"Feeling old again?"

"Hmm?"

"Are you feeling old again?"

"What makes you ask, Sunshine?"

"You're sitting in the dark, smoking, which you haven't done in a long time, and you have a brandy in your hand."

"That obvious?"

"Only to me. What are you listening to?"

"Fleetwood Mac."

"Who? Never mind. Any of them still alive?"

"You know, you can be a real bitch sometimes."

"Yeah, I know. Wanna tell me about it?"

"Nothing to tell. The song came on about an hour ago; I felt like listening to the whole CD. That's all."

"That's not all and you know it. Brian, what's the real reason?"

"Sit with me."

"You just want my ass on your lap."

"Yup."

"Okay, now that I'm here, spill, Kinney."

"How about I spill in your ass."

"How about you quit stalling and tell what's up, besides your dick."

"It's nothing, I swear. The song reminded me that a long time ago I nearly made the biggest mistake of my life. And I thank the gods for your stubbornness."

"My stubbornness?"

"Yes, my little Sunshine, your stubbornness. My trick that never left. My little leech that stuck with me like glue and saved me from myself. All my happiness I owe to you and I'm eternally grateful. Thank you."

"You're welcome. But I don't think I like being called a leech. Can't you come up with something better than that, oh great purveyor of words? I mean a leech sucks the blood out of you and leaves nothing behind."

"A barnacle?"

"Mmm, no."

"A remora then?"

"Aren't they the little fish that stick to sharks and keep them clean?"

"Yes."

"Then I'll be your remora. And you can be my big bad shark."

"I like being your big bad anything."

"Now that that's settled, can we turn on the lights?"

"Uh, uh. I like it dark, with you on my lap."

"Then how about we take the brandy and ourselves to our bedroom. I can sit on your lap or anywhere else you might like."

"I like the way you think."

"Still feeling old?"

"Nope, not with my Sunshine to keep me young."

"All in a day's work for a remora."
