Sounds like Mel and Lindsay live in a world of chaos and instead of working out how to fix it they would rather blame the other, that they are putting their careers over the family they told everyone who would listen that they wanted.
If they don't have time for Gus now then at some point they won't have time for Jenny Rebecca too?

I think they rely on Brian to pick up the slack for Gus whereas they won't do the same for JR as Michael is not dependable. He really doesn't see anything about parenting.
