I love suspense/thriller fics (I'm a BIG fan of Dean Koontz)... Anyway, I gave this some thought, and I like the Gus and JR angle. Only, Michael has planted the evidence leading to it. He's upset because he has made some major screw-ups lately (as only Michael can do), and he hasn't been able to afford to give support money for JR for a long time, resulting in Mel being in the process of having his parental rights revoked.
