When you said 'little tendrils' ~ I first read it as 'Tentacles.' I could just imagine all these little alien things in his head. Aarrgghh! But even tendrils are kind of yucky with all those little things curling on it. (However, little tentacles and aliens might have been a new twist to the story. ;)
Brian should have had the doc put his in a small cup or something so he could prove what it looked like, and so could Justin. Once he had a look at the growth on the chip, I think he'd been right to the doctor himself to get it removed.
As far as Justin trying to figure out what to do, well, Brian has already offered to pay for the removal of the chip. So he'd lose the continued stipend, well, choose: Loss of money, or loss of life? As far as SoulMates suing for money paid, he's a college student. He has no money. So there's really nothing SoulMates could do.
I'm wondering how everyone else is fairing with theirs. And how can they find out how many others have the chip? I wonder if all these people start showing up in the emergency room with problems, SoulMates better run for the hills. I was a little nervous about Brian trying to press McKenzie about the chip. I don't think I could have been as angry and brash with two security guards with Tasers standing outside the door.
I hope you have more than one chapter left. There's so much more you could explain, unless you have a mega chapter.

So, so, so, so, sorry about just getting over here to read this. What a week I've had. Anyway, are these people serious? SoulMates will be there for you for life.
Did the clients get paid when the chip went in? Because I think I'd have that thing cut out. Is it located in his neck? I wonder why Michael didn't seem to experience that intense pain that Justin did. And gees, what a baby Michael is! I don't in any way see how Justin led Michael on. And enough is enough with the bitching! All three of them should have told him to Shut Up, and get the hell over it.
God forbid if Debbie learned it was Brian whom Justin had been with the night before, and is the cause for Michael's foul mood.
Brian should cut the teasing down with Justin, before Emmett catches on something more is going on.
I absolutely adored this! climb him like a horny monkey. I'm gonna have to keep that one on file.

OMG... you were right... HOT chapter. I'm not sure what to even say.
Brian sure was attuned to Justin's turmoil when they pulled up at the loft. Which was a good thing for Justin. Just one more thing to help ease his mind.
The SoulMate app sure has some weird glitch. Or once again, it just doesn't want people to be sexually charged and experience all the wonders out there. However, I can see why the app would cause disagreement with Hubris. Run, don't walk. Beware! Or doesn't it want people to have S.E.X.? You know that thing like lust? I suppose they figure you can't build a good relationship on that. Maybe that's why with Mikey the app agreed.
I think Justin should mention to Daphne what the app did. At least before contacting SoulMates. I'm trying to remember why Brian's not wearing an app. I know he went about signing up in a different way. I might have to reread some of that.
Back to Mikey... Just what is going to happen when Mikey finds out that Justin was with Brian? That could be a bad, bad thing all around. Because how is Justin going to get through a shift at the diner when the guys are there?

This was just too funny: I don’t do dates. This is just an experiment. Sure, okay, Mr. Kinney.
At first, I was wondering if Brian had looked into ways around the app and made a dummy account. But I think Brian did do something, just because of the way their dance affected both of them at Babylon. He was just intrigued to have another man make him feel the way that he felt around Justin.
Also, Justin would have to be mentally challenged not to do everything in his power to be able to spend time with Brian after the way he was affected, too.
So where's the most romantic place on Earth? :D Under Brian's blue lights?

When Justin was in Michael's vacinity - was Brian always there?
My heart just about did a nosedive when Justin accepted the date with the guy who was an artist, I thought - she's not really going to do that to us, right? Both Michael and Ethan? *gulp*
When Brian came in the diner alone, I was wondering if Brian would have some boards and notes for a campaign, and voilà! Brian and Justin would have a connection. (Anything to get him out of working at the diner.)

When Justin pointed out about Daph being a hetero girl going into a gay club to support her friend, and thus wanting to look good - how does he know the situation of a hetero guy couldn't be there supporting his gay friend? Chances are slim, but never say never. ;)
When everyone was walking to Babylon and Justin and Daphne were being ignored, it would have almost been funny if Justin and Daphne had stopped following, so when the group got to Babylon, Mikey's date was gone. THAT would have given Michael a clue. But THEN, the dance with Brian wouldn't have happened. (I really do hope we get to hear Brian's thoughts on that dance with Justin.)
The way they all got in Babylon and drinks were ushered immediately, I toyed with the idea that maybe Brian owned the club. (Free membership for the youngens. :)
If you were going for a vomit-inducing moment between Michael and Justin, after Justin danced with Brian, you passed with flying colors. I'm still queasy. Justin needs to tell Michael it's just not working. Oh, wait! I know, Daphne could make a trip to Red Cape... Besides, what are best friends for?
As far as the way the app went off, Justin had all those feelings... only it was Brian's closeness, not Michael's. I'm disappointed Justin didn't entertain that. I still think he should contact the company, and this time he could say it wasn't Michael he was with. Then again, I don't know if that's a viable option.

First off... I think Justin should pay a visit to SoulMates, asking why he feels so uneasy thinking about a date with Michael? Should it really be hard work? There was so much drama. It made him tired just thinking about it.
Here I thought Mr. Kinney would have charmed the socks off Sunshine, but instead, he has literally scared Justin away.
I think for Justin's sake, I think he should text Michael and get out of the "date." Maybe Daphne has a bad stomachache, and he needs to take care of her, since she's vomiting and has a temp. (Of course, Justin doesn't want to spread any germs around.)
Justin should also try and look for another cafe/restaurant to work at. It would be hard to brush Michgael off, but Debbie? That'll be suicide! He just needs to get out of the situation he's in. Maybe Daphne has a male friend that would do them a favor, and show up at Babylon with him. THAT should get the message across.
Well, I can't wait for the second boring date at Buzzy's. Poor Justin.

I was so excited to see this update. I had to reread chapter 1, just to get the story fresh in my mind. (Although, that wasn't a hardship.)
I had to laugh when Justin was in the coffee shop and thought: the thirteen year age difference was a bit much. Will he have that same thought when he meets Brian? :D
I could see Debbie being thrilled about Michael and Justin dating. However, how she can think a trip to Buzzy's was 'a date'? SMH... B.O.R.I.N.G.
It will be interesting to find out how you will get Justin away from Michael, without everyone getting upset, and in to Brian's arms.
I hope your writer's block starts easing up. That is one of the worst things ever when you have a story out there.
