Just read this. I didn't like season 4 after about half way through it, and I didn't like season 5 at all. It seemed the writers were desperately trying to undo all the work they had done for the first 3 seasons, regarding B/J's relationship. At the time, I wished I had stopped watching the show when season 3 was over. I wonder if there has ever been interviews where Gale and Randy have given an honest opinion, on how they thought the show panned out, after season 3. Well good thing Brian had a premonition during his dream. He needed to say the words, and Justin needed to hear them, so their relationship could grow and become what it was suppose to be. And damn Brett Keller for wanting to change the comic for the heteros.

So many of us were frustrated by some of the events that happened during Season 4, and even more so Season 5. And yet I never regretted continuing to watch each and every episode. The one good thing that came out of it was how so many fanfic writers did such a good job re-interpreting their stories. I'm thrilled that you approve of my version of how things might have gone. Awww Grammy... you made my heart happy and my eyes teary... that was beautiful. Brian's talking to Justin at the end was so heartfelt and perfect... soooo fantastic!

Season 5 really was just awful- it’s was like none of the writers had ever watched seasons 2-4. I choose to discount most of the events so the “it was all a dream” explanation works perfectly :)

I confess that I got the inspiration for this idea from how they handled the messed up Season on 'Dallas' many years ago, but I thought it might work to correct some of the things we least liked about our Season 5 too. I admit the fifth season wasn't a good year for Brian. Love the way you resolved it so that it's not The End, but the beginning of something new.

Ah yes, I agree with you. While watching the 5th season for the first time I kept asking myself just when we will learn that Justin was abducted by aliens and replaced by a pod person. I felt like all the character growth Brian had gone through in the past seasons never happened.
I get that the writers wanted to do some political statements but I felt rather let down by them during season 5. Look at how it was okay for B/J to define their relationship. Marriage doesn't mean monogamy and so on. They have become so judgemental of their own show and characters in the 5th season, it bothers me deeply.
Anyways, great story. I enjoyed it :) Thank you for sharing.
