I had to finally read this, after finding out today who you are. It's something I've put off. Just the content made me feel nauseous. But, I was hoping it would be a bad dream in the end. But, I did like it, if only after the ending. I do have one question though, something I've wondered about since the first time I watched the show. What did Brian mean when he told Michael, "I know your secret identity"?
Good job with the story. You gave true meaning to the hesitancy of Michael. I loved how you described the downward spiral of the family and relationships. I REALLY loved how Brian ignored, then blew off Mikey the next morning, telling him, "It was just a fuck." If that's what it was, and yet Brian kept going back to Justin, how could Michael at the end say, "Justin is not Brian's boyfriend"? Delusional. Yep, so very glad it was all a premonition.

Thank God it's just a dream.
It would be the end of our little family would Brian really have done the deed with Michael.
The outcome could have been utter disaster and it might not only have broken up the family but the Avenue as well.
For once Michael made the right decision and stopped Brian.

I liked that Justin decided that was the staw that broke the camel's back.
I'd love a follow up where Brian wants him back but Justin doesn't care and Brian first acts like, "It's his loss, his decision who he wants to be with. I can take it or leave it," but gets utterly bored with his old lifestyle and has to actually has to face his feelings and admit to himself that he cares about Justin.
Since that would take a good long while, it would be funny if Justin had found someone else in between, especially someone in whom Brian cannot find any flaws. It would turns out Justin told the new guy about him, describing him as a brilliant add man, a good dad, a loyal friend, and saying that they broke up because they wanted different things out of the relationship, placing no blame and never complaining about him.
And New Guy has no insecurities and is totally fine with Brian being around, making Brian feel really off balance, wondering if he has lost "It" that Justin's new beau should not feel threatened in the least by him.
Sorry. I'm letting my imagination run away with this.
I did like your take on this. I think you are right that Michael would not see it as just a fuck, that Ben would not just roll with it, and that the repercussions would be ugly and long lasting.
Lucky for Michael, Brian knew how much Michael loved Ben, helping Michael to get over the idiotic teenage fantasy that was holding him back from fully commiting to his relationship with Ben. "I know your secret identity," indeed.

That's a very interesting fic idea you have there!! I'm glad you enjoyed this little story. Michael made a very responsible decision when he told Brian to get out, because it would have turned their world upside down.
