Did something happen during Brian's childhood that was so terrifying that I don't want to know?  I can honestly say I don't remember reading this chapter.  Lasseigne, for some reason I think he'll prove important in this story.  Ethan and petty, they go so well together.  Looks like Emmett now knows that McClaren is FBI.  Looks like Cynthia has two men who are looking at her.  So someone's tried to torch the loft?
