Thank you for this wonderful story.  I do admit that I had

problems with the early part.  I found it too brutal.  Reading some

of the feedback, I am not alone.  Similar to Brian, I had a problem

with Justin.  While Jack was abusing Brian, all Justin did and really

could do was to try to comfort Brian. That wasn’t nearly enough

for me, even Brian turned against Justin.  I would have liked for

Justin to have done ‘something’ to help Brian.  I don’t know what,

but it was enough for me to throw my hands up and give up on

the story.  Of course as you can see I came back.

Anyway, it’s over and it was well worth staying with this story.  I

loved the last part.  I knew and hoped that someway that as Justin

said, they were meant for each other.  Brain seeing Justin under

that streetlight was amazing, every effective.

So once again, thanks for the story.  It took whatever long it

took.  It was well worth it for me.

Author's Response:

I can't argue with you that a lot of this story was hard to take. It was hard to write sometimes too, which probably explains why it took me 4 years to write. I too would have liked for Spirit Justin to do something more to help Brian - but he couldn't because he wasn't corporeal. It wasn't till Jesse came along that he had a way to do something, but even that was limited. And, besides, the point of the story was to explain how Brian became Brian - the complex, flawed, damaged, yet still-struggling and courageous character we saw in the series. Just imagine how much more damaged he would have been coming from that background if he hadn't had someone like Justin there, no matter how small Justin's intervention was. I'm so grateful that you stuck with the story regardless of how difficult it was to read. I hope the ending justified the journey for you in some small way. Thank you for reading and for taking the time to comment. TAG

You just did Tag, thank you for the clarification! Yes I remember Jesse saying that, about being a place holder. It makes better sense for me now, thanks so much hun!

I love the way you write and am happy that you got to finish this story but honestly Tag, this ending was not what I was expecting...It is still fabulous and great writing but I don't know why I feel ambivalent about it. I'm not sure exactly what I expected but 'Justin', Brian's Justin, not really coming back to him was not it. This is Jesse for sure. Did Justin's soul enter Jesse? Is that how & why he survived? I'm sorry hun, I guess I just have some questions...the whole fic was fabulous of course but I guess I thought something more mystical was going to happen. Are you going to make a part 2 to this?

Author's Response:

Sorry but there won't be more to this one. This is the way I'd always envisioned this story ending and I'm not going to change it. I guess I didn't write it well enough, but what I was going for - the big mystical thing that happened - was Jesse basically dying and Justin taking his place so that he and Brian could finally be together for real. If you remember back a few chapters in the story, Jesse said that he'd always felt like a 'place holder' - like he was only killing time in this life - which is because he was only filling in for when Justin would take over. When his heart stopped after the aneurysm, Justin was pulled into his body - that's when he vanished from the scene where Brian was confronting his father. After that, it took a while for him to get back to Brian, but when Brian had truly hit rock bottom and was about to end his life, Justin - in Jesse's body, but with Justin's soul - woke up and came to save him. Just like he'd always promised he would. That's when Brian remembers Justin's words that no matter what he'd come back, even if it was in a form Brian didn't recognize. And that's when Brian recognizes Justin's eyes - HIS Justin. And that's also when Brian's life starts over again . . . Which is what we see at the beginning of the series. It's my way of explaining how the Brian we see in the series got to be how he was. So, that's what I was going for.  I'm sorry if I didn't portray it fully enough. I tried . . . Thanks for sticking with the story even so. TAG

Yeah!!! You did it! Congratulations for this amazing story! Thank you for finishing it.

Such a bright light at the end of the tunnel that was Brian's life until now. So dramatic, yet beautiful.

What next? The part two of this story, where Brian can right the wrongs he made in the series or a big long funny hot summer saga. What suits and motivates you. You write and we will follow you.

Cheers!

Author's Response:

Thanks for sticking with me till this story was finished! My hope was to show how Brian got to be the Brian we saw at the start of the series. I think I did pretty good, but we'll see what you readers say. Now, for the future - I'm working on a lighthearted family fic with Lorie AND there will be a big group writing project story for the summer. So much fun to be had! TAG

<Standing Ovation> Wonderful Ending! It was... yeah, I'm having an emotional moment. Glad that Jesse lived and that Justin was still able to come back. I'm also glad that Jack Kinney and his pronouncements did NOT win!

GREAT JOB TAG!!

HUGS,

~Chelle

Author's Response:

Thanks you for that standing ovation! LOL! I'm glad you like it. My goal was to get Brian to where he was at the beginning of the series and show how he got to be that way. Hope it worked. Now, off to my next big project . . .  Thanks for reading, Chelle! TAG

What a dark chapter! How can Brian still help his father? And for what? More humiliation, more money, more hate...

Jack doesn't deserve the time and money Brian lost on him. He should stay in jail and suffer from beer/alcohol withdraw, and maybe a little ass kicking and/or bone crashing by some angry jail mate.

I hope what happened to Jesse will allow Justin to come back as an actual person. This is the only way Brian won't turn to the darkness his mind and his family are pulling him into.

I really can't wait for the next chapter!

As if Brian didn't question already too much his ability to be a father, the Novotny duo can't stop putting him down. And Vic can't support him.

Poor Jesse, unable to escape his father's decisions. What about the fading? And the headache?

What a great chapter! Scared me a little though, with Jesse getting headaches, I thought shit, not what happened to Justin!

What is this about another group summer fic? Can I join please?

Author's Response:

Glad you liked the chapter even though it IS getting a little scary... not going to comment on that headache thing, although you're pretty sharp to have picked up on it. LOL And, of course, you can join in on the Summer story. I'll be posting more about it on the FB page when we get closer to June. The more the merrier! TAG

Poor Jessie. I want to kick Four's ass for him! I can understand wanting a son to be a success but that's not measured by how much of an extention he can be of his father. What an ASSHOLE! I mean seriously...if Brian had gone down the same road as Jack's underachieving ass...SMH I shudder to contemplate what he would have become.

As for Michael, where is a good cannon when one is needed? He should be shot out of one to land on an uninhabited island far from civilization with only his own voice and thoughts for company. He is a danger to sanity! What's always pissed me off about his character is that for such an authority on everyone else and how they should live their lives, he's another underachiever with entirely too much time on his hands and way too many opinions. What's more infuriating is that during the scope of his character, he wanted nothing more than a promotion at the Big Q or to indulge in his favoite hobby of Comic Books. Yet he has the temerity to think he knows Brian's hopes, dreams and aspirations? Really dude?!

Unfortunately, Brian allows the unfounded, unsolicited ramblings of the jerk to penetrate his brain. It's sad really that Brian lacks so much confidence in directing his personal life. Instead of listening to naysayers who can barely tie their own shoes without be told, he absorbs their low opinions of him. Or more accurately, he takes in their low wishes for him and decides to live by them. It's as if since Michael doesn't try to achieve anything worth having, Brian shouldn't try to either. In this case, it's fatherhood. If only Brian could apply the same determination he has to get ahead in business to his life outside of the boardroom, I think Brian would be a much happier person.

Great chapter and looking forward to MORE!

Happy Writing and HUGS,

~Chelle

Author's Response:

I always love reading your insightful reviews, Chelle! In this case, I think agree with you all around. My underlying point was to show how insecure Brian is behind the mask of invicibility he wears. The scared, abused little boy that hids behind the bravado. This is the story of how he got that way. Thanks for reading, glad you're enjoying it. TAG

Don't know how I missed the story in the past but I'm glad I'm reading it now.  Great back story on Brian and I love Justin as a guardian angel, even if he can't ehlp Brian a lot.

Author's Response:

Glad you've found it now. I always wanted to know in more depth how Brian became the man he was in the series - this is my fanciful idea of how that happened. Happy reading. TAG

A drunken Brian is so funny and open! Michael didn't get what he planned! Thank you dear writer! Even if I can't imagine you could write that scene.

Yay for more chapters, but not for the end of this story. So much could happen before and after the baby is born.

These last two chapters were lovely with their plotty goodness!! I really loved the way Jesse laid it all out for Brian. It gave a whole new meaning to the term "Out of the mouths of Babes." That young man shows more knowledge, wisdom and understanding than the supposed adults in Brian's life. I'm also glad he talked Brian into donating for the baby.

The hotel scene and every scene thereafter with only B&J was HOT!! YAY! They finally did the dirty! So worth the wait. If only they could have stayed there and blocked out the rest of the world for awhile longer...

I am so damn TIRED of Michael, Ted and Emmett! Even if Mel doesn't know any better and is acting predominantly out of spite and jealousy, the guys should know Brian better than that. Out of all of them, HE is the most successful, the most self-assured and the most respected. Yet when it comes to the three of them, they concentrate solely on Brian's perceived faults. My GOD! How I wish Justin had succeeded in kicking the legs of that whiny, judgmental, jealous, obsequious, vicarious-living little bastard's chair from underneath him!!!! That mangy mutt Michael really needs to be punched in the throat. Please get Brian away from all of them but especially from HIM and his toxic influence! *throwing tantrum NOW*

I just love your long chapters! I noticed all the serious plot scattered here & there....the sex was hot hot hot! Go Sunshine!

Fucking Michael needs a slap upside the head! I don’t blame Justin. I vote for more ghost shenanigans!

If only Justin could communicate with Vic, maybe he would step up and stop the "friends" from pushing Brian's buttons.

The initiation was memorable in so many ways. I loved "no glove, no love"!

I understand why Brian is going crazy trying to rationalize what is happening. As much as enjoyable it is, he can't help it: it can't be real, but it feels SOOOOOOOO GOOD!!!!!

Author's Response:

Exactly! It's got to be weird having sex with your imaginary friend who's, at best, a ghost and at worst . . . well, who knows. LOL. I actually had a hard time writing that part because it just felt so odd to me. I was right there with Brian being freaked out. TAG

You said you couldn't make Lindsey evil in this chapter, but are you going to go back to the Evil Stuck-up Bitch Lindsey is?

Glad Brian and Justin could talk a bit.

Author's Response:

Nah, I'm not going to vilifiy any of the main characters too much. I have a specific agenda with this story so I can't really mess with the canon nature of the characters too much. Of course, with Michael, just being his normal character is bad enough, right? LOL. Lindsey will only be a tiny bit manipulative though. Hope you'll still approve. TAG

YAY!!!!! An update!! And a wonderful one at that! Brian and Justin getting closer is always a great thing. But damn Lindsay just barges in.... I wonder if this is getting Brian to see how invasive his friends are...SMH Anyway, I'm glad that Justin is there for Brian to speak positivity into him. If left up to those around him, I doubt Brian would hear a positive word unless they wanted something out of him. Justin is definitely showing Brian the difference between unconditional love and 'love' with conditions. I hope he remembers the lessons when Justin becomes solid again!

Happy Writing and HUGS,
