Thank you.  I think that canon's failure to deal with the effects that the whole bashing arc had on Brian was one of the most egregious failures.  Not just the bashing itself, but being thrust into the role of primary care giver to someone who was suffering not just physical issues, but severe PTSD as well.  That was so far outside Brian's whole experience and self-image that it must surely have changed him profoundly, but it was never even really acknowledged.
