Sometimes the dialogue gets a bit confusing as to who's speaking, especially when there are a lot of characters. It might help if you tag the dialogue a bit more often (like 'Brian said' etc.)
I'm so glad you had them bring up the anniversary party. It has always bugged me how it just got blown off. That is not something someone says in the heat of the moment unless they are a truly heinous person. To even think something like that requires a level of near sociopathy in someone's mental state, I think.

I love Zaden. It's so great to see a strong female character - something that was seriously lacking in the original series, except for Daphne, who wasn't around enough. Jen sort of became that later, but the potential of the character was never realized. Mel could've been, but like most male writers, they mistake being strong for being a bitch.

Exactly my thoughts with Mel. She was written like a bitchy jealous shrew to an extreme in the first and second series and don't get me started on the custody case. Ugh.

Man, Michael has really devolved back into the jerk he was in season 1 - worse maybe. I can't believe he wouldn't at least notice how sick Ben was! Self-absorbed prick!
I like how Brian, and even Justin to some extent, have become almost parental figures to Hunter. He certainly needs them, especially when Ben is still refusing to take care of himself. For a guy who's obsessed with healthy living he sure ignores his health!
And of course Michael uses this as an excuse to stay at Britin. I'm curious why he doesn't care about Hunter at all anymore? What happened to take him from the guy that ran with Hunter to keep him safe, to barely acknowledging his existence? Is it jealousy over his relationship with Ben, or more likely Brian?
Gus is sure growing up to be an amazing kid. It's an awesome choice to have him and Hunter be so close.
I love Mel telling those two off! God, they're utterly ridiculous! And Brian sending Michael's stuff back to him was awesome!
Okay, time for me to sleep, but I'll be back to reading once my eyelids will stay open!

I love when people start getting a wake up call as to how much Brian is not an asshole. It always killed me in the show how those who should've known better held onto their delusions.
The way Brian and Justin take care of each other is so sweet. The intensity of their connection from the very first episode is one of the best I've ever seen on screen. You're capturing it really well, along with Brian's snark, which is one of the quintessential parts of Brian Kinney.

This is actually my second time reading this series, but the first was on my phone, which makes it tough to leave reviews. Now that I have some free time to read it again on my desktop, I wanted to make sure to leave some comments. I can't wait to dive back in, because I absolutely love your fics! These will always be my go to when I need some good Michael and Lindsay bashing, hee hee. I really appreciate how you do it in a way that is both believably consistent with their characters, and that also doesn't give them the cop out of being insane and needing a mental institution.
I do want to recommend maybe getting someone to help you with grammatical editing. Your writing is fantastic and really sucks in the reader, but the technical side of things can detract a bit from the overall experience.
This first chapter really starts off with a bang! You do a great job of firmly establishing right off the bat where the characters are, both in a plot sense and the state of the relationships with each other. Michael's weaselish nature is already evident! The idea of anyone asking for $300k is mind boggling!

I am so glad Mel apologized to Gus. The way Melanie hated Brian in the series always made me wonder how she would treat Gus as he grew older, especially after she had ‘her' daughter. It was obvious that Gus would look more like Brian as he grew (lucky kid!) and that could possibly cause her to react to Gus in the same way she always reacted to Brian. Glad to see she's at least capable of admitting she was wrong.
Lindsay on the other hand was such a spoiled princess. She was supposed to be seen as the peacekeeper but honestly I think she only did that when it was to her benefit.
Love how you are keeping everyone in character.
