I'M still trying to catchup to all the stories I missed when I wasn't able to access the site. Anyway, saw today you had finished this, and read it right away. I was happy to see it completed, and got to read all about the horrific Mr Hobbs, his actions and the results for those actions. Yes, I truly believe he will have no parents, relatives or friends let when he does get out of prison.  It would be great to see a one-shot in this universe showing a fateful day in Hobbs' world inside prison. I have a feeling the gay men inside those walls will not be too kind or gentle to our resident gay basher, and the attempted murder on two gay men.

I was a little disappointed that Michael seemed to escape getting any backlash from Brian, either regarding the sketches or the way he had treated Justin. (Here's my anti-Michael coming into play.)  Earlier in a response to a review I left regading the sketches, you had stated: I can promise you that we haven't heard the last about that.  It will come up again in the future. Only it never did.

You had also mentioned that there would be no Ben: This story won't bring Ben into the picture, so it will simply stand that Michael decides to stay in Pittsburgh.  Only he was brought in. So somewhere between leaving responses to my reviews, you changed your mind. But, that is YOUR perogative. It's your story, and maybe those directions didn't work.

All that said, I LOVED the story. I wish there were more out there with this scenario, as it's a great synopsis.

Thank you for writing and sharing this wonderful story with us.

Cathy

Author's Response:

I was so excited this morning to wake and find your comments on my story, Cathy.  I have missed you greatly.  Your comments are always so thought-provoking and interesting.  Let me first thank you for catching up and reading my finished story.  There was a time when real life was kicking my butt so hard that I wasn't so sure I'd ever complete it, but thankfully things improved and I did.  I am so glad that you enjoyed reading it.

Now on to specific comments.  One of the things I love most about writing my stories is making Hobbs pay for his crimes.  I loved that final scene with him cowering before Justin in the show, but I always wanted him to suffer far more than that one embarrassing moment of fear.  Glad you approved of his ending in this story.

I'm sorry about Michael, but that's my NOT anti-Michael feelings coming into play.  LOL!  I know I am a rare creature who seldom felt badly about Michael or even Lindsay.  (I say seldom, not never.)  I felt the same way about them that Brian did.  He might get mad at them, but he also loved them, so I can't find it in my heart to hate them.  Folks also often forget the many good things they did for both Brian and Justin.    As for the sketches coming up again, they did in Chapter 19, three chapters later.  At least that was what I was referring to when I wrote that response for you.  I'm sorry if you feel I misled you on that.

As for my Ben response, you are right about that.  There were often long gaps between chapters and I did change my mind about not including Ben.  I wanted to give Michael a reason to forget all about Dr. Dave, a character that I truly did hate.  It also gave me the chance to distract Michael from being involved as much with Brian and his recovery, leaving the door wide open for Justin to be front and center as Brian learns more of the past year.

And now, let me thank you one last time for always being such a great supporter of this story.  It was one that I enjoyed writing very much.  Huge warm hugs, Grammy

Wonderful ending to a wonderful story.  Fantastic writing.  Thank you a happy ending and for finishing it.  So many writers have just left their work unfinished because of RL or health issues.  Hope all is well with you and that you are thinking of something new to write.  10+

Author's Response:

Thank you so much for all the wonderful support you have given this story throughout the lengthy time it has taken to finish it, Mamab.  It means a lot to me, especially that you have enjoyed it.  The one thing you can always count on me for is a happy ending.  LOL!  I do have just 2 more stories that I had to abandon some time back, and I hope to finish those too someday.

As for the near future, I do have another short story already in the works.  It's called 'The Great New York City Misadventure'.  I hope to have it completed and posted very shortly.  I hope you will join me then too.  Then, after that, I am thinking of writing a sequel to 'The Letters' which I am calling 'Finding Ginny'.  So many stories are still running through my mind even after all these years.  Warmest hugs, Grammy
