This was great. I love the whole idea of Vic rescuing the kids and giving them a better life. It actually made perfect sense that the kids would follow Vic's lead and say he was their godfather, even though they'd only known him a day. They knew they'd be better off with him than anywhere else they'd end up, or even than where they'd been. I'd love to see this story continue. Kind of an updated version of the old TV show Family Affair.
