure it woudl be difficult to write.

Author's Response:

Thank you! <3 I'm glad you felt it gave everyone closure. Writing death fics is a challenge, but I also love to write emotion, so it fits in well.

Oh that was a perfect ending to this au story I loved the depth you went into of grief of  Debbies boys but ended it with community and love. Good job thank you xx

Author's Response:

Thank you so much! <3 There is more to come in this verse! Next up is some fluff and humor with a dash of angst (just because I'm me). I'm so glad you loved the story.

An absolute tear-jerker, and a lovely way to end this story. I can so easily picture the final scene with people gathering on Liberty Avenue to celebrate Debbie's life and feel close to her spirit, forever linked to the diner and their Avenue.

Author's Response:

Thank you so much! I'm you loved the ending! I felt like I could see it too, when we thought it up and then writing it. And it felt perfect. <3

Amazing story.  We should all die knowing we were as loved as Debbie.  Definitely tissue box time.  Fantastic writing and a perfect ending.  10+

Author's Response:

Thank you so much! She certainly was loved, and so important to so many people. Her presence will be missed greatly. <3

Fantastic story with a wonderful ending.  She may be gone, but not forgotten.

Author's Response:

Thank you so much - you are so right! Her spirit lives on.

Wonderful ending.

Loved the gloom of the funeral to the sun coming out analogy.

From the rainbow hearts the girls made to people out in the street with rainbow flags, it all screams Debbie.

Great job with this story.

Author's Response:

Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it! She would have been so proud of her boys, I think. <3

I didn't expect Joan to show up, but I loved the way you handeled it.  She has no reason to be there except to cause trouble.  Love that Michael said they can do it together.  I thought Michael coming to Justin's aid when he saw him talking to Joan was a great scene.  Great job, as always.  Excellent story.

Author's Response:

Thank you! <3 I'm glad you liked Michael and Justin there. The last thing either of them wanted was for Brian to have to interact with Joan on a day that was already emotionally trying enough.

Thought Joan was going to show up, but no idea Justin would be so venomous when talking to her. Michael was very diplomatic about it. Thank goodness Brian didn't see her, but have a feeling he knew she was there.

Finally Brian's taking his pain in hand so to speak. Him and Rob doing yoga, good.

The graveside service is the last hurdle. They'll make it through. They are doing a bit better now.

Author's Response:

Justin was pissed that she had the nerve to show up, and was in protective mode over his husband, for sure. (And shhhh, don't tell Brian he was doing real yoga...hahaha.)

Why Joanie showed up is beyond me.  Letting someone throw her out would have been nice.

Author's Response:

Justin and Michael took care of it without causing a scene, which was key to making sure Brian didn't know she was even there. ;)

Great chapter.  So glad Brian didn't have to deal with Joanie.  Wonderful writing.

Author's Response:

Thanks, and me too! I didn't want him to have to deal with her, but I also thought she'd probably show up...being a church lady and all.

Great chapter. it is always poignant when someone tells the story of how someone impacted their life.  Maybe Justin will share how Debbie impacted his life. While Brian knows Debbie took him in, there may be things he can still share or didn't share int he past.  It would give them another way to connect- not that they need this but it might help in the mourning process.

Author's Response:

Thank you! <3 The rest of this one is already written, but I will keep that in mind for future stories! :)

Thank you Jack for dying.

He thought he owed her thanks. How wrong he was.

He loved her, she knew that. It's all the thanks she ever needed.

Author's Response:

For sure. She didn’t do it because she wanted anything in return...she did it because she cared.

Touching difficult chapter.

Brian's heart is shattered. Luckily his friends will get him through this. Justin will get them both through this.

Author's Response:

He is definitely struggling with this, but Justin is doing all he can!

RIP DEBBIE.  YOUR STAR WILL BE FOREVER BRIGHT.

There are no words to explain how wonderful this chapter is.

Author's Response:

Thank you so much! <3 Debbie will always shine bright, that’s for sure.

Justin is so good with Brian.  I could feel his pain and Justin's pain.  Leaving someone you love is always difficult and the idea that they will no longer be there for you is really impossible to describe and live through.  You've done a great job describing the anguish and difficulty someone feels when they lose a lvoed one.

Author's Response:

Thank you so much <3  They're all struggling a bit right now, for sure. I love writing this Brian and Justin and how they relate to one another.

Silly me, I though I could read this chapter without crying... No chance! Now I'm all tense worrying about where Brian has gone. Very dramatic.

Author's Response:

This story is definitely an "all the tears" sort of story! Tissues recommended, probably from here till the end. Thanks for reading <3

This had to be difficult to write.  Now where did Brian go?

Author's Response:

Yes, the whole story was hard to write. The next part especially. I promise he's okay. ;) He just isn't where Justin expected.

Great  chapter.   Terrific writing.  Dealing with death and grief is difficult and you handled it perfectly.

Thank you for the wonderful compliment. :) I'm really glad you're enjoying the story!

Well written chapter.  Death is so difficult and we all mourn differently.  So sad, but this is life.  And, on a personal note, 8 people in my life passed away this month.  Hard to believe, just want this month to end.

Author's Response:

I'm so sorry to hear that you've had so much death in your life lately. Sending love to you. <3

I wonder what Brian is keeping to himself.  Good that Justin, Rob and Adam are there to help.

Author's Response:

He has a lot of really great support. <3 And all will be revealed over the next few chapters... ;)

So so sad.

Brian does seem to be taking Deb's death added than Michael. Is he truly hiding something from everyone?

Author's Response:

Yes, we'll be finding out more about that in the coming chapters. There's something that was between Brian and Deb that is making this really hard on Brian.

Cuaght up on the story tonight.  I just really enjoy the normal things you put into the stories.  Playing in the park, small conversations, sleeping and the little ways they take care of each other.  It really gets you feeling like you are experiencing the events.  difficult to read as I remember feeling the deep feelings of loss when my dad died and he's been dead for 35 years.  Imagining lossing any of the people in my life now would be devastating.

Author's Response:

Thank you! I think it’s fun to include all of those little “asides” that make things more like real life. When I write, I put myself in the character’s headspace and picture the scene, then I just write it down. I’m sorry to hear about your dad. <3
