Art is something Justin and Gus have in common.

Author's Response:

Yes, and it's something they have bonded over ever since Justin has been back. It's their thing :)

Just to let you know, I have been reading this again.  Well, more like skimming to ensure not too bad.  As you know you are one of my fave authors!

Also need to shout out to Hotesse, who works in labs testing for the current virus and still updates her story!

All you authors are, as Auntie Em would say, FABULOUS!!!  To keep us all going and to provide a distraction in this shitty world!!!

Author's Response:

Awwww, thank you :)

You are very welcome! We can all do with something nice during these difficult times and if a happy chapter is what is needed, it's what people will get :)

Great chapter.  Finally they got to hold Vicky.  Could just picture it thinking of the series and Brian holding Gus when he was born.  FANTASTIC writing.  Hope all is well with you during this virus situation.

Author's Response:

I am glad that you liked the chapter :) It was time for some good news and hopefully there will be more good news from now on :)

So far I am fine. I am in Ireland and the country is pretty much on lockdown. Schools, bars, restaurants, etc, everything is closed and only grocery stores, pharmacies and drug stores are still open. I've been working from home for more than a week now and mostly it's just very boring, but well... That's a small price to pay!

Stay safe and healthy!

Thank you for this beautiful chapter: this was long overdue for the longing and desperate fathers. I hope she will continue to improve so her brothers could finally meet her.

Author's Response:

Hopefully Justin is right and better times will be ahead now :)

Thanks for your comment and I am glad that you liked the chapter!

Tissue box time.  The pictures really made me remember the series.  Great chapter.  Wonderful writing.

Author's Response:

I am glad that you liked the chapter :)

It's actually one of my favourite chapters in this story! I just love the relationship between Justin and Gus and how they are able to talk about things Brian might not be comfortable with...

Beautiful chapter: first of all because Justin was able to discuss with Gus and it was really time that someone saw/heard how much in pain he was/is and then because Gus has been able to see that his father loved him from day 1, despite everything Gus must have heard from his mothers and from the gang. It's something that must have done a deep damage in the young boy.

Author's Response:

I am glad that you liked this chapter. It's actually one of my favourite chapters in this story :)

I just love the relationship between Justin and Gus, them bonding over their common interest in art and them being able to talk about things that Gus knows Brian might be uncomfortable with.

I also wanted to show the effects that everything going on has on the boys and how it makes them wonder about other things as well. Especially Gus, who at 14 is now a teenager, looking for answers.

Hi there! Oh, you‘re killing me here... They all can‘t seem to catch a break! So painful... I really suffered with Brian, asked myself why isn't Justin calling and got really nervous. And really, Justin? The battery died? I mean, there are other ways to call from a hospital than your own cell phone ... Hm, but that's just a small detail... And I totally agree with Brian... „They all deserved a break" Hopefully things are going better now! Warmest regards!

Author's Response:

Me? What, no? I wouldn't dare ;)

Well, Justin was woken up in the middle of the night and immediately rushed to the hospital. He didn't get enough sleep, was worried about his baby - clearly not thinking straight, poor guy! We shouldn't be too hard on him ;)

At least it looks like Vicky will be alright and I agree with you: They all deserve a break! Hopefully they will get it soon...

Whoa! They really have a very disturbed and emotional life! What a nightmare for both of them: such a roller-coaster! Poor baby: I hope she is not suffering too much and that there won't be lasting effect on her brain / health.

The only good news is that they should be able to finally hold her.

Yeah, right now their life is anything but boring... Hopefully the worst will be over soon!

Author's Response:

Yes, it seems like poor Brian really can't seem to catch a break :(

We can only hope that the bad news will be over soon and they can finally start moving forward as a family!

Hi there! Well, my son was sicker than we first thought. After a week of fever, he even had to take antibiotics, but he will go back to school next Monday!

Again, I‘m behind with my reviews... That was a real beautiful chapter. I really thought there would be a bigger discussion between them, but of course, on one hand Brian had time to think a little bit about everything and on the other hand, he isn‘t the old Brian anymore, he‘s matured and wiser. Beautiful, how you let them handle such things! Warmest regards!

Author's Response:

Oh God, poor boy. It's good to know that he's better now and things will go back to normal soon. I am glad to hear it :)

No, he isn't the old Brian anymore and being sick has also taught him the important lesson of not wasting what little energy he has. As you mentioned, he had time to think about Justin's reasons, he had time to think about his own behaviour and knowing how he has matured and changed over the years, he knew that a big fight would have been a waste of energy, especially since he played his own part in making Justin act the way he did.

They have both grown up and especially Brian has changed into a more reasonable, mature man. Good for him :)

Wonderful chapter you tackled the awful milestone of hair loss from chemo so sensitively. We know it would freak Brian out but you had Justin reassure him that his hair is not who Brian is to Justina Nd his children. Great chapter thank you

Author's Response:

Thank you!

Unfortunately, I had to see my grandmother go through that and I was with her the day the hair loss started and will never forget her reaction. She had been prepared for it, had been to wig fittings in the weeks before, but when it really happened, nothing could have prepared her for that :(

Okay yeah Gale did have a beanie. But I kinda thought Brian would say F it and go with the bald head. Loving this story.

Author's Response:

Well, to be fair, it had nothing to do with Gale and him wearing a beanie or not. I don't follow him at all, so wouldn't even have known that ;) It's just a fictional story based on fictional TV characters and I know that some people take inspiration from the actors' real life, but I don't know anything about their real lives, so that's not the case here. Anything that might seem like it is purely coincidental, I can promise ;)

Another great chapter! This is something I always wondered during the series: did they avoid this kind of situation? Isn't it normal to lose hair in such treatment?

It's obvious when we know how Brian cherishes his hair that it would be a tough situation to deal with, after the scar and the loss of weight. Justin reacted very well and the little humour "You really have a problem with not saying anything, don't you?" showing that Brian wasn't that angry/sad after Justin. Which shows that Brian really changed.

It's also a great idea to ask Emmett for help. This also shows that Brian is more open to his friends.

Author's Response:

Well, in the show Brian didn't go through chemo, but had radiation and from what I heard, it's normal not to lose your hair during radiation, but only during chemo. I guess that would be the main difference here.

Yes, Brian has really changed over the years and as Justin mentioned, they had expected the hair loss. Expecting it and it really happening are two very different things though and I will never forget the day my grandmother started losing her hair during her chemo. She had been to wig fittings several times in the weeks before, she was prepared for it, but when it finally happened, I've never seen her break down like that before... Some people might say it's just hair, but for someone going through chemo it's so much more than that :(

Brian has learned over the years that having friends and accepting their help when it's needed makes life way easier than trying to be a lone wolf and take care of everything yourself. He has really changed over the years :)

I am going to have to invest in Kleenex before this story ends.  So hard to imagine Brian bald, but that is part of it.  After 3 1//2 rounds of chemo, my friend's hair came back in better than it had ever been.  There is just something about most people and their hair.  Someone said we think of it as our crowning glory and when it is gone, we feel we are gone also.  But, if it cures the disease, it is a small price to pay, but still not easy to accept.  One of these days, I just feel that our boys are going to get some good news.  Well at least I hope so.  Fantastic writing.

Author's Response:

Haha, you should have done so months ago - you would be rich by now ;) Believe it or not, I can promise that there will be a time when Kleenex might not be needed any longer. Just saying!

Yeah, my grandmother's hair came back after 3 rounds of chemo as well and funnily enough it was better than before she lost it. She loved her new hair so much...

It's great that they discussed about the fact that Justin is exhausted and that Brian wanted/needed to take some of the workload on his own time. I hope they will share their concerns from now on and ask for help.

It's also great that Brian has visited his daughter.

Hi! No, unfortunately I‘ve never been to Canada. My son was there last autumn for three month and now, the canadian boy is with us. He‘s very nice, polite and interested. Unfortunately my son got sick five days after his arrival, so we‘re currently somewhat limited in our activities.

What a beautiful and (as always) great written chapter! It just fits Brian so well that he visits his daughter for the first time at one of the most impossible times. Luckily he meets Maggie, who already knows about him through Justin (also very fiting ;-) )  and is very understanding ans sensitive.

I really hope that Brian won't make a big scene with Justin. It was definitely not right of Justin not to speak about the surgery, but I can totally understand why he hadn‘t told Brian. Brian would‘ve felt even more guilty and possibly withdrawn even more. And if he‘d visited his daughter earlier and not after 3.5 weeks, he would have be aware of the situation. Well, a discussion will be inevitable, but I'm sure that the two will survive this crisis and then they can finally visit their little daughter together! Warmest regards

Author's Response:

Ah, too bad about your son getting sick. I hope he'll be better soon and that you'll be able to do some nice things with your guest :)

Well, Brian is Brian ;) If he gets something in his head and wants to do it, he'll do it right away, not caring if there might be rules or problems along the way *lol* Just kidding, thankfully it all worked out and he got to see Victoria :)

We will find out about Brian's reaction in the next chapter. He had some time to think about what Justin did, so we can only hope that by the time they get to talk, he'll have realised that Justin meant no harm... We'll see...

Hi again! Sorry for the delay of the review, we‘ve got a canadian exchange student since nearly one week and I haven‘t got much time. As nice as this is, it‘s also a little bit exhausting! I haven‘t found the time to read your latest chapter. Maybe today, but first the review.

I totally agree that the show sadly not only reduced their interactions mostly to sex, but also reduced the conversations per se. As we both said before, many things and topics were left unfinished. So, yeah, I really like how you let them talk, interact and behave with each other. And here, in this chapter, I'm very, very happy that Debbie and Jennifer have taken on the task of making Brian aware that it may be time to see his little daughter. Justin has already so much to deal with, so it‘s good that the Grandmas talk some sense into Brian! Warmest regards!

Author's Response:

No need to apologise - I know all about a busy private life, so don't worry about it! And have fun with your Canadian exchange student. That must be a very interesting experience. I went to Canada two years ago and found Canadians to be very nice :) Have you ever been?

I just figured that poor Justin already had enough on his plate and had enough to worry about, so for once it was their support system that would not only support Brian, but Justin as well and take care of this, so he would have one less thing to worry about ;) And we all know that Brian better act fast if the grandmothers complain about something ;)

Thanks for your comment! Enjoy your time with the exchange student :)
