I have to say the last thing I expected to see a little after 3 a.m. when I was thinking of heading to bed, was an update on this story. I was happy it was a longer chapter, too. So, thank you for this.
You brought up something I always wondered about during the Ethan arc. How did Ethan survive? I really can't see a person able to make enough money playing on a street corner to pay for housing and food. The bus to and from school, etc... Did he have a full scholarship? How did he pay for PIFA? (I know... none of this matters) ... Just Curious. Maybe we weren't suppose to disect the show that much. All that said...
I think you explained the whole Ethan arc perfectly. It sure fit with where Justin's character was at at that point and time. But it did prove to be a time of growth for Justin. Helped to take the rose-colored glasses off.
When Brian questioned Justin towards the end about what he was afraid of, I have no idea where you plan to take that... but I could hear clear as day, Justin saying... This... Losing This.

LOL! SURPRISE!!!! This story has seriously had me in its grip these last few days. It hasn't let me go as of yet, but I have to get back to JT2U, which is having quite the tug-of-war tantrum inside my mind right now.
I'm so HAPPY that you are so invested in my work. This was always an arc that, to me, needed to be analyzed completely to be understood. It almost seemed so out of left field, even though there were warning signs along the way that they were about to implode. There's more that happened during that era which needs to be addressed, but Brian really needed to be able to see what it was he missed about Ethan's advent. It wasn't even that he was intentionally unvigilant regarding Justin's needs; just trying to juggle life as it was then without losing his sanity in the process. It's sort of the kind of situation I'm in right now regarding my oldest son, so even though it's in a different context, I know exactly how he's feeling during these moments of analysis, clarity and forced introspection.
It's wonderful to know that you continue to remain enthralled with this particularly engrossing work!

I saw they each should threaten to sue Michael for every cent they ever have him over the years and for the years of stalking and harassment he did to Brian and Deb can be used too because she acc money by celebrating them and lying about why it was needed.
Wonder if Deb has a secret account with the money Brian, Emmett and Ted gave her that she didn't give to Michael?
Brian's letter was very heartfelt and full of the honesty he was afraid to admit even though it needed to be said.
Now that both if them are in agreement that they want each other they need to talk and deal with the morons later.

Brian's letter is amazing! It must have been awful to write; first, Brian doesn't love sharing his feelings, but writing them! And then, the topics are pretty difficult.
Michael's letter is disturbing while Ethan's is not worrying. It's good that Alex was available for reading those.

LOL! The chapter was already being written but it took awhile because I was cooking dinner while writing. But I did put a note in the A-N for last chapter that the format would change a smidge leading into this section. After I finally get out of bed, and can sit up without my back feeling like it's going to break in half. I'll have to see where I'm going next today...LOL
Anyway, Alex's comment actually makes a lot of sense when you read the letters together, and get the reasoning behind their latest homework assignment. Brian and Justin's noncommunication, especially during that time, represents the clutter. It's where their path together started to both tangle and unravel all at the same time. I often refer to the Ethan episodes as a mesmerizing tragedy, and compare it to those that happen in RL. At first, you're in shock, then you're pleading in disbelief for it not to be real, even as you watch the events leading up to the main incident unfold. And finally when they've crashed and burned so to speak, you realize that there wasn't anything you could do to stop it from happening. So yeah, clearing the clutter surrounding all of the events, that separated Brian and Justin to begin with, is the only way they are going to see their way going forward.
The important thing is that they've agreed on what they needed and ultimately want. Now what?

Great update. So happy to see updates so often - Yeah. I lvoed reading Jsutin's letter and would love to know what is in Brian's. I think Justin is finally seeing what he has been doing to their relationship and he is ready to work on saving his marriage. so happy to see this new development.

Yes Justin and Brian have been running for a long time and on this island it is time to face everything and then begin a nd chapter that they write without the specters of Michael and Deb interfering to change the narrative to fit what they want.
Justin's letter to Brian is moving because it is facing the hard truths they have been avoiding to remain locked in the void of pain instead of embracing the love that truly kept them together despite a few hard bumps.
Perhaps writing letters is a Good way to open the dialogue by being in the same room and writing out their feelings will help to make the conversation flow easier when it's time to yell, scream, shout and then talk rationally.
I can't to find out what Brian wrote to Justin and how they deal with Michael's attempt at sabotage again?

Thank you so MUCH!! I'm really glad that you like it! I've been trying my hand at banner making for awhile. I'm not as good at it as Marny, and can never hope to be. But I'm growing! The center pic is of Judge Melanie Marcus; a very necessary change from the 'Mel' she was with Lindsay. Also, if you look in the bottom left corner, you will see who I envision as Diane in the picture with Blake. I was going to add the Docs in, but couldn't find a pic of Alex.

Michael just has this inherent knack for ruining everyone's lives doesn't he. Carl probably thought when he met and married Deb he'd have someone to grow older with. I feel bad for gin but he'll be better off.
Diane has to try and find out what Tino's up to and get a warning to Blake. Dr. Crystal should have OD'd a long time ago. The one thing Ted has going for him is the backing of his friends. Even with Brian's past it's going to be hard for anyone toto get him and Ted using again.
