Glad to read that Justin's mother wasn't aware of what happened to him, but she still is responsible for letting Craig be abusive. I guess it's easy to say when we are not in the same situation.

How will Justin react to that? Will Brian tell him before their night or not?

Also very glad to read that Daphne is still in the same town.

The family banter is always a joy.
Justin is getting comfortable with the gang and with Brian's morning delight.
Some promising change in his behaviour.
And, it's MONDAY!!!! Yeah!!!

Gus is really a good person and I love the dynamic they have with Justin.

Finally, Justin thinks that his father was the trash. It's a big step for his cure.

I want a donut like Emmett's! Sounds too cool and good as well.

Good cliffhanger; not that we need one to want to read the next chapter though...

It's nice to see that Justin is having some "kid" fun with Gus; it won't give him back his childhood, but it will help a little to see a simple and loving "father/son" relationship.

Author's Response:

You'll have to come visit me in Portland, Oregon if you want to try Em's donut! TAG

It's "funny" how Justin is so out of what happens in the real world; he missed so much by being kept inside by his father and then by being just in the streets.

He has so much to learn but also so much to give (talent, kindness).

His interaction with Gus is really a good thing for his "development".

Hard beginning but the end!!! (hard as well but for soooooooo different reason; self fan...)

The keys were a very thoughtful idea: it shows Justin that Brian trusts him with the loft and also that the doors might be closed, but he can get out.

I'm afraid of what Craig might have said or done to Justin to make him black out at Joan's threats to Brian.

Brian might act a little domesticated, but it can't last forever. He still needs to be careful when Justin is present though.

What a sick person this Craig!

At least, we now know why Justin felt empty and that working with Brian might fill the whole his father put some time ago.

On the light part, Justin seems to react to Brian shower game. There's hope...

And the  I thought the "sexual" abuse was worse than what Brian had from his father; but the food abuse is worse (for me); how can a father act like this; it's one of the basic functions a parent signs for when he has a child.

As for the lynch mob, I would vote for public punishment: demand him to whack off in front of somebody he cares for or in the backroom of Babylon.

Author's Response:

That's exactly how I felt when I was researching and writing this - the emotional abuse caused by controlling a person's basic needs was very scary. Glad that comes through in my writing. I'm all for that lynch mob, though. TAG

I really don't know what to say after reading this difficult chapter.

I still hope that monsters like this don't exist, but I guess I'm all wrong. I also hope that Justin will be able to talk about that, otherwise, he will be trapped forever in his nightmares. Brian wants to help, but he might get hurt in the process. Tough choice.

I'm glad Justin is okay. I hope they get their revenge on Craig.

Better be faceless than faithless in this fandom. As I'm not a therapist, I'm not offended at all and I deeply believe in B&J!

I like the fact that they will talk at a specific time. So, no surprises and no escape. Justin also knows that he could stay at least a week.

Tough situation, but at least, Justin decided to stay.

He could be a real asset to Kinnetic and could be a real partner to Brian, once the past is known and understood.

I really don't know what to think of Jennifer. I'm afraid she still has some kind if connection to Craig.

I hope that Mickey didn't say anything that might have pushed Justin over the cliff. Sure, Brian's tricking and Deb's remarks might have been sufficient, but maybe not.

Finally Brian is talking about his feelings.

Author's Response:

A little bit. He's still having a hard time being open with Justin. Thanks to Daphne, though, he finally has a reason to talk. Glad to see you're enjoying the story still. TAG

I think we are getting close to what kind of abusive father Craig is and I guess he's / was so much worse than Jack.

It's awful what people can do in the name of religious beliefs towards anybody, but when it's in the family's core, it's worse because of the trust that is repeatedly destroyed, until there is no more.

Gus is the vector that could go through Justin, because he's a kid and doesn't mean to do wrong on purpose.

The whole situation is difficult for Brian because he wants to help and doesn't know how to do it. The fact that Justin doesn't seem attracted to him must also be hard (no pun intended for once, my mind is not at all focused on that in this story) on him; he really isn't used to that.

I don't think the characters are OOC or too OOC; Brian has shown in the series that he can restrain himself (beginning of S2) and be there for Justin. In your story, he feels that Justin needs to be rescued and not only from the cold and malnutrition. He knows Justin is troubled (nightmares, empty look, fear ...).

Trying to get Justin react to ad job is genius: it should allow him to express himself a little and to be at ease.

It might be the only way to make him feel worthy.

Author's Response:

Exactly Brian's theory too! TAG

Gus and Justin are just great together. As for Emmett and Ted, they can be as damaging as Mikey.
