Great job so far! I'm looking forward to the continued smackdowns of Selfish Inc. I don't hardly think they will be ready for what's coming their way in the form of Justin. And the fact that I doubt Brian will stop him... well, yes Ma'am! GET TO WRITING! LOL

Really enjoyed the conversation between Brian and Gussie. Also love the fact that Gus trusts Mel because his Bio-mom is obviously a damn twit! I can't wait until Lindsay gets hers; same for Michael. Looking forward to the FUN Brian, Justin and Gus are going to have without the specter of the Idiots-R-Us Association hanging over their heads.

Now THAT was PERFECT!!!!! YES, MEL!!! Explode ALL of their delusions of self-importance! I will say that I was very happy with Deb's response to Michael's continued assholery. I hope that some other alarm bells start sounding off in her head to call Ben and get the real story. Not only is Michael hiding the truth, he's lying worse than a threadbare toupee about what he and Ben supposedly decided. I'm looking forward to that being exposed in all facets.

As for that cooing Thunder Twat, Lindsay, GOOD FOR HER!! Super Trick thought she was slick with all her slutting around, only to have her wife expose her secret in front of her worse enemy. Again, W2G, MEL!!! I hope that the first people that Mel contacts are Ted/Emmett, and then an attorney to begin the process of leaving little Miss Burning STD by the wayside. Also hopefully, she will be able to get a message to Brian immediately too, since we all know that he's the first person Lindsay is going to call with her sob story.

I'm SOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooo looking forward to MORE!

Alright now! Thank you, Emmett, for telling Ben the unvarnished TRUTH about Michael. I can't believe that he still wants to think the best of Michael when he's obviously being shown the worse. Em and Ted are right; Ben deserves everything he's gotten since he wanted to employ some willful blindness of his own.

BTW... I actually laughed loud and long at the 'Stewart' reference. I don't know anyone who ever watched AMC that wouldn't have picked up on it. Yet, even in all of that, Stewart would have known eventually that Michael was a grade-A asshole and kicked him to the curb without blaming the victim of Michael's obsessions. Ben needs to go sit in a corner until he can make better decisions!

Really enjoyed this and looking forward to MORE!

Great job! I really love that Gus is smart enough to know who his people are. Mel continues to prove to Brian that a DNA link doesn't solely make a parent. I believe that's a valuable lesson he will need going forward. And if he should have any doubts about it, he can certainly look to Gus and his Jussin's relationship for reassurance. As for the showdown on Sunday, YES! i'm soooooo looking forward to that. I wonder if while telling everyone that he and Justin are married, if he will also address Lindsay's spending. Hopefully while talking to Ted, Mel has officially begun unraveling her life from Lindsay's. We have a pretty good idea of what's going to happen with Michael already, and somewhat with Lindsay, but the issues with her will undoubtedly be a bit more complicated.

Now as for the length of the chapter itself, NO WORRIES! You have to write as you feel it, and for the record, many authors both here and in RL write scene by scene. So don't feel as though you have to keep up with some type of 'format'. For me personally, if I wrote scene by scene, most of my fics would be five-hundred chapters long LOL. You're doing a wonderful job!

It's NOT an easy feat to craft any type of story, while keeping the audience engaged wholly. So thank you for coming out of your proverbial closet and gifting us with this!

I really LOVE Gus, and that he's spilling the beans on Michael and Lindsay. I have to laugh at how innocently it's all coming out, especially about Lindsay's stash of trinkets. Between Mel, Justin and Brian, Gus is going to grow up to be an amazing, and outspoken young man who is sure of himself and the people who love him.

Lindsay is such a BITCH! So in order to drive a wedge between Gus and the family who loves him, she implants these little digs into her son's head? What kind of selfish, spoiled... God! I wish there was a way to charge her with emotional abuse! Hopefully, there will be a way for her to get what she deserves; Michael, too because those two deserve each other!

Looking forward to MORE!

WHOO-HOO!!!! I CAN'T WAIT!!!! Em is cracking me UP! I agree with his reaction wholeheartedly. Ben really needs a healthy dose of STFU, and for him to even imply that Michael has been a father-figure.... LAWD HAM TURKEY Someone put the poor blind, one brain-celled horse out of his misery! It's actually painful to watch him be so damn stupid.

Between Mel and Brian, I couldn't love the verbal slaps and smackdowns any more. With no more than a few words, Selfish, Inc was told that their days were numbered. And yet, Mel and Brian were holding back for the kids' sakes. I was also PROUD of Debbie for not giving into Michael's whining tirade. Lord knows after a week of him, I'd have been ready to launch him headfirst into oncoming traffic- Erm, make that an hour. But she's willing to provide backup for Brian's peace of mind in all the ways that matter, beginning with ordering him to tell the little demanding ingrate that he's NOT moving in with Brian.

And now we are up to the announcement portion of the evening...YES!!!! MORE smackdowns, tears and tantrums to come!

Excellent chapter!

BTW... that smackdown of Justin to Lindsay was CLASSIC! I mean if you're going to try to correct someone, at least have your own facts straight, right? LMAO!!! So looking forward to MORE!

GUS IS THE LITTLE MAN!!!!!!! I LOVE how he is putting Michael and Lindsay's crap on MAJOR blast in front of everyone! LMAOOOOOOOOOoooooooo! HELLO KARMA, and how are you today? Michael and Lindsay are the most MESSY people, and are getting exposed in a way that can't be refuted.

Hopefully, Michael's will get a freight-train fast fist to the mouth for talking to Gus out of turn. As for Lindsay's thoughts and reactions, I really hope that by the end of dinner, she'll be eating crow OUTSIDE of the family. It's so obvious that it's time to boot her flat behind OUT. Butttt, well there's still Gus to consider so where would that leave him? One thing's for certain though: Lindsay CANNOT be trusted not to try and retaliate against Gus.

I can't wait for these EXPLOSIONS (no way can they be considered mere fireworks) to continue!

Hey Janet,

I'm finally getting a chance to make the rounds on the 'MR' page. First of all though, WELCOME BACK! It's going to be great to read your stories here again, especially since somehow I keep forgetting my password on AO3.

Secondly, I really liked this chapter. Brian has made his intentions clear, and it looks like eventually Justin will accept the challenge and make him work harder than he ever has at anything in his long life. First and foremost though, I'm glad that Justin is getting out of that apartment. The specter of Seth couldn't possibly allow him to heal. I'll have to go back and read some of this, but wasn't there some type of inheritance that was for Justin, which Seth was really after? Either way, I'm glad he's gone! That turd was even worse than the stories I've read about Ethan. It's going to be interesting to see if the sole reason Brian was unable to compel Justin was simply because of Seth's machinations, or if there is something about Justin that makes him impervious to such actions.

So the only real issue to worry about is Ben now, and how he will take the presence of Justin in Brian's life. I really hope that he won't turn out to be another Michael in a vampiric way; always interfering under the false pretense of actually caring, instead of being a controlling troll. Hopefully, he and Brian won't exchange harsh words concerning Justin because I have a feeling that Brian won't hesitate to cut him off in an effort to have the one he wants.

Can't wait for MORE!

HAPPY WRITING and HUGS,

~Nichelle

Author's Response:

Hello Chelle,

Thank you for the warm welcome. I truly appreciate that! :) It will definitely take time to upload my stories. You never realize how many there are until you go through this process!

Brian has definitely made his intentions known. There is never any subtlety in that man, but even less of it here in this 'verse. Justin isn't a pushowver; at least, not when he is in his right mind, and clear of any chemical enhancements. Justin seemed very certain of not wanting to stay in Seth's apartment, whether he ever returned or not. I guess we know that isn't possible, though. Lol. I can't see any way it would have been a healthy environment for him with all that he's been through.

And yes, you remembered correctly. There is an inheritance that Justin hasn't come into yet that Seth wanted to get his greedy hands on. That should come to light soon, and perhaps be something that can soothe Justin's mind in regards to his future. Yes, I would agree. Seth was odious in every way. I don't think I've even written anything with Ethan as despicable. Michael, hmmm maybe. My contempt for him always comes forth in my writing - LOL.

I guess we will see about Justin's inability to be compelled. Once he is living with Ben and Brian, I think some things will be answered. And yes, Ben could be a real concern. In his defense, though, I will say that he genuinely loves his brother and fears his sometimes reckless life will somehow end it. Protecting Brian is much of what he lives for. I am sure his often rebellious brother challenges his goals at times, and will continue to do so.

I am working on the next chapter now, so I expect an update much sooner than the last few have been.

Thanks for reading and commenting. I appreciate that so much!

Hugs,

Janet

Poor Justin... And yet, NOT. Somehow, I think he'll grow stronger from his experience with Seth.

As for Brian and Ben's puzzlement on why Brian cannot seem to compel Justin, I'm thinking there is something information about that locked away into Justin's memories, including just who the relative is. Perhaps Justin can get his inheritance earlier, and begin to rediscover himself, even as Brian and Ben try to figure him out.

I don't know but there are so MANY thoughts and possibilities running through my head right now! Can't wait for all of this to unfold!

HAPPY WRITING and HUGS, Janet!!!

~Chelle

Author's Response:

Yes, you are definitely right. There are so many possibilities and avenues this story could take. I think it will start to come together soon as I don't plan on this being one of my 'War and Peace' stories on length. LOL.

I guess first we'll see what Ben's take is on Justin once they meet face to face. Ben is extremely gifted in ways that Brian is not... so, he could figure something out. Only time will tell. But for sure, the relative that Justin doesn't seemingly have any knowledge of could be significant. :)

Thanks for reading and your support, Chelle. I appreciate that so very much.

Hugs,

Janet

Hey Darling! I haven't had much time for anything other than RL lately, but I wanted to drop in and see what was going on. And Girlie, am I GLAD I did!!! This chapter was wonderful. I couldn't be happier that Michael is going to jail without collecting even $200 dollars. That little fake ass Millburn Pennybags deserves everything he's going to get; same goes for Brad and Kip! I'm almost sure that with the way Michael's personality is, the courts will certainly be tacking on more time than the eight years he was given. Entitled BRAT!

And speaking of entitled brats, that damn Lindsay... Oh LAWD, HAM TURKEY! I can already see the writing on the wall with that one. No way is she going to straighten up and fly right; I mean she's so good at flying wrong in all her decisions as it is. But I'm looking forward to the rest of the story since I've aways considered her as the Wannabe QUEEN Manipulator. It's going to be more than a little fun to watch what she'll do, and the consequences of not listening when others speak. That is indeed one arrogant trollop! Hopefully, Melanie will find a way to wind back that ultimatum, even if I think she shouldn't have given one to Lindsay in the first place.

Really enjoyed this chapter, and looking forward to MORE!

P.S. I'm STILL not sure how I feel about Jennifer, even if she did do a good deed in passing along the infomation. I can't see a way that her actions/thoughts could be justified.

Hey Sandy!!! Sorry I've been a bit M.I.A., but work, work and more WORK <insert eye roll here>. Anyway, I wanted to drop a line to tell you just how much I am enjoying this story. I read it all the way through to this chapter, and let me just tell you that you have a gift of storytelling. I could honestly see all of this happening. Brian and Justin's first official date had me smiling like Chester Cheetah with his first bag of Cheetos. It was sweet, and perhaps the perfect setup for a 'last' first date.

As for Lindsay's chronic complaining and harassment regarding Brian's life choices, I just wanted to smack her silent! How dare she imply that Brian shouldn't be dating all under the guise that Gus might get attached? 'Isn't it unethical for you to be dating your sponsor? I probably would have shut her down immediately by asking in return just how ethical it is to use the child support and other requested money for 'Gus' for financing her life instead of buying the things to enhance her son's. But see that why I'm not Brian, and couldn't have come up with this storyline. My first inclination is always to set metaphorical fire to Lindsay's sanctimonious ass, and this would have given me too many opportunities to do just that, regardless of the 'Become someone new, someone different" vibe. I know my limitations, LOL. But honestly, I think the real problem is that it's all well and good for her to be in a relationship, but not her prized bull. Somehow, someway I don't doubt she'll find a way to blame Brian's new relationship for him putting a stop to the money train. It can't just be that she's a gold-digging trollop, who is still trying to use the heretofore cut umbilical cord as a noose to strangle Brian into being her 'husband' in all but name.

Then we have the abject stupidity of Sir Big Mouth, who believes he has the right to weigh in on Brian's life. I think I actually cheered aloud when Brian, Ted and Emmett got up to leave him at the Diner by himself. What's more is that Debbie didn't try to intervene on his behalf, which shows her own growth in a sense. I would imagine though that it's not necessarily Brian Michael 'misses' at all, but the miniscule notoriety of being Brian's 'best friend' that has really upended his world. Perhaps Debbie is really seeing for herself that whereas Brian was Michael's best friend, her son was NOT Brian's, especially since a true friend would want what's best for the other person. Friendship is a two-way street, and as far as I'm concerned, Michael should remain stuck and lost on that particular lonely highway.

All in all, the emotions of this chapter was all too real, and you did a splendid job of Brian running the emotional gamut of diappointment and confusion with a small dash of hope mixed in. I think regardless of where we all are in life, we have all experienced that same kind of disillusionment on some level, even if it's not necessarily the way things are. I know I have been in several situations where I've been forced to play the happy parent while inside I'm doing my best not to fall apart. So whereas in one area of Brian's life he's experiencing success, now he's also experiencing a few growing pains to go along with it. I just hope he's understanding and reasonable when he finds out the reason for the missed texts.

I think that's about all I can put into words at this moment. I hope to be able to read more of this soon.

HUGS, LOVE and WRITE ON, Sandy!

~Nichelle

Author's Response:

Nichelle:

I appreciate all the feedback.  I'm very true to my dislike of Lindsay and Micheal and this story is no different.  I really beleive that LIndsay would be almost jealous of the fact that Brian was finally getting his act together. So much of her friendship is based on her being able to give him advice as she watches from the sidelines and just blows up his personal life.  She uses his drinking and sexualy activity as a means to not allow his interactions with Gus and now that he has cleaned up his act, she is threatened by their continued and growing closeness. She is watching as her carefully crafted machinations are falling apart.  As for Mikey, he's a loser- end of statement.  I enjoy writing and expanding on the characters in the show and I'm pleased to see that my portrayl of the characters and the situations ring true. Thank you for your continued reading.

So pissed at all of them! I hope Justin goes on to become the biggest success he can, and leave all of them behind. I hope he finds himself a new and improved network of people entirely. None of them, not even his mother and sister, deserve any contact with him. At least Daph had his back, as always. The rest of them.... ugh!

Okay, now that my rant is over (for now), I will tell you that you've done an excellent job pulling these emotions out of me, and so early in the morning, too.

Author's Response:

Nichelle, thank you for letting me know I was able to pull those emotions out of you; that is a great compliment! Your stories do the same to me! It is also what I really liked about Simon's series, it really stirred my emotions; especially the way she more or less turned Justin into Michael. Justin seemed to go from one bad relationship to another, always waiting for Brian to want him, and even ending up taking whatever crumbs Brian had left for him after Steve died. I wanted to explore a stronger, more in character, Justin. This is the second ‘what if' story I've posted using Simon's AU. I have many, many more; all taking different scenarios. I just have to figure out how to end them! LOL!

Daph, definitely has Justin's back, as a best friend should. If I decide to write a sequel to this one, I will most likely set it in the future with Justin being quite successful and happy. And, yeah, he's not going to have a lot of contact with Jennifer or Molly. The others... probably not so happy or successful either. Big, evil smile! LOL!

Thanks for reading and reviewing!
