Little by little, Brian will admit that it wasn't his fault, hopefully.
Great chapter, full of raw emotions.
Author's Response:
Hopefully one day he will put the blame where it belongs - Chris Hobbs.

I loved this chapter. I know Brian doesn't like to show his emotions but I feel that after being with Justin for so long he would know he was safe to do that without judgement. Thank you for showing that.
Author's Response:
That's the way I feel too. I think there, in their home, safe in their bed, it's a sanctuary and I can see it being easier to let down his guard.

I love your view of the Prom and why it occurred.
Author's Response:
Thanks! I so hate victim shaming and wanted Justin and Brian to realize that what happened was no one but Chris' fault; and it stemmed his fears and insecurities and he was a time bomb just waiting to go off with the right trigger. After all, it was a premeditated attack. it wasn't a crime of passion where a bat just happened to be there and Chris picked it and swung without thinking it through. He stalked Justin to his car - he deliberately picked up bat, followed him, waited until his back was turned and then swung. Someone like that was just waiting for a reason to do what had been brewing inside the whole time.

This gave me so many feels omg. This was not only beautiful, but hot, and equally emotional. I love the idea of Brian watching Justin sleep - and god, Justin remembering the dance and the look in Brian's eyes? ahhhh! PERFECT!
Author's Response:
I'm glad you liked it! I'll admit, I never planned on Justin remembering the dance at Prom. Even a flash of it. But then he goes and surprises me again. It was a nice surprise that had me feeling all gooey inside.

Brian in love is just so beautiful. As was this chapter. It is difficult to rid one's brain of bad things that happen, but you've shown Brian slowly accepting the past. Great job.
Author's Response:
Thanks! I love writing Brian's softer sides. I know he has a lot of masks, and he hides behind many walls. But I think at this point in his life, about thriteen-fourteen years after he and Justin have met, that Justin has been able to chip away at those walls. So Brian feels safe in sharing his heart. At least with Justin.
