First of all sorry that I am just reading this. I have been playing at writing a story. I am not and never will be a writer, but this idea was in my head driving me nuts. I mentioned it to a twitter friend and she said write it. I write as a reader not a writer and it is awful that way, but the story just grew and grew. It is coming close to ending and maybe then I will get some peace from the voices in my head. Now as for this story. It is wonderful and very touching to me as my sister has had 2 Irish Setters who were beauties. When they lost the lst one, they got another who was much younger and after a couple years, they bred her and she had a perfect litter of 10. Five boys, five girls. Their holiday card that year was all ten pups in a basket with their colorful ribbons to know who was who. They went to loving families who loved them as was their mother was loved. Sadly she is now gone, but will always be remembered. Fantastic writing as always. Hope all is wel with you.

No apologies are necessary, Mamab. I know what it is like to have an idea swirling around in your head and a muse that won't let you alone till you write your thoughts down. Fanfic writers like myself are not pros, but we do it out of love, so just enjoy yourself.
I'm so pleased that you enjoyed this story. It was entirely inspired by an Irish lassie who loves animals as much as I do. I had to choose Irish Setters to honor her, but I've always thought they are beautiful dogs. And I can easily imagine Brian, Justin, and Gus falling in love with them. This story was great. I cried through most of it. Brian is a big softy and was probably happy to find a way to keep them without it being his decision.

What an adorable story. Debbie was a perfect name for a Red Setter, but maybe Liberty would have been named Michael. Picture him having an accident and giving everyone puppydog eyes.

It's obvious why I chose the name Debbie, but Liberty is because Brian's opinion about owning dogs was liberated by that adorable little bundle of fur, thus the name Liberty.
