Exquisite writing. Very well done indeed. The emotion flows without interruption from beginning to end, and you don't fall back into stereotypes of overused tropes at all. Excellent work.

I am reading these one by one and honey let me tell you, you are on FIRE with these glimpses into the boy's lives. I will keep reading as they come.

You word this so well.  It makes you think that without the family there to put their two cents in they can be happy.  Oh they still fight, but then they make up and all is right in their world.

You have SUCH a beautiful way with words, my goodness. There was nothing about this that I didn't love.

Oh, lord... what can I say? This is so heartwrenchingly on point, so poetically crafted, so sadly happy.

"That's the one thing they never tell you, how unnerving it can be to have everything you want. How the fear of losing it is oftentimes worse than the ache of never having it at all."

Those few lines sum up the fears of all humans, that desperation that drives us to hold on too tightly or let go too quickly. That's the kind of pain that is so familiar and so foreign to Brian at the same time, and you've captured it so very well.

Thank you for this. Really, thank you.
