I'm sure EVERYONE is hoping and praying Lindsay didn't hit Gus, but I'm the opposite. Gus is still a baby. It is NOT going to make a lasting impression. BUT WHAT WILL... is Lindsay getting jail time for child endangerment and child abuse. It MIGHT also snap Debbie back to reality. Because, I think she's still in denial mode. Regardless of who Lindsay hit, she is going to come off as a pariah.

Brian is going to want to have a go at her. Abuse - hitting - anyone, adult or child - is NOT in Brian's world. (and don't get me started on the anniversary party that is NOT part of your story.) ANYWAY...I really hope Justin is on that plane with him. Brian is definitely going to need Justin to keep him grounded.

Apparently Debbie didn't hear the convo when Michael was in Justin's room, for a minute I was hoping Jen's cell phone recorder was on. No such luck. Anyway... I'd have loved to see the tumble down the stairs! hehe...

Nice twist having Marty/Marilyn owning the building.

You're aware you left us all wanting more, right?

Faults & faults Michel, Lindsay, Deb are the Most Ungrateful, Unlikeable interfering characters of QaF. Its Good to read fics like these Pointing out their evident manuplations through out show done to Brian & Justin.

 

 

 

Everyone has its limits. Good for Marlyn, Vic, Jen. Deb will fail try to load it on other. Lindsay should be doomed clearly.

I say it will be 80-20 Deb will truly listen and understand that her behavior along with Michael and Lindsay's has Brian and Justin avoiding them all like the plan along with everyone else. (80% Denial, 20% Actually Listening)

With over a hundred and sixty bullying, harassing voicemails Deb should be embarrassed by her part iin those voicemails.

Marty owning the building while also looking out for the safety, protection and hearing of the tenants is a good thing, all three of them need to be banned from that building and if Deb doesn't change it could be the start of her being banned from more with Michael and Lindsay.

Jennifer and Vic are showing extreme patients considering how deluded Deb is but you can't fully stoop to her level cause you won't get anywhere.

Besides Jennifer wouldn't look good in Orange lol

If Lindsay hit Mel she will regret that cause Brian along with everyone else will be pissed but if she hit Gus then she better kill herself cause neither the police or jail will save her from the wrath that is about to rain on her head.

Brian and Justin are coming to Pittsburgh, Everyone Brave For Impact!!!

If Ron and Nancy get involved to get Lindsay out of trouble then I hope they are prepared to deal with one pissed off grandmother in Jennifer Taylor and two pissed off Fathers in Brian and Justin.

Ron and Nancy better stay out of this battle because the second they get involved will be the last mistake they will ever make.

Then Jennifer will make her name in the countryclub set so toxic that she and her family she so wants to empress are knocked down to the gutter where they belong.

And if it is Mel, both Vic and Brian will get Mel and Gus THE HELL OUT OF THE PITTS.

I'm surprised regarding the fact that one person can own a building and some other people can own flats within said building. Is it common practice in the US?

Hey Claire! Thanks for your question. In the US, there are several ways to own a property. Of course, there is the standard purchase of a house or commercial building. There is renting with an option to buy (done sort of like leasing a car with that same option), and then there is a situation like the one which appears in this story.

From my experience with condos vs. apartments, the one thing that can happen- and does here- is where there is a sort of split ownership. That means although Brian owns his loft flat out, he still pays a homeowner's association fee and a portion of the property taxes to the owner of the building. It's the same with a condominium complex and is usually included in a seller's (be it a realtor/ property management company, or an independent homeowner who opted to negotiate privately) contract concerning the HOA fees to be signed by the buyer. The contract can (and usually does) include a list of maintenance costs, homeowner's insurance, facility fees and in some instances closing costs at the time of negotiation. In actuality if the option is available, it's good business sense to take advantage of it since you get all the rights and privleges of owning your place, but none of the key responsibilities like fixing the roof, etc that owning an actual house has.

Sure you might pay a portion beyond your monthly mortgage payment to contribute to the cost of repair, but it's definitely miniscule as opposed to paying the whole 10K out of your own pocket at one time to have an entire roof replaced. So in the case of Marty/Marilyn owning the building, there are both apartments (in which rent will be collected each month as a way to pay the property taxes on the land) and lofts that are owned (which have a standard HOA fee that changes hands that Marty will receive a portion of, and can be viewed as a steady source of excess income). Therefore, Brian would still have to pay for use of the space- not the loft itself, but the land that it's technically housed in.
