What a joyful and joy-filled reunion! So happy that Brian and Justin have reconnected in 'their' way, and that they are going to finally going forward with their baby plans. HA! I can just about imagine the mutinous and regretful look on Michael's face at the fact that everything he and Collier tried still didn't stop Brian and Justin from living their best lives.

As for Lindsay, I'm so glad that she's finally gotten the epiphany she so desperately needed in regards to her family's- especially Nancy's- motives. Hurt people HURT people and misery truly loves company. Hopefully, Lindsay will continue to grow as a person as she begins to appreciate the small things that ultimately make up a life well-lived.

Splendid chapter and looking forward to MORE!

Ever wish you could be in two places at once? So did Brian Kinney. What with the demands from his new boss, the 'needs' of his "family" and his desire to spend time in his Sunshine, in the snowy vistas of Vermont, the Stud was about to lose it. Enter Doc Alex with an intriguing proposistion.

But there is a reason the age old adage 'be careful what you wish for' is so cliched.

Hey Re,

Just wanted to let you know that I'm so PROUD of you!!! I haven't started reading this yet, because I'm steadily trying to find time to play catch-up on my own. But as soon as I do, this is the first thing I'm delving into! Continue to do well (did I mention how proud of you I am? lol), and keep pushing through.

MUCH LOVE and A MILLION HUGS,

Hey SandyBabe!

Another wonderful addition to the series and I'm sooooo looking forward to MORE!

Just goes to show that the saying: When digging one ditch, dig two is TRUE! It was absolutely wonderful to see Little Lord Fauntleroy and Miss wanna be Lady-of-the-Manor get 'pushed in' publicly. Then to have the true facts (and not another installment of Lindsay's Victimhood Chronicles as written by the witch herself) stated in a staff meeting...well I could just about see Lindsay's indignance. No doubt she pulled a Michael, equipped with squinty eyes, pouty lips and folded arms, but no matter. I have a feeling that she'll be out of a job way before Justin's meeting with Sydney.

Great Chapter, Darling!

Happy Writing and HUGS,

FABULOUS Chapter, StarBaby! I felt exactly like Blake and Deb, while Carl was explaining Michael's nonexistent 'talking to Brian' theory. That Nasty, Dirty Mutha-shut yo' mouth!! Definitely had to employ a variation on a 'Shaft' lyric when thinking about that freaky, sneaky snake in the grass! And EW! EWWWW! EWWWWWWWWWW! <mumbling to myself> Michael is an asexual plant; Michael is an asexual plant; MICHAEL IS AN ASEXUAL PLANT DAMMIT! Ah, my brain feels better now...LOL

I'm so glad they are going to let that little scuzzbucket deal with his own drama now. I'm also happy that he showed his true colors in front of Deb, and she FINALLY isn't buying into the tears and tantrums. Hopefully with the restraining order in place, Brian, Justin and everyone else will finally get some peace.

Looking forward to MORE!

Stupid Mikey...tricks are for kids! It's obvious that Brian has grown up while Michael is still stuck on the playground. I'm enjoying seeing him being left behind. Can't imagine what it's going to take for Michael to get it through that cement-encased bird brain of his, but I have no doubt it's going to be interesting to watch...sort of like a train wreck you just can't look away from no matter how horrifying and predictable it is. Crash and burn, Mikey! Crash and burn!

RUN, BEN! RUNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And don't stop until you get some damn sense! Getting involved with Michael is just asking for a lifetime supply of Prozac!

Loved the talk with Brian, Ted and Cyn. I simply love their dynamic with Cynthia putting them both in the hot seat. She's a pistol! LOL

As for the talk with Blake and Justin, sooooooo entertaining! I love that Em and Blake have a real shot of becoming friends here, separate and apart from Blake's relationship with Ted. Justin's Bri D-whipped and LOVING it! Five times instead of four, indeed! Now we just have to get Bran and Em hooked up with someone they could see their futures with. Yes, I'm a bleeding heart where them and this fic is concerned.

Fabulous chapter, Darling!

So Joanie got arrested...and Brandon is taking care of the arrest. That's PERFECT!!! As always, I wanted to twist myself through a phone line and deck Claire. That entitled little harridan just rubs me the wrong way. She and Joan are cut from the same narrow-minded cloth. How they insult Brian, but then expects them him to bail them out of their mess has always stymied me. Well, let I hope St. Joan enjoys the proof that she's far from perfect with a nice big DUI on her record, and a jacked-up garage whose door probably looks as tore up from the floor up as Joan's drunken butt does.

Mel and Brian getting along is always fun to read. I've always believed that if they could just get passed their differences, they would find a lot more in common than they ever thought possible. I laughed aloud at the reference to the Apocalypse, but I don't think they have anything to worry about yet. Now if Michael actually gets a brain, or at least a clue... well then I would definitely start looking for those horsemen, LOL

Great chapter, Darling, and looking forward to MORE!

HAPPY Writing and HUGS,

EXCELLENT chapter, StarBaby!!! Claire will probably shit bricks that Joan won't be there to pawn the boys off to while Joan is in rehab. For whatever reason, I hope she comes out a changed woman that admits all the wrong she's done, and then tries to lead a better life. I guess that stems from two of my own close relatives, who battled their addictions over the course of 25+ years, but are now clean. I think Justin hit the nail on the head in reference to why Joan drank when Brian was younger, but I think most of her addiction now is to drown out Claire. Good gravy that mealy-mouthed termagent can drive anyone to self-medicate!

As for Michael, well I think we can all safely say that 'dinner' will NOT be served for his nonexistent 'best friends'. He must really like the taste of his crunchy corns and Hammer toes since he continually keeps putting his foot in his mouth. I was kinda hoping for Carl to ask His Assholiness how he just happened to be at the police station since Joan's arrest wasn't public knowledge, but watching him pout at being chronically ignored was even better. Michael's brain is about as useful as roadkill, but I doubt vultures would even want to take a bite of the rotten gray matter.

Looking forward to MORE!!

What a BEAUTIFUL and PEACEFUL chapter!! Brian's introspection was spot on. He went from the nightmare that was Joan and Jack to the insanity of Michael of the Complain and Cockblock Express. I loved that he didn't even notice he hadn't heard from Michael. Although I know the little pissant is bound to show up, I hope Brian continues to ignore him.

Emmett's reaction to Brian's phone call, and his reasoning for straddling the matrimonial fence had me laughing. Then Ted calling out Brandon, and his reaction to Blake's comment was all I could have hoped for in that moment. Their banter was so easy and light, proving that the whole 'gang' is already moving passed Michael's continual banality and ready to start living their lives to the fullest. I'm doing my happy dance in my seat at these latest developments!!

HILARIOUS!!!!! Good for the little rat bastard! Wish Brian could file "Peeping Tom" charges for all the other times Michael watched him too, but this is assuaging that wish greatly. There is no way for Dumby to bump his gums out of this one. The house that should have been his, indeed!

The resulting sex scene(s) from Justin envisioning a Ben/Brian interlude was great and so HOT! Somehow, I think would have had the same reaction. LOL

Oh, I want to punch Claire in the mouth, and snatch out her throat. What a wasted use of sperm! However, strange as it may seem, I don't know if I believe that she put her sons up to calling the police to harass Justin. This seems more like a Michael/Claire combo than anything else, since they both have reason to want Justin out of Brian's orbit. It's not hard to imagine both of them joining forces just this once to achieve their expected ends.

Can't wait to see if I'm right and for more of this story!

First, congrats on your first fic! This was perfection from beginning to end! Michael got much MORE than he bargained for going after Brian. At first, there was the classic narcissistic 'Michael' moves, thinking that he is the center of Brian's universe. And then when he found out he wasn't, it was the chronic bitch moves- first, by fooling Nigel, then by attacking Justin, then whining the dreaded 'But I'm your best friend' to try to trigger Brian's guilt, and finally throwing a MAJOR temper tantrum when all his carefully laid plans came to naught. Hopefully even if he's cured of his delusions, there will be a 9 x 9 cell waiting for him along with a bald-headed roomie named Barch! The screeching will be heard all over the Pitts...lol

Whatever you decide to write next, I'm definitely here for it!

Author's Response:

Oh, thank you so much, Nichelle. I'm glad you liked it. Your reading and reviewing means so very much to me. I'm surprised how this took off. I planned a small one-shot (well, it really wasn't much more than that), but once I got going with Michael's trip to New York, his trials and tribulations had a mind of their own. And I had the giggles writing the last paragraph. Wasn't sure if I should have added that, but hey. Writing has their own muse.

I do have another one-shot to post in the next day or two. Plot's been done to death, but I'm glad to say, mine's completely different. Hope to see you there.

This was really good! I loved reliving 'Night 2' through Justin's POV. It gave the entire chapter life and movement, starting in Babylon and ending with the horror and hilarity of the moment. I could have totally seen a scene like this occurring in the series, sans the whole MPREG thing. LOL!

I can't wait for the PITA ASS-ociation to get caught in their fuckery. I'm sort of hoping that it's Mel or Deb, who finds the evidence of what the idiots have been up to, and BEFORE Brian has a chance to ruin things with Justin. I know it can be deemed as unrealistic, but hey, a gal can live in hope, even as the two resident dumbasses live in their delusions.

I can't wait for the next chapter!

Ahh, thanks Nchelle. I was a little leary putting the whole 'lost condom' thing out there, but I wanted something different than the normal condom breakage. OMG! I hope that Justin won't be naive enough to give into Michael's demands! I also hope that the campus of St. James has security cameras. I mean with the tuition they charge, surely they can afford them? I'm hoping that Hobbs gets questioned and in trouble, too, but with the photos and evidence against Michael, losing his job at the Big Q is going to be the least of his worries. HELLOOOOOO STALKING CHARGE!! And there isn't anything ANYONE will be able to do, or in this case will WANT to do to help him.

I have to wonder though, did Lindsay help the village idiot come up with this plan? He would certainly have been in contact with her to keep her informed of if/when Justin makes any appearances on Liberty Avenue's side of town. Not only that, but... well, how would Michael even really know where to look to find Justin? Other than the one time he and Deb took Justin home BY CAR- not the bus, there wasn't any other time that he would have had a reason to be in the vicinity.

Looking forward to the next chapter!

Happy Writing and HUGS,

Author's Response:

I'm hoping that Hobbs gets questioned and in trouble, too...

Hmm.. nice thought, but Justin hasn't really had any 'trouble' with Hobbs yet. Still early in the school year. So other than a few snide comments, no interactions that would warrant Hobbs involvement.

Hey Cathy,

I hope the fact that Michael basically got out of trouble means that there is MORE TROUBLE brewing for him. Lindsay, too! The games they play with people's lives deserve a punch to the throat and some real hard lessons delivered!

As for Justin, I think Daphne would be able to handle the news concerning Michael's threat to her extremely well, and in very efficient ways. Even in this fic (which is also how I LOVE to write her within my own), she's extremely intelligent and does NOT seem easily intimidated. Besides, I think she certainly needs a reason to corner Brian at this point. After all, under what better set of circumstances would Daph have to tell him about the asshole his so-called best friend really is, and to confirm the fact that Justin really DID put the alarm on the loft? Yeah, she needs to be told for so MANY reasons!

I love the addition of Aunt June. She seems real down-to-earth, and the fact that she hates Craig is a BIG PLUS. Too bad Jennifer can't see what an asshole her husband is, and is uncomfortably reminding me of how I viewed Deb, both in the series and while writing. As long as the crap Craig pulls is done to Justin and not her, then she can keep her distance from the situation while continuing to live her very comfortable lifestyle. But as soon as what he does affects her directly, she'll be up in arms and ready to divorce the bastard, when she should have done so in regards to the safety and wellbeing of her son. That whole 'needs of the whole family, not just your desires' thing burned me up at the time, and it still does. How could she not acknowledge the mental and emotional abuse being meted out at Craig's hands in reference to Justin?! But that's just me ranting, so feel free to snap me out of it.

Anyway, hopefully June can help Justin make a life for himself, and his impending foray into fatherhood. I can't say that I feel sorry for Brian, since he really should have checked all the facts, or better yet LISTENED instead of just reacting on a very wrong inclination when he kicked Justin out. But I am looking forward to him finding out that his so-called friends are really his Enslavers, and that despite the circumstances, Justin Taylor will always land on his feet with or without Brian Kinney. He's certainly more MAN than mealy-mouthed Michael!

HUGS and LOVE,

~Nichelle

Author's Response:

Feel free to rant away!  I know how riled I can get myself. I get so caught up in reading some of your chapters, after I leave a particularly scathing review, and then calm down, I berate myself thinking, Martha Mae, this is just a story!!

I already sent off my next chapter, and hmm... let's just say... Daphne is... nope, not gonna say.

As far as that part about Jennifer feeling she needed to do what's best for the whole family... it was always a sore spot with me. Better for who? Certainly not a seventeen-yr-old boy trying to come to terms with his sexuality. While she allows him to flounder, she sat in her cushy home!

Thanks for reading!

Hey Cathy,

First, does anyone want to tell me just why at 4:25 EST I'm up reading this? LOL Early to rise does have its privledges sometimes. And OH what a delight it was to read this uninterrupted from the possibly the busiest house in North America!

I'm so glad that Brian is realizing he acted in haste when he kicked Justin out. I was especially happy when he heard the disparaging comments of Michael and Lindsay for himself, and reacted accordingly. Then his conversation with Ted and Emmett shed light in some deliberately darkly hidden places for him, from both their point of views and that of Melanie. Now he can fully see he's been doing exactly what Lindsay wanted when setting up her Happy Heteronormative Haven delusion. Sometimes all it takes is an enforced look into the rearview mirror of life to see where you've been and where you're heading to change your destination at your own whim, instead of others. I think Brian is just about ready to do that since he'll now know what to look and listen for.

Daphne is such a little spitfire and I LOVE that about her. She didn't give Brian an inch, even while acknowledging his concern. Justin telling her the truth was definitely needed. I'm glad that she advised Brian to talk to Michael while divulging BIG tidbits of fact, while still maintaining Justin's privacy. Now THAT is a TRUE BEST FRIEND!

I do hope Brian will take her advice and talk to the worm (apologies to worms everywhere because although you're slimy, you're not malicious). He'll, of course, try to lie his way out of his misdeeds, which hopefully won't work as it has in the past. And who knows? Maybe with the new information, the managers at the Big Q will fire his nonexistent ass, too. But I'm still routing for Mel or Deb to discover where all of Brian's 'missing' items of clothing, and such, are.

The other things stolen are for the police to uncover, which hopefully will also happen so Brian can be informed that the loft door was already open when they got there. But the things Michael and Lindsay took should have to be answered for; first by Brian and the family, then by the police. Lil' Satan and Lilith need their asses burned in the most effective ways possible!

I really am enjoying this! Keep up the good work!

HAPPY WRITING and HUGS,

~Nichelle

Author's Response:

I answered all reviews, leaving you for last... Hmm, I wonder what THAT means... trying to get my thoughts sorted, I think.

Do you realize how hard it is to come up with new material? I think I have a really good idea, and then Viola, I read it in one of your stories. (You know what I'm talking about.) With the thousands stories I've read, you almost think everything out there has been written, but occasionally a new idea will form. Take for example, Daphne telling Brian they grew up locking doors, which in their neighbor, doesn't seem farfetched. I remember how Debbie said she never locks her door... so to come up with something unique, is fun. Then you ruin it!!! *hehe* So, stop thinking like me! (or is it the other way around?) Anyway, hopefully I can still pull out something that will be different.

As far as, Lil' Satan and Lilith, Nobody can match your name calling. How you come up with those names, is beyond me. But, all that aside,I felt the same as you. A TRUE friend is going to HELP their friend, not stop them from Living and Breathing. What Brian decides is anybody's guess, but hmm... I think he even surprised me!

Thank you so much Nichelle. Your reading and support has meant so much to me,

HUGS ~Cathy

So proud of Brian! He's been conquering his demons- those of a mental nature and the human kind. He didn't explode at Michael's constant whining, but Brian still answered Michael with the truth tinged with the annoyance he was no doubt feeling. He maintained the control over his emotions he needed to make conscious and wise choices in his sobriety. I am so PROUD of him!

I am also happy that Debbie didn't push Brian for answers. The assessment he gave to Ted, about Deb's inability to keep her well-meaning mouth closed, was spot-on! Although she wouldn't have been malcious in divulging Brian's personal business, the fact remains that if she knew, Brian would have to worry about so much more than just maintaining his sanity during his personal journey. He was also correct in how the information would be perceived by Lindsay. She would applaud his efforts while carefully twisting the metaphorical knife by withholding his access to Gus. Sadly, although I think that Brian should tell Melanie as opposed to Lindsay, I doubt she would be all that gung-ho for him to succeed. In her mind, he'd be systematically taking all her ammunition against him away, and Mel would throw as big a tantrum about it as Michael and Lindsay are no doubt going to.

However, like Brian, I would like to know what they are doing with the support money for Gus, too. It sure doesn't look like they are hurting any that they should continue to deny Gus the things he wants and needs. What are they using the money for, if not for Gus since they both have jobs? It pissed me off that Mel just outright said 'NO' to Gus requesting a trampoline party, while Lindsay made it clear that she agreed with Mel but buying her some time by saying 'We'll see'. Just about EVERY child knows that when those two words are uttered the automatic answer is a resounding no. I really hope that some answers for Brian are forthcoming from that quarter and soon, whether he chooses to act on the information or not.

Splendid chapter, Sandy! I'm certainly looking forward to MORE!

HUGS,

~Nichelle

Thank you for the wonderful review.  Eventually he will need to tell everyone, and I will write about those events.  I haven't gotten that far yet.  lol

Hey Sandy!

Definitely LOVED that the meeting brought up most of the issues that's been plaguing Brian for years, and that he was able to identify himself within each story.

Justin's continued support and guidance is indeed a thing of wonder! I suspect that his ability to get Brian to really examine his motives for maintaining the relationship with Michael will be an undeniable turning point in how Brian views himself, and those he has surrounded himself with. It's amazing how Justin made the connection between Jack's physical abuse and Michael being emotionally abusive, which is in actuality the worst of the two regardless of if it's intentionally inflicted or not.

I sincerely hope that Brian will continue to examine his life, and the friendships he's formed and the reasons he maintains them. Ironically, I'm not just talking about Michael, but probably most especially, Lindsay's. Blake, Ted and Emmett are proving themselves to be the real friends of the adult Brian has become, while the other two served their purpose and are certainly trying to hold onto a friendship that each of them have outgrown in their own way... or at least, that might be the case for Brian and Lindsay. Michael? Meh, he'll probably never grow up!

Off to read the next chapter!

HUGS, Sandy!

Sandy Darling, I LOVE THIS!! You are doing such an amazing job with the subject matter. My eldest sister and brother had addictions for many MANY years, and now well into their 50s they are finally both clean and sober. It is a constant journey, even for those of us who are supporting their efforts.

I really love Ted, who didn't hesitate to share his own struggles with Brian. He's certainly correct in Brian needing to find other ways to fill his time. It's not so much boredom, but that Brian has to give himself permission to reinvent himself. For so many years, he had cultivated an image which Michael and Lindsay- Hell, EVERYBODY- vicariously lived in. He's has to know that it's absolutely acceptable to want to be someone different; to have something else to look forward to rather than simply exists according to everyone else's expectations. That said, I think Brian's assessment of Michael's reaction to his decision is more than a little accurate. Michael would spend every waking moment whining about who Brian is, what he should be concentrating on, who he should be according to Michael's edicts. So I really hope he doesn't find out until Brian is on surefooting.

As for Lindsay: That sanctimonious harridan is such a damn hypocrite since I'm sure she and Melanie have at the very least, WINE with their dinner every night and Gus is present for that. I mean if you're going to tell Brian that it's irresponsible to drink when he has Gus, shouldn't it have been pointed out that she is certainly NOT having coffee, cola, or Kool-Aid all the time when Gus is with HER either? Just saying! Anyway, I'm glad that he told Justin about her, especially because if Brian falls of the wagon, his interactions with Lindsay (who is like a modern day Joan Kinney in my book) would likely be the culprit.

I'm looking forward to more of this amazing story, and the continual journey of Brian and Justin. Simply freaking marvelous, Darling!

HAPPY WRITING and HUGS,

Thank you for such a long and lengthy comment.  I'm glad that I'm portraying Brian in a realistic manner; I had concerns about my accuracy and I'm glad that you think I am doing a good job.  I'm not a fan of either Michael or LIndsay as evidenced by most of my stories.  Justin and Brian are in an interesting place in this story and I don't know how it will pan out in the end.  I hope my readers continue to support this new endeavor.

Hey Sandy! Another amazing chapter! With friends like Michael and Lindsay, who wouldn't want to drink away the memory that they exist? Michael is chronically a child when he doesn't get his way. I'm so glad that Brian was able to withstand the peer pressure and whine fest of the idiot. Michael really NEEDS to find a life, or better yet, to just get left behind immediately. He's never going to grow up nor accept 'New' Brian because he just doesn't have the capacity to do so. That alone is obvious by the way he continually barges into Brian's office instead of actually tending to his own business.

Lindsay just makes me want to deck her. She's always so contradictory in an effort to maintain some faux sense of control. Sadly, it's worked well for her all these years with the way she continually sinks her hooks into Brian's psyche. I'm glad that he's realizing that anger and fear are two of his triggers, and remains determined to stay on the wagon to sobriety.

Calling Justin was an amazing decision on his part. I'm so proud of him!

HAPPY WRITING and HUGS,

~Nichelle

P.S. I'm not sure you know but the chapter in its entirety is reading twice. Just wanted to call your attention to it.

Author's Response:

I'm not a big fan of Lindsay or Michael.  Michael is really a very childish self-centered individual and hopefully, Brian will be able to evaluate his friendship with him.   Justin wants to help him and will do his best to do so.

Great chapter! I like that Brian is really taking note of the things and people in his life, including his reactions to them. Lindsay seriously needs to get put in her place, in more ways than one. I'm also really curious just why it's always a problem when Gus needs something when Brian pays more than enough for Gus' upkeep. I wouldn't be surprised if she's telling Mel she's receiving a signicantly lesser amount from Brian than she really is, and then hiding the excess in an account with only her name attached to it. It sounds just like something she would do, especially with her controlling tendencies.

As for Brian's comparison between Emmett and Michael, I found his assessment of each one spot on. Michael is a blabbermouth (in my Ralph Kramden voice), always braying, badgering, and bitching. He reminds me of what would happen if a sheep and a jackass procreated! Hee-haw-Baaaaaaa, Hee-haw-Baaaaaaaa is all I ever hear when I'm reading or writing about him...SMH Emmett, on the other hand, always possessed some inner-strength and selective wisdom. I say selective only because he picked wisely and chose to use it when it would have the most impact (Vic's run-in with the law). He also possesses a clear and defined sense of right and wrong, much like Brian, which I've always admired and appreciated. As I've always said in reference to Brian, Ted and Emmett, theirs should have been the friendships that were played up in Brian's storyline, while Michael's eternally-inmature ass should have been left behind.

Once again, I want to tell you that you are doing an amazing job with this fic. All of the decisions and introspection Brian is doing is not only well-written, but also poignant and inspiring in its own way- not only because of the subject matter of sobriety, but also because he's redefining himself in such a way where he will have to let go of the dead weights of friendships that are long past their expiration dates, and activities which seek to keep him from growing as a person. You're doing an awesome job conveying that.

HAPPY WRITING and HUGS,

~Nichelle

Emmett really cares for Brian, he just has not been given an opportunity to be the good friend.  By telling Emmett, Brian has opened up the possibilty to forge new friendships.  I think it will be interesting to see how Brian's life changes as his sobreity continues.
