Summary:

The new student in Pittsburgh’s North Hills High-School, Brian Kinney, finds himself labeled as an outcast. That is, until he meets the boy who accepts him... and helps him explore his growing sexuality. A defining relationship that begins to mold Brian into the man he would become. A precursor to the Requiem Series.

And it was not a coincidence that Lee was blond…and his first words to Brian were “How’s it going? But…you are the first person to notice this and tell me…after 20 years. - Haha, really! But that was so obviously... no, I don't know. I think Justin's just always somewhere in the back of my mind... no matter what I read... I think at the beginning I was more fascinated with Brian and I love them as a couple but over the years I fell more and more in love with Justin - Randy is too blame, I must admit, I'm totally in love with an american gay actor - life sucks! :-)

Author's Response:

Finally...we are posting a timeline of all my stories...backstory, gap fillers, hiatus fiction, stories related to specific episodes or scenes...so readers will have some help dealing with the "tapestry" I've woven.  If one reads the stories in order, things may make more sense...and Rewatching episodes would help, too.

Hi! Where is my first review? Did you delete it?

Author's Response: I’m sorry…I think I did. My reply appeared twice, so I tried to delete one of them, and, in the process, I deleted your original review. I’m new here, and I’m just learning how to access, reply, modify, and manage everything. It was unintended…and I hope you’ll continue to read and respond to my writing.

Oh okay, I was just wondering ... Oh no, that's surely no reason not to read any more stories. I mean, I have to admit, when it gets too strenuous for me, I write with google translater. I'm not an English native speaker and so it takes sometimes a lot of time to write a review. Nevermind

Author's Response: Phew, I was feeling terrible about this. Could you re-post your review? Do you remember what you wrote? I need all the reviews I can get!

I just thought about those scenes again and you are right. Even though there are lots of little turning points or critical moments, moments of disappointment, the scene with the roses after the hustler was the pivotal point.

Author's Response: Thanks for your review. Remember...I write from Brian's point-of-view most of the time. You may be right...there may have been lots of little turning-points...but, in Brian's mind, this was something he could have easily avoided (with roses) or remedied with discussion and apology. The end of my story is his retrospective view of the situation...probably after the break-up...how things happened from his point of view. And the roses are to blame. Although he says "No Regrets", he has a long list of them...just like we all do....things we should have done, but didn't...or things we did, but shouldn't have done.

Ah, it's okay, I think I don't try to re-write it. The only thing I want to say again, is, how hurtful and even disrespectful I find this scene with the hustler-gift which leads to the scene with the roses. I don't know if this exists, but maybe it would also be interesting to read about Justin's thoughts regarding this scene, this moment... How different would his face had brighten if it would have been something else... Sad scene...

Summary: This began as a treatise then evolved into a fiction. Along-the-way it lost the two sex-scenes I had included because they were a distraction. (I saved them for later.) It was a round-about way to get to a story without a lot of dialogue and without a pre-established plot. But for those who love Brian and Justin together, this fiction is meant to please.

Oh, so beautiful - ridiculous romantic ;-) - I love stories which state that Brian did recognize that Justin was different right away. "A pre-Raphaelite angel in the presence of God" -  "the continuing curiosity that looked into me instead of at me" - I love how you describe Brian's thoughts... "By the third time, I didn't know what to expect" - that must have been a first for Brian :-) Yeah, in some things, the pupil has taught the master a lesson! And I so love their short conversation. I really wish they would have talked a little bit more in the series. But sometimes it also wasn't necessary. Your story fits that scene so well, that short moment in S4 when Justin says "For me it was love" - just a short sentence and the way they look at each other. That said everything! Thanks for this story!

Author's Response: If you like dialogue between Brian and Justin, you might like what's coming later today or tomorrow. My latest story "Should Auld Acquaintance Be Forgot"...their reunion on New Year's Eve. I wrote it in two voices, Brian's and Justin's...taking turns describing the same event as the story unfolds. They both don't see/remember it the same way. The differences are subtle, but they're there. Also, the sex is as hot as it gets!

Summary: Author Note: From the beginning of my awareness that I could write fan-fiction, I have wanted to write this story. While QAF Episode 101 was ground-breaking in its depiction of male-male sex on cable-television, it was fairly mild compared to male-male porn that is readily available. So my story is a gap-filler in the true sense; in this case, the "gap" is Justin’s virgin ass. And it reminds me of Brian's motto: "There's no such thing as 'enough'."
For a full understanding of this story, readers should have read my "Requiem" series because this story relates to Brian's back-story.

Oh, I so love this. I always wanted to know how it came to the handstands and the juggling. :-) I love how you let them stay perfectly in character, how you just let the scene continue so naturally and perfect. Justin's "You're sure fit for someone...[your age]" haha and then the thing with the toothbrush... I remember watching the scene for the first time, not knowing what to think of Justin, of his innocent, his awkward manners... Watching it the second time I just found it cute. And your Justin is the same. It's as you wrote in "the look on his face": "I came to you with nothing but myself" -  and in a way, I think, that was what made Justin different... his innocent, his honesty, his openess, his curiosity, his eagerness to learn... I could imagine that many tricks try to impress Brian, but here we have Justin, plain and simple and open and beautiful. And I love this sentence, because I think you got that so perfectly right: "I had immediately wanted to protect him, a strange kind of protection". The beep of the alarm clock destroys this whole atmosphere even more than in the series, because your portrayal of that night is so much more intense. So this last part left me kind of sad, but yeah, that "rules were made to be broken" brought back a smile to my face. Amazing story! Thanks for sharing!

Author's Response: Wow! Once again you’ve written a stunning review. I have a hard time remembering what I was thinking and feeling 20 years ago when this was written. I think my “sensitivity index” must have been at 100%. I get emotional now, reading my own writing…and reading your reviews. Please say something bad about my work…to bring me back down to earth.

Summary: Author's Note: The title refers to the popular misconception (based upon a Biblical mistranslation) that Lucifer (Satan), “The Light-Giver”, was a favored angel who was cast out of Heaven. Brian fits the true meaning of the name... the gifted, successful prince brought-down through no fault of his own. Once again, Justin plays the role of "hero's sidekick" and supports Brian when he's down. Brian copes with adversity in his usual way... It’s not a sequel, although it seems to follow "The Look on His Face" as part of the post-Season 3 hiatus.

Oh what an idiot! I mean, the way he gushes about Brian ... How eager he got into the loft. He knew so many things about Brian and didn't know who Justin is??? But maybe that wasn't your intention. Was just a thought that I had. Fucking idiot. I like the way you let Brian handle him. It would have been even better if he had said "our bed", but good. What an fucking idiot. I think that's the hardest part of a non-monogamous relationship. Both main partners have to be sure about themselves, but also be able to trust the other 100%. And in that place, Brian and Justin seemed to be in the second half of S3. Unfortunately, the authors took that away from them in S5 - they could have made the best pair out of them ever. Oh, and I love the end of this story. This is something I find so fascinating about Brian and Justin - and that is also something which is shown in your stories - this unconditional caring about the other ... where one of them might be weak the other one is strong and viceversa. That's one of my reasons why they just belong together. Point.

Author's Response:

At first, I thought you were saying the author was an idiot. Ha, ha!

You do great reviews. I wish all readers were as analytical and aware…and willing to take the time to respond. I thought it was unavoidable that someone would step in and try to break-up the Dynamic Duo But testing a bond often makes it tougher and tighter. A friend said, after reading this: “Ya don’t know what ya got until you’re about to lose it.”

Summary: Christmas is a tough time for some people. The sweet sentimentality sometimes reminds them of what they don’t have… the love the holiday represents. The Rage Party had been just two weeks before Christmas, so the wounds had barely healed. Brian has many memories of past Christmases.

First of all briefly about your last answer. Thank's for saying this things about my reviews! Sometimes I feel rather uncomfortable that I write so much sometimes, but when a story speaks to me so much and triggers so many feelings and thoughts in me.... So, no, I can't say anything negative so far ;-) as I already told you, I won't read a few stories because it's just not for me, but that's not a negative thing.

This story: So beautiful what you say about love being rather a verb then a noun and the ability to love enough to let someone go, I totally agree. I just don't agree with Brian on the point that Justin confused thankfulness with love and that he wasn't ready to receive Brian's message already. I would rather agree with Brian that he failed to transmit the message. Justin wanted too much, Brian gave too little. For a short while they had this balance in S2, but then they moved in different directions. But I wrote this before, in my opinion Ethan had to happen. Oh, and like so often before - I love your end. Even if a story is so sad or depressing or whatever, there's always hope or a little bit of something positive at the end - love it! Thanks for sharing!

Author's Response:

Keep up the reviews!  So far, you're batting 1000 with your commentary.  And your analysis...spot-on.  Don't ever hesitate to comment.  I'm a big-boy...I can take a little criticism.  I would still challenge you to read stories that are outside of your boundaries.  It can't hurt; words are not bricks.  Ideas are neither right or wrong.  Creativity in any form can be enjoyable.  Stretch your boundaries.  ( I feel like I'm standing on a soapbox, shouting at you.). Just try it.  If it helps you to read one of my stories, I'll hold your hand...via Internet.

Summary:

Author Notes: Point of View Brian and Justin. What does one do on New Year’s Eve? Spend it with old friends, of course, remembering past, and perhaps better, times. The split with Justin is still a gaping wound for Brian, although he would never admit it. And Brian turns to his usual forms of forgetting auld acquaintance.
There is a brief reference to my Christmas-holiday story, "Let Nothing Ye Dismay" although this is not, technically, a sequel.

Hi again! Thanks for another great story... That was so hot and then so sad... But first of all, I've got a question... Brian was trying to forget the last two loves???? Justin and John??? I really like the way you wrote this time with their alternating thoughts. It's interesting also to learn something about Justin's thoughts. And it's great that you also let Justin stay total in character. And I have to admit: Slowly but surely John is getting on my nerves. He is such a hypocrite. And since I've read these two stories so quickly one after the other, I'll quote Brian briefly: "Being forced to say it is a sadness; it means the perception has not been felt." Or, in John's case, maybe to make yourself better, to feel bigger. Ah, I like him less and less. Back to your story. There were moments, I could have cried... "If I can't have what I want... his love and companionship, I'll want what I can have... [...] I'll be his trick".... ""I didn't want to leave you," [...]" "He finally had accepted the "Trick-leaves-in-the-morning" rule... just when I was ready to rescind it. I sank back onto the bed... hands stretched out to my sides... fists clenched... eyes tightly closed." Ah, that's so sad. And hey, what had I just written in my previous review .... Where is the hope here, the positive?

Author's Response: Brian was recovering from two past loves; Lee, his high school lover ("Prometheus Unbound") and John, his college professor (Requiem.) I think that readers who think that Justin is Brian's first love are mildly delusional. An almost 30-year-old gay man who has never loved someone else? That is totally fiction, at least in my experience.

Reviewer: aglaja5 Signed
Date: Dec 05, 2021 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Yeah, maybe I'm misinterpreted John. Maybe I also just see him from the point of view from straight people. I truely believe you when you explain that losts of gay men were forced into a heterosexual marriage by society, but there are lots of straight men and also women who don't end a marriage for different reasons but have a affair, a love beside... Maybe that's how I see John. So, sorry, but in my opinion somehow it's not fair what he did to Carolyn and to Brian. And in my opinion it's tragic thinking that Brian has not just his parents but in some way also John and his marriage as real bad examples. If we imagine that this is something he experienced in his youth, his development is no wonder.

Summary: Summary: A very short piece; a snippet of a story. It’s several weeks after the "break-up" and Brian is alone in the loft on a cold evening trying not to think of you-know-who. And then, as Fate would have it, a "ridiculously romantic message" from the past becomes a challenge for the future. Dare I say, “Ridiculously Romantic?”

Oh, now I have something negative to say... That was too short! :-) No, so beautiful and sad! "each dawn is the beginning of happiness in his arms." - "of making me look forward to the next day of loving" - I'm glad, that at some point in the series, they both remembered!

I've got another question. You wrote this stories 20 years ago. I was on your website. Your stories seems to stop at S3. Why did you stop writing? Do you consider to start writing again?

Author's Response: I don't remember if, or why, I stopped writing. I remember not liking the ending. I didn't like the whole Rage-thing and Justin's trip to California. I had created that whole website with lots of extraneous stuff about Brian...and no one was reading or reacting. Perhaps I thought I'd written my analysis of Brian Kinney, and that was all that mattered to me. I didn't want to be repetitive or boring? I just don't know. Good question! But,...Good Sleuthing by you!

That was hot, hot and hot :-) And I already said that before - I love how you let them talk, let them stay so in charakter. And I hopefully will never get tired of saying this ... They are so good together, they complement each other, are stronger together. I love it so much when one just gives the other a little hint and this then triggers a big wave. Would Brian have started turning against Stockwell without Justin? "Some asshole told me that if you believe in something strongly enough you have to be willing to sacrifice anything" - one of my favorite scenes of S3. The last sentence was beautiful, but also a little bit sad.

Author's Response:

Thanks for sharing another great story! That was hot and (as in the series) I love their happiness, their joyfullness! But is Justin crazy? How can he resist what Brian is offering him....? ;-) But maybe he's right that they should do it differently this time, not just falling back into old patterns.

Author's Response:

Your reviews are always appreciated.  Justin felt that he had to go spend some time with Daphne, his good friend and current roommate.  Brian's behavior indicated that he would welcome a reconnection.  Aaaahhh, these young people...thinking there's all the time in the future.  Brian's attitude is...live for the moment...but he went home alone.  Or, maybe not.

Summary: Summary: Gap-filler for the last scene of 309. Justin is flushed with excitement about the mock-up of the second issue of “Rage”… which, of course, leads to a hot sex scene. “Discipline over rage will take up arms; and the battle will be short.” [from “Italia mia” by Plutarch.]

Thanks! Great story and I agree... It's good to know how it may have come to this scene and your story makes totally sense. That Justin only came by to show Brian the new issue of Rage and that Brian had arranged this "11 o'clock trick-date" without knowing that Justin would come over. Nevertheless, I have to admit in the series this scene has made me a little bit sad when I watched it for the first time. Surely, Brian admits that Justin means more to him than every trick, but didn't we know that already. And I also understand that Brian wouldn't give up tricking just because they are back together again, I know that they are not monogamous, I know that Justin now understands what he means to Brian, but somehow... I don't know, it just made me sad. Maybe I just wished that he would have thrown the trick out immediately because he has something much better with him, something that he has missed so much and he is so happy about to have it back. Whatever....

Author's Response:

Perhaps it's a good thing that it made you sad.  Good writing (either screenplay of fanfic) is meant to have an emotional impact.  Sadness is just the flip-side of happiness...so we need a little sadness to make us grateful for happiness when it happens.  From my experience, life is a rollercoaster ride with plenty of ups and downs.  Without these peaks and valleys, life could be moderately boring.  As a writer, it makes me happy to hear that my story has caused any kind of emotional response, happy or sad.  It's just a story...just words on a screen...it's fiction, so your sadness should not last long.  Keep reading and responding...that will make me happy.

Thanks again for another great little story! You let them be so good together. But hey, that was S4? ;-) Is it a new one? "I let him back in because he cared so much" - Yeah, sure :-)  I think Brian didn't stood a chance, but you're also right, Brian also had to give in. Oh, I love how you picture Justin here. I think that's what I generally love about him. He can be so mature but then there is the other side, the more childish, but lovable, positive, joyfull one, but nevertheless caring. I think that's what Brian needs, one of the reasons they are so good together. "Can I see it? Can I feel it? Can I suck on it, [...] It's a shame you couldn't bring home the one they removed" So great, you put a big smile on my face, despite the terrible situation Brian is in. And I love the thing with the changed will - shows again how much Brian loves Justin. Thanks!

Author's Response:

Yes, Season 4,...and, Yes, it's a newly-written story...just to prove to myself that I can still do it.  I'll probably continue to write occasionally.  It would help if I could rewatch the shows again.  In response to another of your comments... Yes, I love writing B&J together;  Brian is narrator, with his ascerbic witty comments, and Justin is outright funny, especially with his teasing.  I try to write them with totally different speaking styles so the reader can instantly tell who"s speaking.  Alone, Brian can sound cynical... but with Justin, the conversation takes on a lighter tone.  I love this stuff!

Summary:

Brian reacts to Justin's departure from the Rage party in typical Brian fashion. A hedonistic, gluttonous visit to the Baths. It is clear that Brian foresaw the split-up and has his own clear evaluation of the situation...but that doesn't make the split-up any less raw or soul-crushing.

Hi Paul! I've seen that you published several others of your stories. So, this one. As always very well written and yeah, I agree, your story is true-to-character Brian. That's what he would do in his misery. I have to say, I love this scene in Babylon. Do I feel a little sorry for Brian? He wouldn't want that anyway. ;-) But I think it's great that you also showed that it can happen that way and that not every man falls immediately on their knees in front of him, either to suck him or to be fucked by him. Great. There are also men who would rather have something with Justin. As a big Justin-Fan I love that. The bath-scenes... I don't know. Is that still pain-management? But it is true to his character. I love Brian, really, and I love the picture of this onion which you once described, but in my opinion he really needs therapy.

Thanks for sharing this story! I'm looking forward to read some of the others. Some I won't read. As I told you in one of my reviews before, I'm just not interested in all these fucking between Brian and other men. You've complained that some readers have complained that some of your stories don't feature Justin. I'm not complaining. I can also imagine that Brian has been in love or been involved with one or more other men in his past - maybe not. There are so many posibilities how Brian's past has unfolded. And I loved both "Prometheus Unbound" and "Requiem". Very well written. Very realistic. I loved that you wrote it from the point of view of the present and always put in those little romantic moments regarding Justin somewhere. So don't get me wrong, I won't read for example  "Rumours" not because I find it kind of bad that Brian has sex with other men or that Justin doesn't appear in it. I won't read it, because I'm just not interested in Brian fucking lots of other men. But I think you are a very good writer and very talented. Warmest regards!

Oh, and I forgot to ask... Was that Justin on the answering machine? Maybe I'll find out by reading Justin's aftermath... ;-)

Summary:

Gap-filler for episode 301.  Brian responds to Justin's departure in his usual way...drugs, booze, Babylon, and the Baths.  In this story, he attempts to find a ‘trick' who resembles Justin.  But, during his depression, he continues to remember details of their relationship... and he misses Justin even more.

Oh wow! That was... perfect! Grand and intense! Hot, but in some way again ridiculous romantic and also tragic. Brian is so fucked! The comparison of both situations shows that very clearly. Sex with a trick could never replace Justin and Justin could never be a trick - and he wasn't even at their first night -  because in the end it's Brian who ends the game here. You show these two sides of Brian so perfectly here! And I was almost a bit disappointed that Brian ended "the game" early because if he kicked Justin out after that like he would have done with a trick, Justin would never have had a reason to be jealous of a trick ever again. Because who wants to be treated like that? By the way, you also made me laugh... "what animal would you be?" Haha! Really Justin? Ah, cute!

Author's Response:

Have I mentioned this before?  You write the most delightful and analytical reviews.  You're right about everything you say.  You recognized the comparison I had intended; trick vs Justin.  And you laughed at just the right moment in my story.  (I think I'd be a cheetah.  How about you?)

If I could be an animal, I would like to be Randy's cat Latrice. Otherwise I'm a sqirrel. ;-)

Summary:

Just like on the show, Brian and Justin had sex that first night Justin went to Liberty Avenue. After that, the story goes off-canon and Brian will find out that there is more to Justin than meets the eye. Justin isn't just a normal trick like all the others.

The story is finished and will be updated once a week.

Hi and thanks for another chapter! Oh, so the next trouble manfestiert in a visit from Queen Jennifer herself. Hm, I liked Jennifer in the series. After some initial trouble (let's not talk about the scene in S2 where she asks Brian to stay away from Justin and about not telling Justin the truth about Brian's every nightly visits at the hospital), she did turn out to be very positive. There's not much positive to say about S5, but I just love that scene where Jennifer is with Brian and he tells her that Justin turned down his first marriage proposal. Her reaction is just splendid. "Du hast was...?" .... "Er hat was...?" :-) Oh, I love that... Well, now I'm hoping for a miracle and that Queen Jennifer will let herself be wrapped around Brian's charm just like the Jennifer we know.... Looking forward to Sunday and warmest regards!

Author's Response:

Haha, I don't think this Jennifer is as caring as the real Jennifer was on the show, but we'll find out in a bit ;)

As always, thanks for your comment. More will be up in a few minutes!

Hi again! Thank you for another beautiful chapter! Even though I don't like Lindsay in general, I'm more of a harmony person and so I'm glad that Justin went to see Lindsay and thus accommodated her and gave her an opportunity to apologize. After this "12 months later" and the positive development you described, I had to briefly make sure that your story is not over yet.... ;-) Since it is not over yet, I suspect that the trouble will not be over either.... Warmest regards!

Author's Response:

Haha, no, the story is not over yet. There is still more to come for our boys. But they deserved some happiness before I send the next trouble their way :P

Let's see what they will have to face next.

More will be up tomorrow :) As always, thanks for your comment - it's much appreciated!

Hi! Thanks for another chapter. Oh, I didn't expect this twist - that Lindsay's parents would play a role here. What they did is really pathetic and if I would like Lindsay, I might feel sorry for her. Except, unfortunately, I don't like her.... So, looking forward to Sunday and warmest regards!

Author's Response:

I am glad that I am still able to surprise people even now ;)

This just seemed like something those horrible people would do to better their own positions... grr!

Lindsay was definitely naive here. I can't say that I feel sorry for her either though. I just don't like her enough.

Thanks for your comment. More will be up in a bit :)
