I love the supernatural twist to the Brian and Justin romance. Very different from other stories and it's well written and entertaining to read. - samcdee
Justin moves into a new loft apartment in preparation for starting his first term at PIFA. Upon arrival, he finds a “Welcome Letter” from his new landlord, Brian Kinney. But, when he goes to respond, odd things start to happen. Can these two men reach across time itself to realize their love? (Loosely based on the plot of Alejandro Aresti's The Lakehouse - one of my all-time favorite movies.)
Well, this was my first opportunity to read this story, and I finished it in 4 hours. I was hooked from the first chapter and had to see how it all played out.
I have seen "The Lakehouse" many times over the years, so from the very beginning, I was trying to figure it all out. And it finally hit me after Justin had a breakdown after the run-in with Hobbs and he was explaining what happened at prom to Brian. That was when the "ding ding ding" moment occurred for me and I had it all figured out.
This was definitely a great story - from start to finish!!
Thank you! I'm thrilled that someone who watched the movie can compare my story so favorably! Thanks for reading! TAG
Brian Kinney is a successful 33-year-old advertising executive from Pittsburgh, who is spending a week in Manhattan in hopes of landing the most important client of his career. Justin Taylor is a 21-year-old struggling artist living in Chelsea who hopes to make it big. What happens when the sexy ad man meets the beautiful blonde Picasso?
This was a great story and I'm looking forward to reading the sequel!!
Justin agreed to be Brian’s new art director for his soon-to-open New York advertising office. What about letting Brian be his Prince Charming?
**This story continues six months after “Sexy Boy” ended, which should be read first before beginning this one.**
Loved it!! I was so happy that Justin agreed to move in with Brian!!
Brian Kinney needs a last minute date to join him at a client’s wedding, so he grabs the first available guy he sees - a naive, sheltered, and unsophisticated blond boy that he saves from a mental hospital. A boy who’s got a very unusual past. This is the story of their adventure together. Oh, and Justin doesn’t like wearing shoes for some reason . . .
*Reader's Choice Award, Favorite Friendship: Brian/Justin and Justin/Animals*
I just found this story today and couldn't stop reading it!! It was great from start to finish!! I'm so looking forward to reading the next chapter in the story...
Thanks for reading! This Justin really is totally adorable, isn't he? TAG
Present day, post-episode 5.13. Justin has returned to Pittsburgh to build a life and future with Brian. When Daphne asks Justin for a favor, he agrees without realizing the effect it will later have on him, Brian, and their entire family’s lives.
I just found this story yesterday and just finished reading it. This was a great one from beginning to end!!
Thank you. We had a great time writing this one. This is just one of a series of stories. If you scroll down you can click on Bittersweet Universe and read the the other stories in the series. The other stories go into things that were mentioned in this story. Enjoy

Brian and Justin's relationship after the bashing.
Loved it!! I never understood Brian and Michael's friendship, and why he just kept putting up with Michael and the way he treated him. This was great because Brian really laid it all on the line and told him how things were going to be, whether Michael liked it or not!!!
I chose this story because it is not your typical Brian and Justin story. Also it deals with a subject that is very important to me. I lost a friend due to the lack of a donor -Lorie
Life has always been a constant struggle for eighteen year-old Justin Taylor, until one fateful day at the diner when he meets the man known as the Stud of Liberty Avenue, Brian Kinney. Both of their lives are changed forever in a way that neither of them ever anticipated.
This was a great story, with a great ending!! I thought it was very sweet of Michael, of all people, to go to Justin to plead Brian's case, but thankfully, he did!!
Justin Taylor is a former marine, discharged after three tours in Iraq. He’s struggling to find his feet in the civilian world he has returned to and decides to go in search of the unknown man whose photo he believes was his good luck charm during the war. His search takes him to Pittsburgh where he meets Brian Kinney, who’s busy dealing with his own demons. Together the two men might be able to heal each other. Inspired by the movie/book of the same name.
This was a great story!! I think the biggest surprise for me, was that Ben turned out to be Justin's friend, Aces. I didn't see that coming at all!!
3 years after Justin left to take the NY art world by storm, Brian and Justin encounter each other during a crisis with the one person, other than each other, that really rocks their world, their son Gus.
This was great!! I always hated when Michael decided Brian or Justin's fate, like it was his decision or he had any right to. And I'm glad that Brian kicked him out and ended their friendship. He certainly didn't deserve it!!
Justin has been back from New York for a week and in that time the "family" just wouldn't leave him and Brian alone to enjoy their reunion. There have been countless calls demanding Brian produce Sunshine, unannounced visits and several walk-ins performed by Michael, of course.
On one such evening, as Brian and Justin are in the middle of foreplay, Michael barges in and without regard to what he interrupted demands that they join him and the guys for a night out at Woody's. When Emmett suggests a "couple's pool game," Brian and Justin have to decide if the stakes are too high -- Freedom from Family vs. Learning to Share. Who will win the Tawdry Tournament?
Loved it!! Michael, not so much, but Brian and Justin totally. They are finally together and starting their life. Michael needs to finally get a clue that he is no longer Brian's best friend and get a life of his own and leave Brian and Justin alone. I have a feeling he is in for a very rude awakening!!
It's time for Gus' prom... how will Brian and Justin deal with the memories or lack thereof....
Good story!! I'm glad that Justin was able to remember some happy times from his prom, to override the bad ones.
I am a sucker for "Brian in Peril" stories and this is one of the best I've read. The author does a great job dissecting Brian's complex mind. Phenomenal writing, interesting premise, and a satisfying ending. Can't ask for much more! -charming1
After Justin leaves for New York, the remaining members of the Liberty Avenue family go about their everyday lives, never suspecting that something serious is happening to Brian. When the realization hits, they find that everyone's lives are irrevocably altered.
All I can say is Wow!! This was amazing from start to finish. I can read this story (and after watching the show) and see how all of this really could have happened with Brian, and why he is the way he is. And Justin; I had no doubts that he would stick with Brian and be there for him, no matter what!!
After Justin's departure to Hollywood, Brian has a surprise - a life-altering surprise. All story is from Brian's perspective, watching him cope with the new challenge. This story in mpreg, so if it's not your cup of tea, please approach with caution. :)
I loved it!!! I had started reading this along time ago, but stopped. I started it over again the other day and just finished!! What a great ending to a great story!!!
I chose this particular story because of the amount of detail and depth involved. The original characters that are introduced add intrigue and charm to an already compelling tale - Jazzepoet
Brian and Justin meet in New York city, in 2005. Brian is an ad exec and Justin is an intern for Brian's company.
This was a great story and I'm glad that Brian and Justin finally got everything out in the open and talked about their relationship. I'm looking forward to reading the sequel...
Sequel to In His Kiss.
***Reader's Choice Favorite Original Character - Jessica Hammon***
I just finished reading this part of the story and am hoping you will still be writing the sequel? Both this and the first part of the saga were amazing. I loved it all and am so looking forward to the continuation.
SUMMARY: That damned Showtime channel and their time limits. Due to circumstances beyond their control (I'm sure), Cowlip et al were exceedingly surprised when the finale of QaF was cut short by a few minutes. It changed everything and, boy, were they pissed. But... what were a couple of rich, influential producers of a successful ground breaking hit show to do? Apparently, nothing. The milk had been spilled, the cart overturned, the bridge burned... But, here is how the ending was ACTUALLY filmed. (I swear, this is true. I heard it from a friend who has a cousin who works with this guy who dated a celluloid vault-keeper's sister...)
I would have loved to see an ending like this instead of the one we got. When I originally watched it, I thought it was a total let down. I was so wishing for a happily ever ending that just fizzled out at the last minute.
With a little help from their wonderful friends, Emmett and Drew build a life and family together.
This story is set in charming1 and Lorie’s “Bittersweet Universe” and is a prequel to Bittersweet Promise. However, this can be read as a stand-alone story.
This was a great story!! I loved it!!
Brian takes Justin to Hawaii for their honeymoon where some HUGE discoveries are made.
Well, as freaked out as Brian was over Justin as a merman, he sure was accepting over it pretty quick, which I'm glad. And I really do hope Jennifer was just joking about all talk about fish babies!! That would definitely not go over well!!
Lol! It was all the pheromones.... Glad you enjoyed this one! TAG
This was a great story, with a great ending!! I loved it
This was a great story from start to finish!! Mel, Lindsay and Michael all deserve each other. Thank goodness JR finally found a good home with Brad and Ben. I think that was the only thing that could have helped her.
(Brian & Justin do not 'meet' in this story. This is the story of why they didn't meet in 101.)
Brian suddenly becomes a father to Gus when Lindsay and Melanie die in a car accident. Because Brian was not there to meet him, Justin goes home, but later, in different circumstances he is bashed by Chris Hobbes. This is their story prior to their 'official' meeting which happens in the sequel.
This was a great story, and I'm so happy that Gus has made such great strides and he is actually surpassing the norms. I'm looking forward to starting the sequel to see how things continue....
Sequel to No More Mio Amore - about two years post NMMA.
I just finished this one, and I am hoping beyond hope that you continue with this story. I would love to see the actual B/J falling in love part of the series. I am so happy that Justin got all his memories back, but its obvious that there is more between Brian and Justin than just friendship...
Brian and Justin want to raise their family without help.
This was a great story!!! Wow, Lindsay sure took the stalking to the nth degree and definitely earned that 30-year sentence. I'm just glad that Brian, Justin and the kids made it out okay after all she put them through!!!
Justin is moving back to Pittsburgh with his son. This one is completely AU and MPreg.
This was a great story!! I loved it!!
How Michael's machinations finally left him all alone.
I just finished reading this story. It was a long time coming, but the payoff was great!! I loved everyone telling Michael off. He deserved everything he got and more!!
