When did you start writing fanfic? What motivated you to start writing?
I wrote my first story, it was really just a paragraph, in 2010 after watching episode 202. I thought the fact that Brian and Daphne worked together to help Justin remember the prom needed a bit more attention than the writers of the show gave it. Then I found InsaneJournal and the amazingly talented fangirls there who encouraged me to continue writing.
Have you written for other fandoms? If so, which ones?
No. QaF is my first and only fandom.
What do you do when you are not writing or reading fics?
Spend as much time as possible with my family and friends.
What is your favorite QAF fanfic story?
I keep coming back to “Whore In A Hoody” by Vamphile. The way she wrote it as a series of drabbles is pretty awesome.
What is your favorite story that you have written?
Creating A Family and a drabble called My Other Child. I’m also quite fond of my Toy Room series and the Cocktales.
Do you remember the first QAF fanfic that you read?
Yes! It was “Words” by Triciaqaf.
Who is your favorite character to write about? Who is your least favorite character to write about?
Brian has always been easy for me to write but I prefer writing Brian and Justin together. My least favorite character to write is Ben but only because his voice doesn’t come natural to me.
Who are some of your favorite authors?
Triciaqaf, Flashfly, Rromantic, Vamphile, Myrna, Rhiannonhero and Bigboobedcanuck.
What is your favorite genre to write?
Canon, Humor and PWP.
Do reviews motivate you? If not, what is your prime motivation to write?
Reviews motivate me like nothing else! I can’t even explain how happy I get everytime I see a new comment pop up in my inbox. I’d still write even without them but it wouldn’t be nearly as much fun.
Is there anything about your writing you don’t like or wish you could do better?
I’d love to be able to write really long stories but I always end up getting bored after 10-15 chapters.
I just can’t write angst. I’ve tried so many times but failed.
Any advice to other writers or newer writers out there?
First and most importantly, write because it’s fun! Write gap-fillers, angst, porn, space fics or whatever gets you there. Even when you think no one but you will be interested. I promise you’ll find people who love Alien Ted or Merman Justin just as much as you do.
If you’re not a native speaker it can be difficult to write in a foreign language. Don’t let it stop you, though. You will make mistakes but you will also learn to laugh at them and move on. If possible, find yourself a beta who knows the show and is truly interested in your writing, the English language and grammar.
Don’t stop writing because you don’t get many comments! Focus on the statistics and you’ll see that lots of people read your stories even if they don’t always leave a comment.
If you want to keep your stories IC, don’t let your own feelings about the characters show in your writing.
What's your writing process? i.e. Do you outline an entire series before starting, or just start writing and see where it takes you?
I always know the first and the last line when I get started on a new story. I can “see” the whole plot between those lines in my head before I start I scribble down thoughts, lines and ideas in a notebook. When I’m ready I open up a new project in Scrivener and write everything down. If I get stuck I take out my notebook again and work through the story by hand before returning to my laptop. For some reason it’s usually the second to last chapter that drives me insane.
What new stories or projects do you have in the works?
I have more WIP’s than I like to think about. Right now I’m trying to finish up an AU with the working title “Paths”. I’m also very slowly posting my older works to AO3 and Kinnetik Dreams.
