You've written this very well. I never did like this episode, it struck me that Mikey after all his years of trying to keep Brian the same has suddenly changed his tune.

This made me feel sad, remembering those devastating scenes once again. What makes it so sad to me is that Brian didn't seem capable himself of recognising his ability to love and how often he acted on the love he felt for Justin, Gus and his friends. This was a hard time to watch them go through and you have captured the emotions exactly.
