It was a tough discussion but Gus needed to know and it will be better to tell Gus about the bashing when he is about older and together so they can comfort each other after.

Gus really is a smart little boy who has a great deal of empathy for others which he inherited from Brian who is the exact same way.

Justin and Brian are good role models for Gus and that means Gus will be a good role model for Colin as he figures out the world around him.

Author's Response:

Gus will be a great big brother.  Justin and Brian have to weigh Gus' childhood undertanding with keeping things like hte bashing at a discussion that he can understand.

Wow such a hard subject to talk to kids about. The fear is always to let children know they should stand up for their rights, values and others but the risks are always there of injury

Author's Response:

Bullying is a tough subject that has to be discussed.  However, you are right that there has to be a balance between standing up for the right thing and scaring children.

Brian and Justin are really good parents.  I loved the discussion about bullying.

Author's Response:

Thank you.  Bullying is a tough subject and I think Justin handled it well.

I love when Brian calls Justin by his first name.

Tough chapter with the bullying part. Gus is lucky not to be bullied with two mums and two dads.

Author's Response:

I felt that Gus was old enough to hear some of the struggles that his dads went through. Bullying is never easy to deal with and Justin did a good job in discussing it with Gus.
