Thank you. I have to admit that this story will always hold a special place in my heart. Partly because it was my first long one, but also because it was written post S3 so it's not haunted by cancer, the Pink Posse, the ridiculous split ups of S4 and S5. And also, of course, because Vic is still alive.

Thank you. I think that canon's failure to deal with the effects that the whole bashing arc had on Brian was one of the most egregious failures. Not just the bashing itself, but being thrust into the role of primary care giver to someone who was suffering not just physical issues, but severe PTSD as well. That was so far outside Brian's whole experience and self-image that it must surely have changed him profoundly, but it was never even really acknowledged.

Yes. This was written pre S4 and S5 when I guess I thought it was still possible to rehabilitate the women. So having Linds really stop and "see" the boys' relationship and Mel and Brian reaching a better understanding were ways to explore how that might happen.

Yes. Mikey just may be in a spot of bother. And it's the sort of bother that Mel would recognize as being a big deal. Not to mention that it targeted Justin, which would also not make her happy. She might have thought Brian was fair game, but not sweet little Justin.
