So, thank you for another chapter! It made me sad that Justin got so little attention and recognition for his art. But I think that's exactly how it would be if there was an openly gay royal. While I was reading the chapter, it was going through my head how different the real royals are acting right now. Well, I have no idea at all what is written and said there, because it really doesn't interest me at all, but I see these headlines in the "Spiegel" and other newspapers and I find it all just pathetic - here it's exactly the opposite than in your story... They want this attention! Pathetic... Well, I'm curious about you story and how it continues, because that can not be it yet, or.... So, warmest regards and looking forward to Sunday!

Yeah, what happened in Berlin was horrible...Some people...sometimes there are no words :(
It's funny because due to recent headlines, I couldn't help compare this story to the real royals either. Same when I was writing it. Back then M&H were all about wanting their privacy and moving away from England to get that and I was like: Yep, I understand that. Justin basically did the same in this story. But now...I call bullshit! Sorry, but if you want your privacy, you don't write a book like that or give interviews like the Oprah one almost non-stop.
Someone in another comment suggested that Brian and Justin should give an interview and I was like: No way! They want their privacy and MEAN it. They would never give an interview, even if it would help to clear up some headlines. They would rather do it in subtle ways like Brian and Daphne's lunch. A book or interview, though? Nope... If you want privacy, you have to be private. You can't wash your dirty laundry in public. That doesn't give you privacy...
I can promise the return of at least one part of the terrible two in the next chapter :P

Hi again! Are you still in Germany? Are you going to spend New Year's Eve here? It's crazy. Yesterday you could hear already so many fireworks being unleashed here in Berlin! I have the feeling that the fireworks ban of the last few years (and there was less here in Berlin) is now being made up for this year.
So, this chapter! It surely wasn't right that Justin didn't tell Brian about the investigations earlier, but I'm glad that such things can be discussed, at least after only a short time out and 2 glasses of Beam ;-) I'm glad that Justin has found such a good friend in Em. And I think I've written this twice now... It seems like the calm before the storm. Just now I have the feeling that a huge huge storm cloud is building up. I wish you a good start into the New Year!!!!

Happy New Year! No, I flew back to Dublin on the 28th. I am not a big fan of New Year's and all the trara surrounding it, so usually flee Germany before it lol. It's a lot calmer and more laidback here in Dublin. Only one big fireworks display in the city center, but not much private 'böllern' which I am totally fine with ;)
There will be a storm coming - the question is, what side will it be coming from? Poor guys deserve a break...
I will try to get the next chapter up soon. I had trouble accessing this site for days now and today at work is the first time I have been able to open it in more than a week. And now I don't have the doc with the full story with me as that is on my private laptop at home*sighs* Hopefully, the site will still work for me when I get back home tonight!

Wow! You've really already experienced / done a lot and I'm starting to believe that you really need a week's vacation first! I've got a week off now and I want to go to the cinema to see "Oskar's Dress", but other than that I'll just be relaxing for the most part.
This chapter: As always, well written! Lots of beautiful moments but also funny ones... "I think he likes it" - haha, the way you describe Gus reaction it is much more than liking. And this one "Is that French?" Hahaha! What should I say (He is and always will be an idiot). Oh, and Linds...really? If Brian kissed her in front of the children, she wouldn't say such bullshit.

Hi! Thanks for another chapter! Oh wow, I didn't expect that! However, I could well imagine that there really is a good explanation for this - and if Brian now closes himself off from Justin, Justin will be the one who suffers... because Brian has this habit of "thrashing around" and hurting with actions... Well, and okay, Brian has told Justin a lot of things that he hasn't told anyone else? So what? Is that why he's hurt that Justin didn't tell him this part of his life? I mean, at the same time Brian defines himself and Justin as fuckbuddies... So what does he want? Why does he feel betrayed? Of course I can understand that he's hurt because we all know that they are more than just fuckbuddies - :-) - but then Brian would have to admit this little fact to himself instead of running away from a conversation. Hi again! Arghhh Brian, really??? Splendid, it's so typically Brian. No, not a relationship, just fuckbuddies. Then why is he so hurt? And he's not only hurt, he's feeling bad, he's suffering, he's sad. Most people probably would call that "lovesickness". Haha, but not Brian. You know that I like Ted. So I love it, that he's the one who gets the truth out of Brian and who Brian opens up to. I was just a little bit disappointed that Ted didn't remind him after that revelation that maybe he's in love and maybe he should listen to what Justin has to say first. Hi again! Wow, now that was really surprising. At first I was a little sad that the two of them let one year pass without doing anything... And then: Prince Justinus from Europe!?!? Really!? Haha! He is really "more than meets the eye"! Now to some extent I feel a bit sorry for our Brian. On the other hand... That's just how it is when you only come together to fuck. What did he expect? No, seriously, I do hope that our Justinus has some good explanations for that... Well, not necessarily explanations as to why he didn't tell Brian, I actually understand that a bit, but rather why he got married? Did he have to for some reason? That was after he already had this "relationship" or whatever with Brian. And why a child? Well, I guess I'll have to wait until Sunday, because I hope it is Justin, who's standing in front of Brian's door... Exciting! Warmest regards!

I guess you've heard about what happened at the CSD in Münster. I am absolutely shocked and devastated. Münster is just around the corner from where I grew up, only half an hour away from where I went to university and I went out partying in Münster sooooo many times when I was a student. It's one of the most open, tolerant cities I have ever been to. I guess if something that horrible can happen in Münster, it can really happen anywhere :( Just heartbreaking! I hope the bastard who did this will be locked away for a long time, but most likely, he'll just get a slap on his wrist :(

Hi! I have to admit that I only caught the attack on Malte (that was his name) days later through a small newspaper article that said he didn't survive the attack. It's so unbelievable and terrible! I read that the murderer faces up to 15 years in prison for assault resulting in death. Hopefully he will! And a few days ago a trans woman was beaten up by teenagers in Bremen. I do wonder to what extent this is also a religious-cultural problem.... Of course, don't get me wrong, this can also happen to you if you meet the wrong group of Germans...
Now on to the lastest chapter which was great! Yes, sometimes the simplest explanations are the best or the most obvious, but did Justin really believed that Brian knew who he was and didn't say anything about it? And that for over 3 years? Hm, isn't he making it a little easy for himself or wasn't that a little naive of him? But anyway, I'm glad Brian didn't kick him out right away, listened to him and even gave him some advice. Oh and such a cute ending... That's cuddling isn't it?! Is that something you do with your fuckbuddy? Ah, those two! ;-) Looking forward to Sunday and warmest regards!

Hearing about these kind of attacks just makes me sad. For a while I thought we were really moving into the right direction, but now...I am not so sure anymore :(
I am glad that you liked the chapter! Maybe Justin is making it a bit easy for himself, but maybe it was also a nice change from his "normal" life to not have to worry/think about who he is for a while and to just tell himself that it doesn't matter who he is.
I think it's cuddling, but Brian Kinney doesn't cuddle, so I doubt he would agree. Hmmm...?

Hi again! I also thought we were moving in the right direction, and I think we were indeed going there for a while. Unfortunately, I believe that we have reached a turning point and are unfortunately now going in the wrong direction. At least it's wrong for me. The things regarding laws that happened in Hungary, Poland and USA for example... Who knows what will happen in Italy and also in Sweden. Unfortunately, it seems as if: "Die Welt ist im Wandel" (sorry, I don't know how it is said in the movie in english). I had to think of you while watching the new series "rings of power". I would imagine that if you're a real Tolkien fan, you don't like this series, do you?
So, now to your new chapter. I was thinking that it is amazing that Justin speaks (or writes in this case) so openly about his love for Brian.And Brian doesn't flinch at the words "love" and "relationship". :-) And yes, what a brave step of Justin to come out! The world is changed ;) Which kinda shows that the German translation isn't all too great as it implies present tense as in the world is changing while the English implies it is already changed, so more a past tense...
I am watching the show, but I am not a big fan, to be honest. And not because they cast dark skinned elves or dwarves. What a ridiculous discussion really. Why does everything have to be about race nowadays? I honestly couldn't care less about the skin colour of fantasy beings. But dwarf women without beards, elves with short hair? That's just wrong... Especially since the beards of the dwarf women were a talking point that Gimli brought up in the Lord of the Rings movies as well. It's painful to know that basic canon is being ignored. Also, I don't really think that all the actors are great... Sorry, but Galadriel will always be Cate Blanchett. Elrond will always be Hugo Weaving and replacing them both with mediocre actors? Every actor would be fighting an uphill battle taking on such iconic roles, but at least cast actors who have the talent if nothing else...
I love the sceneries, the world's and cities they have created. It just looks amazing, but to be fair, the storyline hasn't really gripped me yet. Hopefully, it will pick up in later episodes. Also, it makes me sad to think that this will be the last we'll see of New Zealand as Middle Earth. It's a real shame that they are moving production to the UK for the upcoming seasons :( New Zealand is and will always be my Middle Earth <3 *Lord of the Rings rant over*

We will hear about the consequences and reactions to his coming out soon. This story was actually inspired by a real life interview with Prince William in which he was asked a couple of years ago what he would do if it turned out that Prince George was gay. He said he would be totally fine with it and love and support him no matter what. Then it occured to me that there is no major royal (that we know of) that is openly gay. Which seems highly improbable if you ask me...

Hey! Yes, like I said, while watching the series I had to think of you and I already figured that the criticism would probably prevail. ;-) And I think I mentioned that before, I'm not that big of a fan, although I've read the books and also watched the movies "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit" a lot. But honestly, I wouldn't have noticed the thing about the beards on women or the short hair on elves! And I totally agree with you about the actors. So far nobody has really convinced me. But after struggling more through the first episode, I find it entertaining now. So I will continue watching it. But it really isn't comparable to the movies.
Oh, did Prince William really say that?! Well, hopefully he would also then behave like that, although I do think that we're also further along than we used to be regarding this topic. And I think if you do some proper research, you would find a lot. I only googled briefly and came across that the Prussian king Frederick the Great was probably gay, but of course he was also married to a woman. Interesting topic! Now this chapter. As always, beautifully written. Ted is a really genuine friend who isn't afraid to tell the truth and genuinely wants what's best for Brian. You know what I think about Michael and also about Lindsay, so... I'm curious to see how Brian will behave now. So, looking forward to the sequel on Sunday! Warmest regards!

I was actually travelling for a wedding this weekend and my friend who got married is someone who I met when I traveled to New Zealand and did my Lord of the Rings location tour. So a lot of the guests at the wedding were fans as well and we talked quite a bit about the show and funnily enough everyone I spoke to had the same complaints: The actors aren't good, they get small stuff wrong that would have been easy to get right (long hair for elves, beards for dwarf women, etc.), it's not really exciting and there isn't much happening, but most people at least love the scenery/worlds/cities that were created for this show. It was funny to have so many people coming from different countries and all pretty much seeing it the same way ;)
The thing is there are a lot of royals that were rumored to be gay, some more openly than others, but no royal that ever really openly came out as gay and had an official same sex partner, as far as I am aware.
I am glad that you liked the chapter :) I love Ted and have said before that I think he is a much better friend to Brian than Michael has ever been, so this story is also a bit of a love letter to Ted!

And I love that Brian is able to admit his feelings for Justin (at least to himself) and also that it was kind of a relationship. And of course that he then gets over himself and calls. By the way, I think I mentioned before that I am a fan of Matt Bomer, the actor. Anyway, he's currently filming a TV show in Toronto for Showtime (the channel that did Queer as Folk back in the day) with Jonathan Bailey in which they play gay lovers in a political drama set in Washington in the 1950's. It's based on a novel (Fellow Travelers), so I recently read the novel and boy, did that read like Queer as Folk in the 50's... The character that Matt Bomer will play is basically a version of Brian Kinney - good-looking, successful career, very charismatic, all the women and men fall for him and want to be with him, doesn't believe in love, only has hookups that mean nothing - you get the idea... Then arrives Jonathan Bailey's character, this young, hopeless romantic that arrives fresh from college and hooks up with him and hopelessly falls in love with him and in the end kind of wears him down into having a very hot and steamy relationship with lots of sex...Of course the younger one gets pushed off several cliffs by the older one, but always comes back. Sound familiar? I swear to God, when I was reading it, I had these flashbacks to certain moments in the Brian/Justin story, because it all felt very familiar. And knowing that they're filming it for Showtime we know it's gonna be steamy. First pictures from the set already looked very promising ;) Anyway, had to share that because it just felt kind of ironic that the characters reminded me so much of Brian and Justin and that my favourite actor will play a Brian Kinney-like role.

Hi again! Thanks for the series tip. It sounds really kind of familiar. ;-) A new reboot? Haha! But if I get a chance, I'll check it out. I would have also loved to watch the reboot of QAF too (although I just don't understand why they wouldn't have just made their own new thing out of it - especially with a new title), but first it could be just seen on Peacock and now you can watch it on amazon but just by paying more than what is normal for amazon prime. This is what I always find so exhausting about all these series: all these different providers.... Sky, Magenta, HBO, Showtime, Amazon Prime and so on.... And I still haven't watched season 4 of "The Handmaid's Tale" because I don't want to subscribe to Magenta.... Oh, I just discovered that it is finally available to watch on amazon prime. But actually, I'd have to watch the first three seasons again first...

Handmaid's Tale season 4 has been on German Amazon Prime for a while now, I watched it there months ago. If I had known that you were not aware, I would have told you before ;)
I have to admit that I had no real interest in the Queer as Folk reboot. If they had at least included some of the old characters to get a connection going, but without them? Nah, not my thing. I heard it has already been cancelled again, so I am going to give this season a miss and will wait for my Matt Bomer/Jonathan Bailey version of QAF instead lol
Brian and Justin both have good friends that look out for them and have their backs! Just as it should be :) And yes, once Brian can admit to himself that he's in love, he can be pretty persuasive. I am sure Justin has no idea what's coming for him lol

Hi! Oh, you already subscribed to many streaming services. I only have amazon prime. But I also don't have that much time to watch many series, so it's just not worth it for me to subscribe to other streaming services just because of one or two series that I would like to watch. And I'm also annoyed by this "and again wait a year or more for the next season". A few month ago, I devoured the three seasons of Babylon Berlin and now there's the 4th season, but in the meantime I'm already a bit out of that feeling I had while watching the series. And that brings me back to QAF - because so far really no book, no movie, no series, no love story has managed to captivate me like QAF and our two boys!
Therefore... Thanks for another chapter! Ah, I suffer with Brian, because at the moment their situation really doesn't look good. It really seems as if Justin doensn't believe in them having a chance to be happy together. It's not that often that it's Brian who has to fight for Justin. Haha, I know what you mean. I have all these streaming services, but then only watch an hour a week on them each lol. An hour on Friday on Amazon Prime for Rings of Power, an hour on Monday on Now TV (Sky) for House of Dragons, etc...My day would need 30 hours at least to have the proper time to enjoy them all. Add to that Audible and Spotify subscriptions and my day needs 48 hours really ;) Oh and I love reading and writing, so yeah, basically I am screwed.
Yeah, thanks to Netflix I have become such a binge watcher. It annoys me that services like Disney+ or Prime only release an episode a week and not the whole show in one go... I am not used anymore to wait a week for the show to continue and it annoys the hell out of me.
Yeah, poor Brian. He finally opened his heart, took a leap of faith and then this...poor guy! Let's hope that they can figure this out. Thank God, they both have good friends in their corners.

Hey! I finally started watching the 4th season of "The Handmaid's Tale" a few days ago and what can I say.... I can't stop and it's so nice not to have to wait a week for the next episode.... ;-) But... Two things... 1. Where are Brian and Justin? Haha During the first two episodes I constantly had this strong need to see them. And you're to blame (don't take me too seriously), because the last time I dealt with Gilead was while reading your story. 2. Well, I thought Elisabeth Moss was terrible in the first seasons, but for me it's getting nearly unbearable. These eternally long camera shots on her face, her slightly cross-eyed look, oh, her whole facial expression annoys me so unspeakably... If I didn't find the series so good in itself....
But now to your chapter. Wow! What an absolutely beautiful chapter. "It's for my prince" You give this whole scene a whole new meaning. And how fitting! Did the idea for this story come to you while watching this scene or did you have the idea for this story first and then thought this scene would fit in? And actually so much nicer that it's not about a stupid wedding, but first about a real relationship. Imo, that also would have been so much better for Brian and Justin in QAF, but whatever. Personally, I don't really mind Elizabeth Moss too much. I think her acting is pretty decent on the show, but yeah, I know what you mean about those shots. Some of those choices are...questionable ;)
I am glad that you liked the use of that line. It just seemed too perfect not to use ;) I had the idea for the story first and when I was writing it, I remembered Brian's line "for my prince" which I always found incredibly weird...He had never called Justin prince before and it was the only time and completely out of the blue and I wasn't a fan of that particular pet name, but in this case it fit perfectly, so I thought: Why not? ;)
This isn't the last chapter by far. There is still a lot more to come :)

Hi again! Yeah, I totally agree with what you said about using the petname prince out of the blue. But for me the whole scene was a little bit strange - even if it is such a beautiful scene which I wouldn't want to miss, I always thought it was too much, too much black or white, too much all or nothing.

Thanks for another great chapter. Oh, I love that scene in the show when Justin says "for me it was love" - it's great, that you included that scene here. And I always have a hard time with fanfics where Brian wants to sell the loft, too. I guess I'm too sentimental, even though, sure, there are also enough negative or painful loft-scenes in the series. Justin seems very insecure about meeting Gus. I loved that scene too because it showed so much of Brian's regret about their first hook up and how much he has grown and how Justin has always been too romantic for his own good ;)
Same here, I am way too sentimental as well when it comes to selling the loft. I get what Brian says about it just being a place but I also get what Justin says about it being the place where they first made love and all. It's a good thing that Brian is so smitten with Justin and will do whatever he wants lol
It's always hard coming in as a new 'step-parent'. In the show Justin was in Gus' life from day one and was always around but here...I can't blame him for being a bit insecure about that meeting. I am sure it will be fine though. Gus will love him just like his dad does. After all, what's not to love?
I was watching The Crown in recent days and watching how dysfunctional the British Royal family is (supposedly!), made me wonder what it would be like if one of them had turned out gay. Can you imagine?

Hi, I must admit that I haven't seen "The Crown" so far nor have I ever been very interested in royal families. When the Queen died this year, I found it all soooo over the top. Well, and then Diana... I don't know. They just don't interest me. So I can't really give you an answer, because I really don't know anything about them. But if I am to guess... I imagine it difficult and one can only hope that it is sometime "normal", that one even does not have to out oneself any more. I have thought about it those recent days because of the World Cup. There is not a single active German footballer who has come out! Thomas Hitzlsperger only came out when he ended his career. That's just as unbelievable as in royal families, isn't it? And why is it less of a problem with lesbian footballers? On the other hand... I have the impression that we are unfortunately moving in the wrong direction in many countries (we have both said this before), so unfortunately the situation for homosexual people seems to be getting more difficult again. That's really a shame. And although I really hope that Trump won't be the candidate for the Republicans in the end, I really fear that Ron de Santis would be even more dangerous...
So, now to your chapter. As always, wonderfully written. Oh yes, our Michael. What would fanfictions be without him... haha. What an absolutely outrageous but also Michael-appropriate behavior. I hope he won't be the one to cause problems for our two.... Looking forward to Sunday! Warmest regards!

I absolutely agree about de Santis being more dangerous. With Trump you always see and hear the crazy, so many people are put off by that. But de Santis manages to sound "normal" and "reasonable", so many people won't be as put off by him as they would be by Trump and that makes him dangerous because some of his views... my God, straight from the Middle Ages :(
The World Cup in Qatar just annoys the hell out of me and I have already decided long ago that I will boycott it. I will not watch any matches. I know that won't change anything but at least I will know that I didn't support a tournament that is outrageous and ridiculous on so many different levels.
Also our team isn't really in a form where I am inclined to believe that we will make it far anyway, so I doubt I will be missing much by not watching their games ;)
Exactly, what would a story be without Michael annoying the hell out of everyone? It would be boring lol
Let's hope that he will be the worst that Brian and Justin will have to face...

Hi! No, I don't watch the World Cup either. This whole armband discussion has given me the rest. I thought about not watching it before, but since Monday I'm not interested at all. And Germany will probably be eliminated on Sunday anyway. They should have just left before the first game with a friendly but definite fuck you. That would have been a statement! Too bad.

I had already decided not to watch the World Cup before but now feel confirmed that it was the right decision...It's a sad day when your values aren't even worth a yellow card...
And funnily enough I told my brother pretty much the same: We're going to go home after the first three games anyway, so this is really the best World Cup to risk being punished at lol
I have just returned from a week in Gran Canaria. I was visiting a friend who lives there. It was so nice: Sunny, warm (25-30 degrees) and being back in cold, dark, wet Dublin feels really depressing right now lol I need another vacation ;)
Michael will always be Michael. We can rely on that!
I love the Brian Gus relationship and wish the show had explored it some more, especially after the cancer storyline, but alas. It wasn't to be :(

Unfortunately, that time between the years will be very stressful for me as I am in Germany for the holidays (as always), so those days will be filled with meeting friends that I won't get to see the rest of the year. By the time I am back in Dublin, I am usually in need of another week off just to recover from all the meetings ;)

Anyone who was hoping for a mother son reunion should have known that it wouldn't happen... Not in this universe lol
Jennifer wanted to see Justin to show him that she's the one in control. She is the queen and she is not used to people saying no to her. She is a royal and people do as she pleases.
Of course Justin hadn't expected to be invited back and of course she never intended to ask him to come back, but she is still the queen and people do as she commands, so she wanted to exert that control over Justin as well, telling him to stop hanging out with people that would make her and the crown look back.
It's all about public appearance and perception in her world...

I am glad that you liked it. I wanted to show that Justin has found peace and happiness in his new life with his new family. His old life is just that... his past. It's not his present and his future and he's at peace with that.
