Excellant chapter.  Love how Brian is willing to give Joan a chance and helping her as well.  And how wonderful that she realizes that Justin is the reason Brian is giving her that chance.

Okay so.... this made my heart melt! Joan is trying AND succeeding! As a sister to two addicts- one in recovery and the other still struggling- this gives me hope that they can get clean and stay clear! This is only the second story or series I've read where Joan is redeemable and relatable. Well done!

As for Claire or should we call her this story's Mikey Jr., she really needs to have every particle of her ass whipped! Whether Joan is clean or not, John and Peter are HER responsibility. There are loads and tons of services willing to help her or provide afterschool activities for her sons. Using work is NOT an excuse to be neglectful and throw a pity party. She's basically stunting their growth in her attempt to guilt Brian or Joan into helping her. "BE A DAMN WOMAN!! Put your Big Girl Panties ON and stop being lazy!" is what Brian really needed to tell her. Millions of single women have this struggle so Claire is NOT special. They manage and don't find or lean on any excuse from themselves not to try. Okay, climbing off of my soapbox now, LOL That bitch just makes me so damn sick!

Looking forward to MORE!

Happy Writing and HUGS,

~Nichelle

Wow. Joan is making major strides! Nice to see that Brian is ready to accept her attempts at reconciliation as well. He'll take step to accept her, but is also necessarily hesitant. Above all else, he'll look after his family first. He'll protect them no matter what.

what awonderful story!!

Cheers

Elaine

Whoa!!! What a change! I always thought father Tom will get her to admit some of her faults, but I never imagine she would go this far. That was a beautiful letter.

Nathan and the copy machine: that's excellent!

I do hope that Joan is sincere.  I would hate to see the kids and Brian be disappointed.

I do love a "Redeemed Joanie" story, mainly because they are so rare. I cannot say enough, how much I love Nathan. He is the cutest kid in the world.

I understand how Emmett feels but they are all right.  He knows why he is marrying Alex and it shouldn't be anyone elses business.

I'm glad our favorite couple got to have some alone time.  Poor Grant and Dan, I guess kids are not in the cards for them right away. lol

Deb is finally taking some time off (from her son). I would love to see some pictures of Brian and Mel at the camp; that would be SO interesting and funny!

Nathan is adorable: the way he explained why he was eating with his dog!

You managed to talk Emmett into marrying without a prenup.  Now we just need for Grant to tell Dan how much he's worth.  Grant is thrilled that Daphne is going to have a baby!  Now we have Joanie showing up.  What on earth is that about?

Hysterical! The fake couple was the funniest!! I agree that camping should involve electricity and being inside, preferably a five star hotel. Ok, these kids are skating the line on being special to being "special" . I don't advocate kiddie leashes but, Justin might consider it, lol.

Be safe, we'll miss you...

the camping trip...Funny as hell!!!!!! I'm imagining it in my head and the visuals were just hilarious! Had to laugh when Gus even went along with it.

I had a flashback reading the part about Nathan eating the dog food. I remember munching on one of our dog's milk bone biscuits when I was a wee one. I think all kids try it at some point.

That family are going to have their hands full with Nathan and I get the feeling that Penny is going to be a little instigator too.

Cheers,

Elaine

Well I can't say that kids aren't curious.  I'm sure most kids have tired dog food at some point. lol

Poor Brian.  Everyone wants him.  I was laughing so hard at Brian and Mel pretending to be a couple.  The nicknames were just too much.

That was so fun. Kids just love pet food, at least it wasn't the canned kind.

Nathan has an excuse for everything.  Emmett's getting married!  Brian and Mel on a camping trip together?  Oy Vay.

Gus has a point. Speaking of which, that's a timeout moment. She could have poked his eye out! Nope no coloring for the little barber.

Penny, Penny, Penny.  She is going to use Nathan as her little play thing.  Cutting his hair, dressing him up...oh, dear.  It brings back memories of my childhood. lol

I love that Brian/Justin/Gus still do things just the three of them.  That's important.  I know they always want him to feel included.

Craig is an ass.  When will he ever learn.  He lost his chance to be a father.

Can't wait for the next chapter. :)

Hugs,
Jessica

Lawd Penny.... that is ALL!! LMAO!  As for Craig, he really needs to give up and go find his own life. He's an opportunistic jackass that wouldn't know the true meaning of family if it broke his nose. Now there's an idea that has a lot of merit! He wants to know his grandchildren... man sit yo' ass down! No one with half a brain would want to know Craig 'Delusional Deadbeat Asshole' Taylor unless it's by reading the comic titled 'Boo-Boo the Fool' or the obituary in the Sunday paper.

Justin handled him with style and grace though. I also liked the way he spoke to Gus about Craig, tying it into a life lesson for the budding young man. He didn't try to hide it or sugarcoat it, just gave it to him like it is. If Justin has anything to thank Craig for, it was showing him what NOT to do when he had his own children.

Excellent!! Those kids are so funny! Brian in the outdoors under the stars! That would be interesting to witness. Maybe he would do it for Gus.

I kinda get Deb, or am at least somewhat empathetic, but there definitel ycomes a time when you just have to cut ties to a degree. she doesn't really see that he's just manipulating her. Pouring on the guilt trip to get her to give him what he wants. thankfully the boys are making her see things as they really are. I hope Carl hangs tight. I also hope she really does sell the house, adn using it to pay off her own mortgage. I don't see Michael going into that program that Carl was talking about. See what happens when he finally gets out should be interesting. Nobody in teh gang is going to put up with any of his shit. wonder how long it takes for him to go back in? lol

Nathan...what a little cutey patootie! what a little minx! I can absolutely see how Mel and brian are the softies. dosnt' surprise me at all. Oh what a fun ride parentling is going to be.

Cheers,

Elaine
